Default The Sims Online / EA-Land

CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION

Now, some of you may know that EA closed The Sims Online on 1st August 2008. I am starting threads to make this game known, and trying to get EA games to revive it from the dead.

The Sims Online / EA-Land (rebranded), or even shorter, TSO was an Massively Multiplayer Online Chatting community version of the Original Sims. It was a safe, fun, enjoyable game - I shall explain more about it below:

Original details from the website
Quote:
The Sims Online is a massive world built by thousands of players. Create a sim and play as yourself, or your alternate sims persona. Explore neighbourhoods, make friends, host events or even make a business. The only limit is your imagination.
Game features (in 2003)
Create and customize your Sim to be just like you -- or someone else. Be rich, powerful, popular, famous, or infamous.

Meet, flirt and get to know other Sims through chat, instant messages and hundreds of new expressive gestures.

Build your dream home, the trendiest boutique, or the hottest neighborhood hangout around.

Develop a network of friends, go into business with your housemates, or improve the neighborhood.

Choose from hundreds of outfits and thousands of appearance possibilities. Includes nearly all the faces, clothes, and objects from The Sims™ and the first four expansion packs.

Let your imagination run wild. Choose your online role and play your way in this unpredictable, infinite, online world.

Even better... The Sims Online became FREE when it was rebranded as EA-Land. I will explain it from my experience now.

The Sims Online was an online getaway from real life, allowing me to keep in contact with friends, create your very own home (once you have got the money!), be a roomate or have roomates at your home - all my friends lived with me. I also made a furniture shop - it also allowed you to go to your job, and you had to work. The jobs were: Nightclub, Robot Factory (I CHOOSE THIS ONE) and finally the Diner. You earnt money per shift, and got more as you go promoted, there were skilling rooms (skilling speed was faster), events, I also had my very own cute cat and puppy. And there is so much more. It was amazing - I could write a book about it, I just can't fit it all into this very thread.

I encourage, every single one of you, to try to get THE SIMS ONLINE / EA-LAND back, we want our game - we want The Sims Online.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE WEBSITE (SOME IMAGES MISSING) FROM 2003! or go to www.playercampaigns.com to join the campaign the get TSO back.

We are asking you, please help us get our game back. The Sims Online should not be forgotten and is an important part of The Sims franchise - true sims players will understand.

Thanks for reading!

UPDATE #1:

FACT: Electronic Arts encouraged its players and former players to reactivate old accounts at $9.99 per month with the promise or rewards and gifts. Electronic Arts delayed those rewards for months....meanwhile players paid for their accounts and additional accounts. The day before those rewards and promises Electronic Arts reneged on their promises and shut us out of our game. This violates consumer protection laws.

FACT: Electronic Arts promised us value for our custom created content. Many of those same contents were deleted from the game with no compensation or apologizes. Sims Online players spent an accumulation of thousands and thousands of hours creating this content only to see it disappear.

Apparently according to players; Electronic Arts oversold the economy creating a lower dollar value, they tried to make it up by refunding the purchases of Simoleans sold through ATM's in The Sims Online ( EA-Land) leaving those who could not afford their scam to play on an unleveled playing field for the same dollar. If this is true it violates consumer protection laws.

FACT: Electronic Arts did not give an Official Notice to its player as stated on the retail box. According to Sims Online players; an official email was sent out only a few weeks before the actual closing of The Sims Online, not 90 days as marked on the Sims Online box. If you have ever purchased a copy of The Sims Online or know of someone who did you will want them to join our campaign. If true...this would violates consumer protection laws.

FACT: Electronic Arts deleted PLAYERCAMPAIGNS.COM campaign posts and removed every trace they possibly could of the horrible acts they committed against their subscribers leaving it's players in the dark searching for answers.

what makes the sims online different?

  • Hundreds of games have closed, why is The Sims Online so different?
Its not, we would show the same support for all our fellow gamers, who else will help us? There are not many game advocacy's or game unions in this day in age.
We believe The Sims Online should remain online forever, as part of the history of online games. The Sims Online is not for everyone but we believe everyone should have the opportunity to at least try the game once. The marketing and maintenance for The Sims Online was extremely poor and the game was launched long before it was ready.

Sims just want to be Sims
  • Regardless of events that have previously taken place, the members of our community would be satisfied with a private or single server of The Sims Online. (EA-Land)
  • Former members of The Sims Online have offered to participate in the operation of a single server, many other suggestions have been made in our forums.

Electronic Arts MMO called Ultima Online has multiple private servers, why is this not possible for The Sims Online. Have we been sold out?

I think it'd be great for The Sims Bustin' Out servers to be back online seeing as though not many people used it as you had to buy special parts for your PS2. But considering that the PS3 has internet built in, I went on it the other day and it is possible to play online PS2 games on the PS3!! But of course the shut down the servers a long time ago therefore I am one who didn't get a chance to play it.. Might be great to see the servers go back up for a while seeing as though I believe it's the best sims console game. But back to what you're saying - I'd love TSO to be back! This one I did play and it was great playing the sims with my friends!! Just didn't like how expensive it was at times. I really enjoyed the going to work part though :P

Default EA Land might not come back :(

Ok, a big thing about EA Land. It may go like this:

EA Land didn't just close like a store and re-open the next day. But probably like a store gets bull-dozed to make a new building.

So the creators of EA Land may have gotten EA Land permanently deleted and got all files deleted already so it's gone.

I'm not sure though, I havn't ever played it actually, just an idea.

All data remains on the EA Servers, I believe. We just cant connect because they have stopped the website working, and cut off the subdomains such as tso.ea.com (for the data). Our subscriptions were "Suspended"

I really miss TSO. I made some great friends on there and had some great times. I remember when it first came out too, I waited agesss for it. Like the box had turntable head over a human body. I think EA should at least make it so fans could host a server as it would be quite possible, if they don't wish to spare the room. I'd still be willing to pay the $10 fee too.

I am still really mad at EA for closing down TSO.. They seem to be forgetting that quite a lot of their customers enjoyed the game, so ofc we feel cheated.

And the fact of releasing it in USA and Canada only, and then come up with the conclusion that its not selling, is the most stupidest thing I have ever heard.. There are tons of sims fans here in Denmark alone.. Think about the rest of europe and asia then.. We had to order the game online from an american seller, and a lot of parents didnt allow their children to shop online, and a lot of other people didnt know how.. Or where..

I will try to hold down my rage towards EA, for this incredibly stupid stunt now and try to look back on one of the games that I have enjoyed most.

I always miss tso.. I miss going home after a long day at school and work, and turn on tso.. It always made me feel better.. It was also fun to Pizza, and meet new people. hehe even seduce female sims. :P Do you guys remember the Baloons, when you made friends? haha that was epic.

Anyway.. I would love to sign the petition, but I get an error every time I try.

I am mad at EA for being so greedy!
They just made TheSims1 and TheSimsOnline to make sims game known. Then to sell the ow so expensive TheSims2 with bad system requirements (its so much ).
Now they dont support any of TheSims1 games.

I am suprised that infact, this thread is still alive

and the petition is still slowly being signed up. Maybe there is a chance if we try to get people to sign it up?

Hi all, thanks to everyone for signing it, 195 signed it so far! And it has been forwarded to the "higher authorities" so to speak, we are awaiting an email back, but the help team did say "if we get a response". EA wont listen to us, but there is no problem trying, eh?
