Default Is it possibile to run "The Sims" under windows xp

Hello forum!

I haven't played sims before and I'm thinking of buying a copy but on the cd it says that the required os is Windows 95/2000.... note that I'm talking about "The Sims" not the sims 2.

So I was wondering whether I'd be able to install and run it under my windows xp hp laptop.

Many thanks in advance.

The Sims should run fine on XP, many people including me have had it working without any problems

Bought The Sims only for £5 last year. It was a bit slow on 98, but worked faster on XP. Have Sims 2 now as well.

I had The Sims installed earlier this day, but i uninstalled all games. Why? Because all the games took unnecessary much place at C:\\ xD

Hello there. I installed The Sims on my computer running Windows XP but it encounters a problem everytime I access it so cannot play! I have changed the compatability mode on the pc but to no avail!!! I have also tried to obtain a patch to see if this would help but cannot access this either!

Help!!!

Hi phoebepip1959, welcome to the forums.

One question! Are you using an administrator account to install and run the game? According to the EA database, if you are using Windows XP/2000, you must use an Administrator account to properly install and run the game. Using a limited account can result in the inability to install, run, or save; crashes; errors; and further issues.

If you are already using an administrator account, I'd suggest you contact the EA Support Team directly for further assistance. You can find contact details in the Support Fourm.

Default Sims double deluxe

Hi
I have had the sims double deluxe for a few years now
and it still keeps freezing, thats why I dont play on it anymore so I thought I
would ask you guys if you know how I can solve this problem.
I've already unistalled it and re-installed it 3 or 4 times now and I still have the same problem, I use windows xp.

Hi there yuarnie, welcome to the forums.

It depends a bit on just where it's freezing, i.e. during install, at the start up screen, at the same sim time everyday, just generally at random points etc.

General random lock up/freezes are usually down to conflicts with sound or graphics cards, or their drivers, it can also be down conflicts with other programs or processes that may be running at the same time as The Sims. Try updating the Graphic Card Drivers, the Sound Card Drivers and shutting down Background Tasks and see if that solves it. If it doesn't, I'd recommend that you contact the EA Support Team directly who can go through all the various possible causes and solutions with you, you can find their contact details in the Support Fourm.
