Hello everybody!
Diving straight in with my first post here as i'm stuck with deciding on what to get as a present for my mum's birthday. My mum has been a fan of the original Sims since I bought the double deluxe version many years ago but is now getting a bit bored of it. Her birthday is coming up at the beginning of October and she's been hinting at having the complete Sims collection to add a bit of variety. The big question is should I just follow the hint knowing she'd be happy or go for one of the newer Sims 2 packages that are around the same price? And a few smaller questions that may help me decide: What would she be missing out on if I bought Sims 2 instead of the complete collection? What would she be gaining by getting Sims 2 compared to the original deluxe version she has already? Is Sims 2 any more difficult to master (for a 50+ year old? )I know it's a big ask and thank you if you've read all this but any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Daniel |

To be honest it all depends on different personalities. I still really enjoy playing the origanl sims (I have the complete collection) but i can't imagine my computer without the sims 2.
But if you have a good computer with at least 1 gig of ram and an OK graphics card i recommened the sims 2. |

Funny you should suggest that! I literally just asked her in the vaguest possible way what she was wanting from the complete collection (I always prefer to surprise so didn't want to let on about buying the Sims 2).
The response was simply, the Sims if too easy and she wants a challenge and some more variety. Apparently one of her sims had a cough once and she liked that - seems like a bit of added realism wouldn't go a miss. Oh, Double Deluxe comes with Livin' Large and House Party and a few minor extra objects. I don't have TS2 and have never played it so don't really have much of an idea what it's like - i've watched the videos and seen screen shots and it looks like it offers quite a bit more than the original in it's standard form - I'm just wondering could it match up to the Sims 1 Collection with respect to new challenges/different things? Obviously there'll be things like pets and the magic stuff missing but is Sims 2 different enough? |
