My unlock code doesnt work. can you help me??

Hello everyone.
Can you help me??
I had a free trial when I got the laptop. when ever I try to play it it says I need to buy it
I have just downloaded Sims Life Stories on to my laptop using the download manager. I was given and unlock code when I perchased the game but when I try to activate in on the download manager it comes up with : The code entered is not valide for product activation.
I have tried looking on the support pages but can seem to find anything.
Please help!!! I dont know what else to do.
