How can you download the Sims3 from EA Download Manager?

My disc is temperamental so I wanted to play the game without the disc. I heard with EA Download Manager you can put your serial code in and do that, so I went to Activation and typed my code in. It showed my game and there was the option to play. I clicked that but it took me to the usual Sims 3 Game Launcher and I had the same old problems with my disc. Does anyone know how to download the game from EADM so I can use it without my disc? Thankyou very much if you can help, I really want to be able to play the game WHEN I WANT instead of when it feels like it. ):

You will need to uninstall it from your computer first. Make sure you make a copy of your saved games first...just go to mydocuments/electronic arts and copy the sims3 folder onto yor desktop.

Actually, heres a good guide to make sure you completely uninstall it..

(wow, sorry for the long url lol)

Once you have it uninstalled, go to EADM again and instead of showing "play" it should show "download" and then "install".

At the moment, because it is already installed on your pc, it just opens your existing installation.
