for my cpu speed 'system requirements lab' said i was on the bar just before the min line which is due to me being 0.4 GHz short. Will this stop the game from running? Everything else seemed to pass so should it be ok?

most likely it will work on lower settings. if you have a friend who has the game borrow it and try it out. if it works at a level that you are happy with then go ahead and buy it. if not then either get a new computer(which is expensive) or go without(which is difficult). if its a desktop you could easily just get a new processor for it, but a laptop is much more difficult to upgrade. 0.4ghz isn't much so it could easily work.

most of the time games will easily work on computers that are less powerful than the requirements. especially if you drop the resulution.

Default I can't run it either!

Directed @ EAUK_Aurora,

Apparently by my 'GHz' is not big enough. I have a 1.6 and a 2.4 is needed. How can I rectify this? I've tried looking at other laptops on pcworld and other computer companies yet none seem to have this high a level of 'GHz'.

What can we do?

it depends on the type of processor you are running. if you have a core2 duo processor then it won't need as high a speed. (thats the GHz bit).

Yep thats fine, it only says 8600 cos there is the 8600 GS etc. it means all 8600 models, so yours will be fine.

when you say won't need as high a speed, that means it will run but won't need to run too quickly to work well.

Alright, this is really bugging me. It seems everything's in check except my graphics card, even though it runs Sims pets stories perfectly, and with beautiful graphics:

IntelCore2Duo @ 2.00 GHz
4GB of RAM
64-bit Vista Home Premium
358MB of memory
Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family Graphics Card

It's a laptop, by the way. Gateway, model T-6836

Intel 965 express is actually just another name for the Intel X3100. That's supported, albeit with higher requirements becuase it's a slow card, but you meet those higher requirements so it's fine

It should have no problem with any of that, I'd be very surprised if Sims 2 and Sims 3 didn't run on highest settings too.
