New Update Coming & The Sims 3 Create a World Tool - Beta!

Happy Holidays Simmers!

We wanted to let you know that a new Game Update for The Sims 3 and the release of The Sims™ 3 Create a World Tool – BETA will be coming this month. Updates are the primary way for us to offer new features for your games, address any issues, and keep you up-to-date on the latest information to support online features. The upcoming December update will include several items, but we’d like to tell you today about one new feature specifically that we’re really excited about.

Introducing – Shop Mode! You heard right folks. The December update will introduce a button that will allow you to shop from The Sims 3 Store from inside your game. This new feature will enhance your shopping experience at The Sims 3 Store and allow you to access The Sims 3 Store via Shop Mode from the main menu, build or buy mode or during Create-a-Sim. As you purchase new items, they will be added to your catalog, while your game is running. You can browse the full Store catalog directly from your game and purchase furniture, décor, hair, clothing – without ever closing your game. This is a really exciting new experience for The Sims series, and we look forward to sharing with you!

Hopefully the update will fix a lot of bugs with the game especially the crashing when switching neighborhoods, the aging bug and relationship bugs.At least now we know it's coming and the shop thing sounds interesting.

Thank you for the update EAUK.

I hope the new update fixes the changing active household problem. It seems to be on one sim for me but i don't use her much anyway.

Did EA ever publically say that the 10th was the date? It was posted briefly on the German Facebook page, and then removed (obviously they didn't mean to give out that information, as it was just a target or an estimate or something). Just saying, you can't start crying "delay" when EA never posted up on the Sims 3 website in massive letters that the 10th was to be the release date. All they've ever said to us is December, there is no delay.

And whether the date will be the 10th remains to be seen - Redwood City is 8 hours behind UK time, so if they were putting the tool up today it'd be likely to be as late as midnight.

Wow... is the store doing that bad that they have to force it into the game too? I hardly see that as a great feature to do me any favors - just another way to try and get you to use the store :S Good thing I never use it I can just avoid all of the shop buttons.

I love how EA doesn't release a date just coming soon - we've known that for awhile.

Create a world isn't a patch, it's a seperate program which links to the sims3 you have installed, so if you have only the base game you can only more or less build base game style worlds, if you have WA you can build adventure style worlds, well that's what various reviews have said. If you only have base game you will probably need to get all the base game patches as the later ones were preparing some of the ground for this. I think you can only create new worlds, don't think you can change existing ones, perhaps Aurora knows.

They are also releasing a patch for the game but this is a few features and bug fixes, don't know if it applies to base game and WA or just one.

Aurora, you usually give straight answers, so can you clarify how this in game store link will work. This is causing a lot of concern on quite a few Sims websites, probably ill informed, but lots of worries as to the motives for this. I know in Sims2 there was an in game link to the exchange so not much different except the Store is not free. Some sims site forums are full of worries about gameplay wishes requiring store items to fulfill them, pop ups in game advertising new items etc., I personally can't believe that EA would do that, but you know how rumours start and snowball. I think EA need to clarify how this will work, does the in game link have to be enabled as in Sims 2, or is it there by default, can it be disabled? Loads more questions on the websites but a clear statement of how it will work from EA should hopefully calm everyone down. I don't think this is just a few oddballs worrying about this, there seems to be a lot of genuine concern.

I think EA didn't announced it will be released last dec. 10, but rather it was an article from a site... So it was just a rumor anyway... So technically, it wasn't delayed... I think...

I'm afraid that I don't have details on this area at this time but as soon as I have news for you I will share it.

I like the idea of the shop being accessible during gameplay. Does that include the Exchange? Will we be able to download items from the Exchange while out game is running as well?

Thanks for the article.
