Default The Sims 3 patch released!

A patch has now been released for The Sims 3, which you can download by starting the game launcher and selecting "Game Updates"*.

The change log is as follows:
  • Addresses some issues with Speed 2 and 3 moving too slowly. Some machines will have better results when using Speed 2 and 3 now.
  • Fix to story progression on/off selection toggle.
  • Fix for a possible crash with audio code.
  • Fix for babysitter routing off lots with babies.
  • Addresses some issues with Vsync and refresh rate problems.
  • Addresses some issues with DVD authentication errors and drive compatibility on startup.
  • This update deals with some issues on Mac systems that can crash the game while connecting to AFP servers.
  • Fix for a freeze that can occur when Sims attempt to clean out bad food from the fridge.

*Note: You will need the EA Download Manager installed to receive the patch.

I'm about to download it now. How long does it take?

And by the looks of it the only major thing is the speed

It took me less than 5 minutes.
I'm about to go onto my game, so I'm hoping that the patch fixed the speeds. It's going to be great with the speeds working!

It fixed my duck problem too (I couldn't delete or move the baths because the duck was in use).

OK, so I run the Launcher, it tells me there is a software update available.
I select download and install and it tries to open a web page but gets a 404 Page not found error. It is trying to open:
The Sims 3

I close the web page and there is an install window that tells me that it has found an invalid file at 87% installed:

Processing Game\Bin\Shaders_Win32Precomp

What is going on please.

Have you installed any third-party patches / updates / items? If so remove them and try to install the patch again.

Is there any possibility of future patches not requiring EA download manager?

Unlikely as that appears to be how they're updating the game now.

I thought they would've just used the Sims 3 Launcher

My EA Download manager doesn't work at all. I've tried everything I know, but whenever I try and open the downloader nothing happens, or if I click settings just a white box appears. I have already tried reinstalling it, and even reinstalling my whole Sims 3 game.

I have the latest version of flash too.

If you are still having problems then please contact EA Support and they should be able to give you further advice and suggestions.

Well the speed increased a fair bit, so it's not bad. Definately saving more time now, instead of watching my sim sleep

I'd just like to let anyone know who is having the same problem as me to check your anti virus/firewalls. It seems a trial of Mcafee was blocking my access to the EA download manager. Hope this helps someone!

This patch doesn't fix anything worth while. They should of have released one that fixes error codes and crashing and compatibility issues with Vista x64.

Ugh, makes me sick.

Vista in general, not just 64.

It really doesn't matter. What does matter is that they didn't fix any of the problems I'm having. And my problems are serious. And besides, many people are starting to experience these problems all of a sudden.

When I had this, I searched through google, the issues for some have appeared in the first few hours of playing. What I do find odd is that I didn't have any error codes before I downloaded downloadable content. When I did and then around 2 days later when I decided to use a hairstyle I had downloaded, the codes started appearing.
