I've now played for about 6 hours in total.... Wow! I made the Brody family - dad hunter, mum alexis, daughter caitlyn, and then they had twins, ruby and sienna, and mum is now pregnant again! So far I absolutely love the game, as I said before my processor is below the minimum specs and so far it's been running pretty much perfectly (it did sort of crash once but I think that was just me trying to move it too fast), hardly any lag at all, and with my graphics card which only just reaches the minimum specs the graphics are great. The only complaint I have is that the time runs too slowly! But then again it gives you more time to pay attention to detail so I don't really mind

Thanks EA!

when i tell to a sims to pick the child from crib, he's staying about 30 (or more) seconds in front of crib for taking the child.. Just staying.. doing nothing. And when child needs to bleeder, i'm not worry about, becouse i know i can't take it from crib fast enough..

Default So slow

There is only a very slight difference between speeds 1 and 2/3/4. There's no difference between speeds 2/3/4 whatsoever. I cannot play this game if I have to wait 10 minutes for the sims to wake up. I more than meet the minimum system requirements, and if a patch to fix this isn't provided soon, I will want to return the game and get a full refund. This is so disappointing as it's such a huge gameplay flaw.

I think a lot of people don't realise that 3/4 are the same.

One of my main annoyances that iI've come to find is that when you are looking after toddlers, the kids will have to walk/crawl over to an 'open' space so that the adult can pick them up, which often involves my toddlers crawling from their room, halfway across the house, just so that they can be picked up to be put in their crib back in their room. It seemed a lot more efficient in TS2.

Default More feedback

I like it but the cracks are beginning to show, I'm already a bit bored of it, however I think with TS3 there is much more potential in store with the release of EPs. In certain aspects of the game it definitely feels as though they have taken steps back when compared to TS2, I know I shouldn't say this but the whole thing feels rather lazy at times, I mean come on, they've blatantly just recycled some of the animations from TS2, WooHoo seems shorter and they don't even have an animation for getting into cars like they did in TS2. The things I like about it are the customization options though this took me a while to work out how to do, however while this is good and means you can finally get everything to match and colour coordinate in a room this is also very time consuming and boring.

The actual sims in IMO look worse than in TS2 however that said, I recently saw a comparison between a sim being created in CAS in TS2 and a sim being created in TS3 and there were big differences, there is more shading in TS3 so they are more pleasing on the eye but they all have those stupid chubby faces which no one can seem to alter no matter how much time you spend in CAS. I think the key factor to realise here is that TS2 is more cartoonified when you compare the graphics to TS3, TS3 is more realistic looking. I am absolutely loving the new neighbourhood and the beach, I could seriously watch that for hours, wish I had it as my screensaver and I love the fact that you can zoom in and out without waiting between loading screens, it's been a long time coming but they finally realised this is what we've been waiting for. Other minor complaints include the fact that there really aren't many hairstyles or clothing ranges to choose from, there were more in TS2, the game is not very user friendly, I am an experienced sims player and even for me I had trouble working out the controls (I do take into consideration the fact I'm playing on a laptop). Also one thing I really dislike are the rabbit holes, this means when you take your sim to most community lots you are unable to watch them inside the lots, I've said this once and I'll say it again but what is the point of having community lots if you can't see your sim visit them? You could even do this in TS2! The timing speeds are ridiculous, even if you change your graphics settings it still goes slow and takes around 10-15 minutes real time for them to wake up or come home from work, boring much? The game just feels like a glorified version of TS2, like another add-on or something, it's not much of a leap from TS2, certainly not as much as compared to TS1 and the leap to TS2, bit disappointing as I always imagined TS3 to look like actual real life people.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the soundtrack especially when in buy or build mode sucks, I've even had to mute the music in the game.

I dislike that if you put up a wall/fence, then immediately delete it using ctrl+drag, you lose money. You have to press undo to get the full amount back.

Kinda sucks.

I do agree that it is annoying that it goes slow but I really wouldn't say its unplayable. I usually just have my ds or a book with me for when they sleep and i usually end up missing them waking up! It goes a little faster when you go into town view by the way. It is irritating but i really think people are exaggerating, if you think of how much time you save not waiting for things to load; then you spend about the same amount of time actually playing the sims 3 as you did the sims 2 so It isn't that big a deal.

Default It's...fun!

Once I got it working, i love this game. And a note here, it crashed even before i could even load the neighbourhood UNTIL I uninstalled the download manager and it's been perfect ever since. Who knows what's up with that, but i don't miss it or anything. It runs better than any sims game has on my system which is now running a little above spec. The timing... too fast! the days pass so quickly! but they whiz around town, and don't seem to sleep that long, it seems strange that it's going so slowly elsewhere.

Some of the Buy music sounds like the seven dwarves whistling while they work and the sims are all, as someone has said, a lalalalalaubby, which is a wee bit irksome. But the neighbourhood and no load screens are awesome, i love the moodlets and little challenge things they get, plus carrying around a guitar in their inventory and going to play by the beach, that's brilliant! also, custom music in-game is enjoyable.

And the houses and gardens are beautiful! love the new plants, much less rigid. and the skill classes are a good idea. plus... they move up their career paths so quickly! they don't even seem to need all the prerequisites, but it's good, you can just work on performance.

A lot of people don't like that you can't see in some of the community lots, but methinks me smells an expansion pack. Also, it doesn't bother me at all. You can see inside the parks and the gym etc, i don't really feel the need to watch my sim watching a game...

It's fun and addictive... everything ya need from the sims.

EA disgusts me.

Also i recently found out about a "walkaround" for the broken story progression feature, where i had to edit the Target tag to deactivate that feature, but even when i do that, my families are still moving out, vanishing, dying, etc... is there ANY way to get around it? The game is unplayable right now and EA should be ashamed of themselves.
Just turn off the story progression under options and play sims 2-style. The game programmers prob had the corporate side up their bums to complete in time so we fans wouldn't complain it was late and lose sales. They'll probably release a patch to fix things, hence feedback forum i suppose. Fans wanted a perfect game and they wanted it now... you can't have both but at least it's here and i bet they're working on it!! Just look at the game... it says a LOT of work to me. and it's beautiful.

A lot of people here, complain about The Sims 3. For example community lots a.k.a. rabbit holes... okay... you want them good old entryable watchable editable commlots, but have you considered, how much more work (and thus time) it would take to make these? I say we can feel ourselves lucky, that they released TS3 when they did, or we could wait a lot longer for it (and now ask yourselves: "Wouldn't you be lalalalaed by that?")

I like the TS3 the way it is right now. Yes there isn't a lot of objects, hairstyles, clothing. BUT was there more of this stuff in TS2 compared to TS1+all EPs??? NO... now you're comparing TS3 vanilla with the full strike of TS2+all EPs. I believe (and hope) that EA+Maxis, will release a bunch of new EPs and collections for TS3 aswell. Along with patches and upgrades, you know the game might not be the top of the mountain... yet. But it will get there. That's why there is Gameplay Feedback topic, that you can write what's wrong with the game in, and so that EA might check and see, and eventually respond (by words > "response" or actions > "patches")

And I seriously hope that we won't have to buy every single item from the damned Store. Store should be for those epic wonderful awesome items, that would benefit the game in a more.... efficient way than just decoration, or a decoration that would be a thing to behold and download. (Instead of a vase with few dried out branches of even more dried out flowers).

I played a game from the moment I got it and saved each time with no problems until yesterday when it crashed while saving and now the game shows up in the start box but is grey and unclickable. That means that I have lost all of the family that I so lovingly created and played with.
I also agree with the people who say that the fast forward should be faster.

I totally agree. That is one downfall I have. Where is the realism in cars just appearing and sims just disappearing into them. What happened to driving out of your driveway? Now that was cool.

I also agree that they need to speed up the ultra speed because at the moment, it's so drastically slow to what I would expect it to be. I got bored when my sim was at work... there was nothing to do because she was a single lady!

However on the good side, I do love the customisation of clothing, hair, etc. I took ages fiddling making my initial sim... it's so fun! More clothing is definately needed and something I'll look forward to getting in the expansion packs.

One idea I've always had... allow sims to break bones, etc and require casts and so on. Now that's realistic. Also, bring in a pram... no more babies on the floor please!

Have you tried changing all your game setting to the lowest they can go? That may help with the random crashes.

The Sims 2 used to do that to me until we got a new computer and then it ran like a dream without a problem. This is the same computer I run The Sims 3 on without any problem!

Perhaps you may need to check your graphics card and also your storage space on your hard drive. Perhaps it crashes because you don't have enough additional space to save? Not too sure though, sorry.

It would be better to know the actual specs. In a lot of cases the graphics card is what lets an otherwise good machine down. Not to mention, what was the 'best machine ever' a couple of years ago is near obsolete. Are you Vista or XP?

You could at least try to play it on low, so that you know whether the crashes are a graphics or performance issue. We're only trying to help.

Default The Sims 3 My Overview

Lets start by saying what a great game, good at starting up and well made.
The good points are these, new stuff to do like opportunities, rewards and Sim life points. I would go as far as to say it was better than the first and second Sims. I do think that the Sims 3 needs tweaking a little though, for instance:

- Fix the problem where your Sims just disappear completely from the game (Really annoying especially when you have just been excelling in career)

-A lot more interactions with objects and perhaps more challenges

- More objects in game because there is too little as far as I'm concerned

- Is there any point in getting a car? Might as well just get a taxi or run.

- The most annoying thing is you cant see your sims see a film, watch a football match at the stadium, can't move lots.

- And lastly we need a neighbourhood creator desperately.

Despite this negative feedback I would definitely say that I am eagerly awaiting the expansion pack and the new update to fix the problems. I give this game a

I would like to try doing that. My game is constantly crashing, I have improved my GB 144, 108 free. I'm using a laptop, so the graphics card isn't enough, but I don't think it should be taking so long to save, I do that frequently due to the constant freezing or crashing.. I'm going to uninstall the download manager, has anyone else found that helps?

Since I care to post, it means I love the game !

There is a dialogue bug: as the relationship with my character's girlfriend improves, I get the option of asking her to move in, but I don't use it yet. Later, I take the options of making a permanent romantic relationship (that is when she gets the girlfriend status). In the meantime the option to have her move in DISSAPEARED and will not come again. Also, by missing a marriage proposal just after declaring a relationship, THAT ALSO DISSAPEARED. I ended up with not being able to either marry her or have her move in.

I had a save just when the relationship was declared. I loaded that save and married her (a two step, with private marriage), then I was given the choice of moving in at her lot or at mine. That bypasses losing the option to ask her moving in, but it obviously doesn't help with my later save. In any case, these dialogue option dissapearances are BUGS. Another one is that I can't "get to know" her more times(there were still two unknown traits before marriage).

There is also a bug where she gets stuck at a chess set in a park. She gets unstuck with hunger or something. There is also an engine bug where she sat in bed with my character and every two seconds or so her animation was zapping in and out of cuddling (between relaxing and cuddling).

As usual, EA releases the game before decent beta testing is completed.

If I worked at EA I would have probably buckled under the pressure and high demand of the public and released it also. It's a shame it has little glitches and things but we all know they'll fix that as soon as they are able to do so. For example, that patch to fix the speed was set up quickly!

First of all...I like the game. 'Nuff said.

Secondly: A few suggestions for your next EP:

1) Bring back the car ownership options from Nightlife. You know, the one where the Sims sets ownership, can have the alarm installed, and the car pool no longer comes for them? Yeah, those. I'm not even asking for the animations for them...just make it so that if I buy my Sim a car, I don't have to still put up with the car pool, as my Sim decides to ride in the car pool most of the time, unless I click work on the car...but I have to be quick!

2) Bikes: Same thing: Ownership option, no security alarm installed, but the game sees it as another "car" and doesn't let the carpool come if the Sim owning the bike wants to ride their bike to work.

3) Bring back e-mail. Please! Although I *can* get my Sim in a relationship and all that, it seems funny that the e-mail option was taken out of the computer. E-mail would make maintaining relationships *so* much easier.

4) Washers/Drysers...make them an appliance, have them cost the same as the disposal (or the dishwasher, whichever is cheapest), and when the Sim clicks on them, they get a modest hygiene boost. Would be great for my Legacy Sims.

5. Regarding cars again: Why is it that when a husband takes his wife to the hospital, unless I direct them too, they don't automatically take the family car? Instead one takes the taxi and the other follows. That's so wrong.

And if they go to the hospital they should come and go together. If the husband is the car owner and is not at home, the wife takes the taxi, but the husband meets her in the hospital and they drive the family car home. I hope they fix that in the first EP.

Well, there's a couple of other things, but I don't want to turn this thread into a Suggest An Idea forum...but overall, I like the game!

Oh yes one more thing....even if it's a rabbit hole...community lot: Laundromat!
