Default Sims 2 Body Shop Info

This information is intended to help those experiencing problems with The Sims 2 Body Shop. Find the section which describes the problem you're having and follow the instuctions to work around them.

Body Shop won't run or gives an error when I try

First, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. You can find out who makes your graphics card by doing this:

Start Button -> Run
Type dxdiag and press Enter
Then click the Display tab and it should say it in the top left what your graphics card is

Now go to the website of the manufacturer for your graphics card and get the latest drivers. Quick graphics card manufactuer links:

ATi (Radeon) - www.ati.com
Nvidia (GeForce) - www.nvidia.com
Maxtrox - www.matrox.com

Also upgrade your DirectX version. Download and install 9.0b from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/directx

One more trick to try is this:

Right click on your desktop, choose Properties
Click on the Settings tab then lower Colour Quality to 16-bit
Now run Body Shop again

Do I need all the files?

While you can get started just with the main Body Shop installer, we strongly suggest getting the tutorial and manual so you can more easily work out how to use the Body Shop. We also suggest downloading and using the extra Texture Pak which will provide you with many more design options.

My download is corrupt!

Especially on slower connections files can occasionally not download properly, resulting in a corrupt file. The only option here is to download the file again.

What's a zip file?

Some of the Body Shop downloads come as .exe files - you can just double click an .exe file and it will launch.

Zip files are compressed files - in other words they hold other files and make them smaller so they download quicker. To extract these files you either need Windows 2000 or XP, both of which support zip files automatically, or you'll need to download a file extracter such as WinZip.

Once you're sorted with running Body Shop and extracting the files, we recommend a read of the manual and tutorial and a bit of patience with this new tool. Beyond that, just use your creativity!

For further advice we recommend visiting the Sims Creator forum.
