Default I'm very annoyed.

I made up 8 people, 4 women and 4 men, all perfect matches to each other. All as individuals and then got all to move into with one of them, so ended up instead of $16.000.00, I had $117.000.00 to start my new home.. I had them all talk to their perfect match out in the front yard, before they had gone into the home. Then I sent them around to swim in the pool, then after a while I sent one of them, who I have as with cooking skills, to go prepare a meal, and started to get them to leave the pool go to the toilet, then be ready for the meal.. When there were just 3 left in the pool, one of them drowned. I wouldn't have minded if I had been using them in that house for a few weeks or so, but I had just spent a day making them, and setting up the home so all could fit into it and live there, and having had him and the girl who matched, at a hand holding stage, and then to lose him.. It makes me very annoyed.

Has anyone else had this happen? The pool was part of the home, I didn't build it, I doubt I can ever use a pool again and like to have them. There is so much time spent in making a Sim, it's very annoying to lose them before you have a chance to play with them..

Anyway, I tricked who ever created that problem in the programing, as I just turned off my pc, didn't save so I still had him, I went back to them and their new home, at the stage I had saved them before they went for a swim, and evicted them from the home. So I still have them. I just think it's a stupid thing to to have that kind of thing in the programing.

That would be rather annoying. Hasn't happened to me but I could easily say that I would be just as peeved as you are!

There was probably a quicker way of saying that.
"I spent ages making 4 sim couples, but shortly after moving them in, after romance had already blossomed, one drowned in the pool."
Maybe it's because I've only just woken up, but that felt very long-winded.

Did you have free will turned down or off maybe, so they were just too stupid to get out of the pool?

I've never had anybody drown yet, and I've been playing a lot since the first day the game was released...but yea, I would be annoyed too if that happened to me.

One of us has a problem. Either I am unaware there is a limit to the amount of words I can use. Or you need to go back to bed and get up again, or take a dose of liver salts.
What you missed and I did give a brief version, was that my effort to make an ideal group of 8 people who would all get on together, was time consuming, with much time given to details. I know you won't believe it, but I could have gone into far more detail about the effort I went to.
If you wish I can give you the full version, you know trait matching, even dressed to match and eyes and hair to match couples.. There is more, but I will spare you.

No I hadn't adjusted it, the only thing I have changed in my game play is I have extended the ageing. I had been keeping an eye on them to make sure they were not exhausted or in need of anything, their bars were all at least 1/2 green. He was also close to the ladder. I did download the home from the few available, and also did some extensions. But I can't see why that could have caused it. The old Sims let you turn off disasters, or am I thinking of Sim City? I thought the Sims also let you.

If your sims (all of them) have at least level 3 athletic, they won't drown in the pool.

Thanks Treypin, when I make a family where I want a pool, I will try to build them up to level 3 athletic first, the one that drowned had athletic as one of his traits, but he was too new to get to any level, so I will leave the pool until they have aquired that level.

To Becky, yes that easy, he hadn't ever even been into the house. They went into the pool around noon, he died about 2 hours later.

i think when they have that trait they're not afraid to stay in the pool but they still need a decent amount of athleticism to be able to swim well.

What a bad luck you had! Just don't save and reenter.

Edit: you would save first condition better when you just entered lot with your group. So if happened something unexpected you can just reenter. Use Sims3 Saves Backup tool for it. I hope it helps.

ROFL, tried that, even when you remove the ladder they still climb out of the pool.

I noticed they were climbing out - but if it's easier to drown them when they have no athletic skill, it won't matter!

Anywho... It does suck. Good thing you didn't save afterwards..

So I noticed , not good, that used to be a great way to make money, that is drown and to kill off your sim, but still in Sim3 no need, anyone will move in with anyone.. Btw, anyone know the limit to how many Sims you can have to a house, and when they leave, do they take a part of the money with them?

I don't know what's worse, the fact the sim drowned or the fact you seem as gutted as if it were your actual living pet gerbil.

Sims 3 maks backups of saves. My whole house was deleted and I thought I'd never be able to play it again but all I had to do was go into the saves folder and remove the word 'backup' from the previous save file. I think any mistakes are easy to fix. Of course, if a sim dies you can always just not save it and play from your last save file. If you're doing something important, save often.

Despite the length of the first post, I'm still a little sketchy on what actually happened. How long had they been swimming? Can they only get out one at a time? How much energy did the one who died have left? What traits did he have (apart from athletic)?

Wow. I think I would be just as annoyed and angry as you. So I feel your pain. It hasn't happened to me with a sim I created, but it has happened with sims that were already in the game and I played with, I didn't mind it too much with them, but if I was playing match maker, yeah I would be. I think it's ridiculous about some stuff has been programmed into the game. Glad you were able to get them back alright.

Gutted? Hardly, it takes far more than a game to make me gutted. It was the time spent creating and not getting a chance to use the Sim that annoyed me.

It seems you don't comprehend well. I didn't need to back up, I simply exited without saving, then went back prior to the drowning and evicted them.

You should have read my second post and you would know that all of their bars were half green, they had been swimming around 2 hours. His other traits as well as athletic were green thumb computer whizz ambitious and friendly.

To those who have a problem with the length of my post. I have been using message boards for over 11 years. Those I use are cold case homicides forums, tennis and Big Brother. Other than the Big Brother forum this one seems to have managed to attract very rude and intolerant people.. Forum/message boards are about communicating with others, that is done with words. I think that maybe the problem is you don't have enough time to write more than one sentence, or maybe you don't have enough imagination to know how to communicate.

It wouldn't have worried me at all if I hadn't created them. The 8 of them were all matched up to be compatible, and the pairs to be a perfect match. Mind you I do like that I can go back and pick them up as often as I want. So all isn't lost. Also if the saving didn't take such a long time it would be less frustrating, as I do try to save often. In this case it was a good thing I didn't.

Haha, I know what you mean about saving taking forever to load. It's a very good thing you save often, because I certainly don't! I tend to like to play with sims that I didn't create and play match maker a lot, but I also like to play with sims I put a lot of time into. & I agree with your 6th post. This forum does attract some rather rude and rather slow people in my time of forum posting.

I'm using a lap top, my hard drive has a problem with the disc draw (stuck) so had to delete a much used Sims2, I had a lot of money that took so long to build up. Most of my money was earned from drowning a Sim who had just married. I had one time the same Sim marry twice in one day *lol*. I know it's crazy, but I couldn't drown a child or kill one of the Sim pets.
