Hi Kazcat570, welcome to the forums.
I'm sorry to hear you are having problem with the Sims game, I do have a question which may help narrow it down: which operating system are you using? Are you using an administrator account to install and run the game? According to the EA database, if you are using Windows XP/2000, you must use an Administrator account to properly install and run the game. Using a limited account can result in the inability to install, run, or save; crashes; errors; and further issues. There may be also be saving issues if you are running vista, I've noticed some problems myself as the game also puts saved sims and neighbourhood information in hidden folders under your user log in name. See the EA article Windows Vista Compatibility. If you still have problem then I'd recommend you contact the EA support team directly, you can find their contact details in the Support Fourm. I'll move this thread over to the original sims board for you.
