I completely get the idea of not doing the things I don't like. For example I never bother with collecting items because I just don't get it and don't enjoy it. It's just that from what we know so far (which is very little) this EP sounds like it's all about the quests with very little else. I'd really like some information on any other game play features. As I keep saying, I WANT to like this pack... heck I bought a brand new computer to be able to play sims 3 and all it's expansions. Bit of a waste of £900 if I don't like them! With Paris being a romantic place they should include heart beds and honeymoon suites. This may also open up the possiblity for wedding arches, hottubs, wedding cakes, champayne etc since I'm sure you'll be able to have weddings there.
Something I'm wondering about is wonder if the wife buys a home in Paris and the husband stays in Sunset with the kids can you switch between the two of them and will they be able to visit each other?I hope so.

Could someone tell me what this means? Our sims start out at a base camp but it doesn't say there are hotels it says they have to work their way up to a home.Where are they suppose to sleep?Since it isn't about visiting is it possible this camp could be in Sunset?
IGN: What's the gist of World Adventures? Your Sims can visit these places, but is it a situation where they can build homes in these areas; in other words, they're like new towns? Or do they just visit these areas but they still live in Riverview or Sunset Valley? Or will you be able to temporarily stay in some kind of hotel? Lyndsay Pearson: The Sims 3: World Adventures isn't really about "visiting" at all; that implies you are an observer of another culture or destination. In this expansion pack, you are directly participating in the places you are travelling to, and it's very different than just being there. Your sims will start out at a kind of "base camp" and will have to earn their way up to being able to have a local home to travel to. While camp will be where your sim starts, it's all about getting out into the world and encountering what experiences are to be had. Your sim might start walking downtown to meet some locals and be asked to help find a lost artifact that will kick them off on an adventure that might lead to a secret nook of the location or into a lost tomb.

It's beginning to sounds like this isn't a holiday pack at all. Base camp like sharkloverplayer says, is where people stay before they "adventure" up to a home of their own. Base camp is what people that go hiking up mountains have so I'd imagine they sleep at base camp, NOT in a hotel or guest lodge... interesting... but it still doesn't counteract the (so far negative to me) aspect of questing. I'm more positive but would like more details on otehr game play features.

Definitely doesn't sound like a holiday 'trip' type of expansion pack. More about the questing as sparkleuk mentioned. It sounds intriguing though I must admit I'd like it if they *also* had a holiday aspect going on? You know so you can go on an adventure trip or just go for a romantic getaway. That'd be real neat. Even still, sounds like a laugh!

I really don't know what to make of this at all. From the screen shots there doesn't seem to be many new (interesting) objects. I guess we will have to wait for some more screens or a trailer or something. I just wish we had better jobs and businesses. I'm a little disappointed - I don't really want my sims to go on some crazy adventure and have sims aging at home, missing whats happening in their families.

i think that they are trying to make it like indiana jones!!! but it would be gud if they would make it as a holiday destination aswell otherwise i think i mite get bored of it wen i get it. and they should have cruises down the river nile and the great big sky scrapers of china, aswell as the peaceful side of china!

The interview currently doing the rounds has an answer that says you have learn about the culture and quest your way up before you are allowed to aquire a home in these areas. It may turn out that they just didn't mention you can buy one as well (perhaps you can buy one straight away but if you go the questing route and learn about the culture they invite you to live there and give you a house for free) but the implication so far is that you have to EARN you place in that community/culture.

I would agree that from the little information released so far by EA and the two interviews linked to on snootysims, it doesn't sound much like a traditional holiday/vacation expansion such as On Holiday or Bon Voyage were with hotels to stay at. It sounds more like this is just an exploring expansion using an opportunity based story line system, which is actually quite refreshing.
My overall impression of Sims 3 was somewhat disappointing, perhaps this different style of expansion will add some much needed excitement. I'm looking forward to having my sims go off treasuring seeking, exploring and solving puzzles to progress through each destination.

Did anyone happen to play the Sims Life Stories/Castaway series for laptops that couldn't support "regular" TS2?
Each of these games has a storyline to begin with where you have to complete certain tasks/wishes/create relationships, etc. So for the first roughly 8-15 hours of gameplay in order to progress you ahve to follow the story and complete the challenges along the way. Once you have done this, you are then into freeplay mode and it goes back to regular sims where you create your story. Perhaps this is what they will be doing? If so, it will be a bit of a bummer for those that want total control over their sim's story, unless EA put in an option to bypass quests etc. Does that make sense? Overall, I am 50 50 on this EP at the moment. I like the idea of 3 new neighbourhoods, but I am keen first of all to hear some more information about it first, like how you get there within your game (at the moment we cannot just "switch" between neighbourhoods so does that mean loading screens are back?), will there be stuff within the EP like furniture automatically or is it just going to be the artifacts and collectibles, and then any furniture and other everyday items have to be bought from the store? Personally, I don't like the idea of storylines, more the props to create a scenario with some new interesting build and buy options! But will wait for further press releases before making a decision. Also wish they had left it maybe another month before announcing this. As if waiting for the base game wasn't enough, now we have another 3 agonising months of anticipation again! Eekk!
