I recently found on this forum a link to pre-ordering the new expansion pack "World Adventures". I'm not particularly happy with this new holiday-like theme anyway, but I thought about the new objects and things we will get with it and thought it'd be worth getting..
This was all swell when I didn't know that the price was going to be £29.99 I CAN BUY THE BASE GAME FOR THAT PRICE!! What the hell are EA thinking??!I'm certainly not buying this at such an obscene price. I'm sure previous expansions only cost about £20 when they were released (that's how much I bought apartment life for).. Is nobody else shocked by this at all? It'll be £20 by release I think/hope.
The sims 3 cost £30 from most places even though it was officially £39.99 EA know the a £10 hike in the price will really damage sales, so I think they'll either put it down, or get all the shops to charge less, and say it's a good deal.

I'm pretty sure that EA was thinging that they would like to compensate their artists for their years of hard work. Maybe if you go offer to mow their lawn they will give you the game for free.

I won't pay the same price for an EP as I did for the whole game - no way.
$29.99 USD is the most I can see myself paying for an EP. I'm not crazy about this particular EP to begin with (I didn't care much for the vacation one in TS2 anyway), but I would have bought it anyway for a more reasonable price just to extend my TS3 experience. If they REALLY try to sell it for the same price as the whole base game (or even close to that), I'll definately pass...

I think originally the point of pre-ordering was just to reserve a copy in case the shop sold out on release day. This obviously doesn't happen much any more with online stores. Sometimes they give you a bonus like an exclusive in-game item for pre-ordering, but I don't think I've ever seen cheaper prices, at least not for games.

Hi, the pricing is a little higher than The Sims 2 expansions for some of the following reasons:

Game have it listed at £29.99 too. If i'm honest i do think the pricing is a little high, regardless of the sim points included with the game - not much use to me as all the stuff i want is more than the amount of sim points i have, and hubby reckons after spending £30 on the original game and then the x amount that will be spent on EP's, he kinda objects to spending even more on furniture that really should be included with the actual game/ep's.

* World Adventures provides lots of additional gameplay and items, plus adds storyline elements by building on goal oriented gameplay from base game
Not an attractive proposition for me. I played The Sims Castaway and hated the fact that it had a story line and no real free-play option. Yes, TS3 will surely still have that, but then again...it already does! * It offers $10 (£6) value of SimPoints to be spent on TS3 Store It would be more prudent of EA to lower the price for the benefit of those without internet access, who CANNOT USE the store. Besides, I'd prefer to wait until people make free items rather than throwing yet more money into EA's pocket. * It offers access to an Explorer’s kit - 15 exclusive valuable items to be downloaded upon product registration Again, hardly an attractive proposition! It kind of conflicts between items bought with the EP and the bonus (I nearly said free, but that would have been a lie) TS3 store points. I was kind of hoping that EA would reward fans who have bought the previous two expansion packs of this type ("The Sims : On Holiday" and "The Sims 2 : Bon Voyage") for their games by giving it away for free or for a tenner, which would make me sorely tempted to buy it. I should have known better. EA will not see any of my money if it's a penny over £19.99. To be honest, it doesn't look that great anyway, and I might just wait until the price drops. |

To be honest I reckon EA Store will probably have some really cool pre order incentives like they did for The Sims 3. If the price is the same on Game and other retailers then your better off pre ordering from EA Store. - That's one reason why I purchase from store.

It seems strange that theyve raised the price when the expansions from the previous game have always been 20 quid.
However from what I've heard, the game introduces 3 whole new massive environments which probably took a long time to create. This means more environments than the actual game itself. I looked in HMV the other day and they were selling the base game for 38 quid which seems a lot. Ah well, suppose they've got to get money for all the work they put in. |

What is everyone on about with this "lots of large elements added to the game"??? They've basically done what they did with bon voyage, etc, but tried to improve it. It doesn't look like they've put as much effort into this at all. In fact, I believe if I worked for EA I could produce a much better idea(s) for a first expansion pack. I'm sure that the whole collecting things is also just like the sims 3 base game where sims can find rocks or bugs.. If anything they've put less effort into this than they did with ANY OTHER expansion they've ever made. |

i think that you are all just so nayeev! i know it is a rip off but this expansion pack is really big! not only have they had to make two whole neighbourhoods for the base game but they are making an extra three that will take a lot of making and all of the new interactions will be hard to make as they have to research the culture of each country, and i think that they will have probably had to ask from the government of egypt, france and china to make the legendery landmarks of their countries! this all has to be taken into consideration before you make pointless accusations! in the sims 2 they didnt make real countries, they just made them up, but with the sims 3 they HAVE used real countries which will have taken a lot of work to persuade the countries to let them! this is why the ep will be so expensive!

You might buy all that, but to many people that stuff doesn't justify and extra £10. That doesn't make us naive, just a bit cynical about EA's justification for a 50% price hike compared to the previous game. Do you really think they had to put a lot of work in to pursuade the countries to allow use of the name/landmarks? That's ridiculous. If you really believe that, and the stuff fed by EA then YOU'RE the naive one. & how can you make comments on the size of an expansion considering you've seen a fraction of the content and the EP's not yet completed? Anyway, happy simming.
