Spybot Search and Destroy is good, and it's FREE.

spybot

I don't know if it's the BEST or not, but millions of people use it and are happy with it (myself included). No program can get rid of SecuROM though if that's what you are looking for?

Go away!!!

just joking! no problem. but just a suggestion...pm him instead by clicking his name and selecting "send a personal message" lol. wouldnt want my thread to become filled with random stuff lol.

Back on to SecuROM, I would be interested in seeing how many people have had problems with it, and how many havn't.

Simply place a vote on the poll located on the first page of this thread.

Thankyou

Why does someone who hasnt had a game with it on need a slap? They should be given a hug cause their lucky not to have been violated.
Also this forum alone isnt a good enough pool of people for a poll like that. The majority of people on this forum needed to be explained to what securom was and which games had securom.

Just because the company SAYS SecuROM is 100% safe does not make it TRUE, but neither is it necessarily true when people claim SecuROM has been directly responsible for damaging their hardware.
As I said, it was a NEW computer with a NEW hardisk, both perfectly working, before I insalled games with secuRm on them... you know: for me, after I lost all of my data (important files for school like homework and presentations I have been working for moths to make them perfect) this is more proof than needed. Even if it was not caused by secuRom, which I cannot imagine, I've had engough of it for my entire life!!! So if EA adds it to sims 3 I won't buy it, for those two reasons I allready axplained in this thread and all the other securom discissions!

Oh please understand, I don't disagree with you at all.

All I am saying is that even thought it was a brand new computer, that does not actually "prove" that it was SecuROM's fault according to LEGAL standards. SecuROM can claim maybe it was faulty hardware, a power surge, some other program, user error etc. It's not fair, but it's almost impossible to prove cause and effect of something like that without spending a lot of time and money doing a detailed controlled experiment using many different computers - and who is going to pay to do that? And the company knows this, and thus they can legally claim SecuROM has never hurt any computer - even though it seems unlikely to actually be "true" - that's the nature of our legal system. =(

I fully understand why you feel the way you do and are making the choice not to buy any more games with that kind of lalalala hidden inside them.

I'm sorry, you are right. When I installed mine, it was still free and I did not realize it had changed since then. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

Hrm, it looks the same...and I know when I installed mine it was FREE. I don't remember what link I got mine from (it was like 6 months ago), but maybe some site try to charge money for something other sites give away free. I just don't know - all I know for sure is that mine was free 6 months ago.

Sorry for cluttering your thread by participating in an off-topic discussion. I placed my vote ("no") as requested and will try to shut up now. hehe
