That's dependant upon your intentions. If you want to just perfect one or two sims it may be on the short side. If instead you decide to make a legacy of some sort the game will take much longer and probably less boring.

what i meant is a gegacy as i heared that younger sims donot replace older sims with story mode

On your active lot you have complete freedom to decide whether they get married or carry on the family so that will not effect your legacy and you can carry it on as long as you wish.
If there is an issue with story-mode not 'replacing' older sims with young ones then it will be in the town rather than on the lot that you actually play. |
