Default Is it possible to make a computer operatred sim?

Hi,

Is it possible to make a sim and place it within the game, but make it so that he would be operated by the computer and not the player? The idea is that I would like to make me a boyfriend, but I wouldn't like to operate him in the beginning. Let him live his own life for a while, then meet, move in and so on and so forth. Just like with the other pregenerated sims.

Yes That's what every other sim in the neighbourhood is doing while you're not playing them.
Also, welcome to the forums

They are telling you wrong dear, that is not possible in sims 3 because you can only have one active family at a time, so once you placed the boyfriend in the game and then went back, made the girlfriend, and tried to play her, you would have to leave the boyfriend behind and he would go about his own business because of the story progression feature. Here is what I do:I create the sims and move them in together, but I make the house like an apartment building. The sims never talk or anything unless I want them to, and sometimes it's easier if you turn off free will.

No... We're not telling her wrong. The sims not being played still carry on their lives due to story progression. Which is why when you go into town stuff's going on.

If she made the boyfriend and moved him in a seperate house in town, he would live simultaneously to her female sim. And if she wanted to befriend/marry the boyfriend all she would need to do is visit him, or chat to him if she sees him in town.

And that's exactly what they are saying, the question is if you can make a sim to be controlled by the computer...

Well, if you're not playing them and they are not a member of the current household you are playing, then surely the computer IS playing them in a roundabout way? Not meaning that in a sarky way, just an observation
