Default Game Updates and You

Game Updates and You

Quote:
Hi Simmers!

The release of The Sims 3 World Adventures is quickly approaching! So we wanted to take a moment to let you know about a Game Update to The Sims 3 that will be available globally from November 17th and give information on future Game Updates we’ll be working on for you.

The Sims 3 is constantly evolving and the development team is always working to provide necessary upgrades to your games. These could include updates due to driver or software changes we want to support, or it can mean full new features for you to enjoy! Game Updates can also provide you with the newest game code to ensure that you can properly use any official content you have downloaded and that you can continue to share the content you have created online.

Different from previous The Sims titles, Game Updates can contain full new features. For example, from November 17th there will be an update available to you even if you only own The Sims 3. When you update your game, you will get to use select new features made available from The Sims 3 World Adventures such as pagoda roofs and basements, without needing to purchase the entire game. Keeping your game up to date will make it easier to continue sharing your content and creations with everyone.

Game Updates can come at any time and may contain whole new features, enhancements to existing features, new features available on the store or exchange – really they could be anything. When we release a Game Update we will continue to inform you of the content it will contain. You will know when there is an update available by checking the Game Updates button in the Game Launcher screen. You can set these Game Updates to be automatically installed or manually controlled through the Game Launcher.

Stay tuned for specific details on the Game Update coming from November 17th including everything it will provide.

Thanks.
The Sims 3 Development Team

Question to The Sims 3 Development Team/EAUK_Aurora/ or anyone:

This updates or patches, are they save-game compatible? Or do we have to start an entire new game with new families?

Grateful if any answers this because it's kind of important...

They are all savegame compatible. I am guessing we will get a neighborhood tool soon to create our own towns from scratch.

This is brilliant. EA have been listening to people who said they only wanted certain things from one pack, and not just buy the whole pack for one hairstyle, or a few things. Excellent, can you get the updates when you're not logged in? I've noticed when a patch comes out it downloads it immediately into the game when I open the launcher.

The updates should work with existing game saves

This I don't know, Kerry but if you are still having problems with your account and have not contacted EA Support yet then drop them a line.

You should be able to enable auto updates or change to manual installation through the Game Launcher.

EAUK do you know if the WA stuff is free with just the base game or if they'll charge a small fee if you just have the base game?A lot of people on snooty's forum think they'll charge a small fee if you want it without the ep.Also do you think they'll offer the new wa hair for just the base game?

To the other poster you have to be logged in to download the patch.I hope this patch fixes the radios. It's pointless to have new music and stations if you can only listen to the custom station.I wonder if it will also make story progression better.

This is off topic, but I do have a possible solution to this problem. I used to also suffer problems with all music but the custom station. I downloaded a "super computer" mod (or something to that effect) from Twallan's site (google Twallan's story progression mod and you should find it). This computer provided the option to turn off all stereos in the neighbourhood. I clicked it, and no music would play from the stereos I had. So I bought new stereos, and all of my music was working, including buy/build mode, opportunities etc. So, I think the problem is caused by leaving too many stereos on when switching between families - I know I did.

Hope they sort out other issues, like Error 12, crashing, lack of AA, odd slowdowns, custom music not being heard, pathfinding and probably some other stuff which is frequently mentioned.

The update will be free.

As for what the update will contain, it will obviously not contain all World Adventures additions. I will post more information about the contents of the update next week

Add to this the speed issue how long it takes sims to do things after you tell them too and also pregnant sims not being able to change appearence.

The details of what the update will contain will not be announced until next week.

It could be worth creating a thread to see if members can help you figure out if your hardware is causing you game problems or you could drop EA Support a line and seek their advice.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't really frustrating, especially if I have to restart my pc everytime I want to play it.

Also if the CD is in the computer, I'll start it up and it'll get to the black screen with the lil _ flashing and will stop there, but as soon as I take the CD out it continues to boot up like normal... lalala is up with that?

Maybe your PC is trying to boot your system from the CD (ie looking to your CD drive as the primary boot source) rather than your hard drive. If that happens with any disks that are left in the drive then I would guess that is why that is happening.

Got another problem with the launcher now :/

It comes up with an error when I try to log in using the Launcher. *Just wanted to upload my new house picture*

'Internet Explorer Script Error'
'An error has occured in the script on this page.'

Even though IE isn't on my pc :/ Now downloading it to see if that resolves the problem.

It is possible that it will help, as long as you keep the options to default settings in IE from what I understand.

Firefox is my default browser but the launcher always uses IE for me if I go to the site or Store from it.

Seeing as you are having a number of problems I would suggest dropping EA Support a line and explaining what you are experiencing. Hopefully they will be able to help you sort it out.

I am having a problem where The Sims 3 will not play music in buy or build modes or in Create-a-Sim. No music will play on the stereo apart from custom music. I hope EA correct this. I have checked around on the web and there are a lot of people experiencing exactly the same problem. I contacted EA's technical support and they have failed to get in touch with me. It's all a bit lame really.

This thread is about game updates.

Do not hijack it with your user problems.

simulate, it's not that I disagree with you, but...are you a moderator of this forum, or do you just like telling people what to do? I should think that if the EA rep had any problems with people discussion their technical issues, he/she would have been the one to say so.

Furthermore, the questions about the problems are legitimate, since they are asking if the updates will solve their technical issues.

Same here it's related to the radio bug that causes you to only here the custom station.Hopefully it will be resolved with the latest update which is suppose to fix a lot of bugs.
