Hope that one of you can help me. I'm buying a new laptop and I'd like to know if it's going to be able to run the Sims 3 or not- I've looked at the system requirements but I'm finding it difficult to understand how it compares.

The laptop is a Packard Bell MH36-V-370: http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/prod...rmationSection

Thanks in advance, hope that someone can make this clearer for me!

Only thing that sticks out for me is the 1.66GHz

Sometimes people want a human opinion because it's more adequate and accurate than some machine that might not even read your specs properly thank you very much. (:

Well I was under the impression that it could only tell you about the computer you were using rather than one you're thinking of buying.

So the only trouble is the 1.66 Ghz- does the fact that it's a dual core processor make any difference?

Yes. Learning from a computer whiz in here, dual core (or core 2 architecture) will run it fine. It's the equivilent to 2.6/8 Pentium 4. That's good!

'Can You Run It?' says that my computer will run TS3 fine, but I still have doubts about my graphics card - it's ATI Radeon X1250 and I'm not sure if it's good enough or not? My other specs will work fine with the game though.

9600GT is slightly faster I think. About 10-15%.

Which is best 9500GT or the 8800GT?

My card is overclocked and has a video memory of 2.3GB.

according to all the bumpf ive been looking at, the 8800gts is the better card, but they are basically, performance wise, the same.

And you don't have to sell your kidney for it either.

ASUS EN9500GT Top is world's first overclocked GeForce 9500 GT Card

I thought I'd provide a link to explain and I'd be greatful if you could have a look and tell me if I could run TS3 on high settings with it?

I believe so.

I'm by no means a computer geek, but if you have a good processor, plenty of memory and a good graphics card (sims only needs 128MB dedicated, this is 512MB) then you will be able to run sims 3 on high - in my opinion.

I'm sure someone will either explain better or confuse you more, but basically hannah I reckon that card will eat sims 3 for brunch!

Thank you for your help, I just want it to run well. You seem to know what you're talking about more so than me so I will take your word for it.

Ah so the memory is like the more important bit?

I just realised that my card (geforce 9400) isn't as good as I thought it was and I was really hoping I'd be able to handle Sims 3 on high settings (everything else is fine it's just my graphics card). I just assumed the higher the number the better the card.

Kind of.

The letters after the numbers are a major part too, for example an 8800GT would be better than a 9500GS. I think the letter relate to how much dedicated memory the card has.

The 9400 is on the supported list, so with decent RAM and processor you should be cushty old son!

Ah mine is GT and has 512 dedicated.

It doesn't actually show up on the supported list though, guess they forgot to put it in.

I have 4gb RAM and a 2.8ghz duel core processor so do you think I'll be able to push at high settings?
