The Sims 2 Castaway [not Stories ?]

Since The Sims Stories series was announced I was only ever interested in the third release of this supposed ‘laptop friendly’ trio – that being Castaway. Having received information about the new game it appears that it doesn’t really belong to this category at all, primarily as it’s not even available to buy for a PC or laptop!

All three started out as The Sims Life/Pet/Castaway Stories , however now it seems that the latter is being marketed as The Sims 2 Castaway instead and is only available for Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, PS2 & PSP.

Anyone know why this is?

I hope that I am missing something as I’ll be most disappointed if Castaway isn’t available for the PC.

It's still listed on Play.com as PC, but obviously that's not official. I 'll see if I can get one of the admins to look into it for you.

As far as I am aware, The Sims 2: Castaway is not part of the "Stories" series and, therefore, will not be released on PC. It is scheduled for a Wii, DS, PS2 and PSP release.

ign.com lists The Sims: Castaway Stories (due for release in 200

, as does play.com (due for release October 2007), although I have not heard anything about this. I'll look into it for you.

I know that Castaway is for consoles. But why are EA still showing it in The Sims Stories videos as Castaway Stories which comes out Winter 2008?
EDIT: Also they still have a page for it on the official Sims Stories site...

I understand that it’s being marketed for consoles now but if you look at the first link in my post you can see that it was clearly intended to be used on a PC.

Don't forget they released The Sims 2 Pets on consoles AND The Sims Pets Stories for PC. I just think the PC version of Castaway is coming much later than the console version.

They decided to go with a standalone with Castaway so it is nothing like the previous console Sims 2 games. I was impressed with it when I saw it on Tuesday. I think it may have been because the last few on console didn't go down so well that they changed their strategies on this one. I'm looking forward to it coming out personally.

In the Bon Voyage expansion pack case there’s a little book about all the sims games and Castaway is advertised under the PC and console section...so that's promising.
