Yeah if you get the download version instead then you don't need the disk, I forgot about that

I think you can still get the download version by putting your serial number in from a disk version you've bought, but you have to do this before you register the game.

If the 4330 is about the same speed as ATI's older HD3450 card (seems likely from what I read), then according to this guide it will work fine on low settings, but probably struggle on anything higher. That site's recommended settings wouldn't run smoothly, for example. You probably wouldn't have to put everything on absolute lowest, but I think most settings would have to be kept fairly low.
Thank you! I'm not sure if you know much about Dell laptops, but I read somewhere that some of the Dell Laptops video cards are replaceable, is this true? If so I'd like to maybe try and replace mine to a better video card. Or maybe even overclock the video card a little bit. Do you recommend this to get better performance?

The graphics cards in some Dell laptops are replaceable, yes, but it depends on the specific laptop you have and the card it has at the moment. It's a very difficult job to do, you have to take the laptop apart completely.

I don't really know much about overclocking I'm afraid, I know it depends on the card you have though. Try searching your laptop/graphics card on google and see if other people have tried it.

Yeah it should, you will probably have to use low settings though due to the graphics card.

Hey could somebody tell me if the Sims 3 will work on this laptop?

It's an Acer with these things:

AMD Athlon Dual Core QL-64 processor. 3Gb RAM. 320Gb hard drive. 15.6ins TFT widescreen display. DVD Super Multi drive. Integrated Intel graphics. 802.11 b/g/n WiFi. 0.3Mp webcam.

Many thanks in advance

Do you know what the graphics card is? As in, the full model name/number?

If it's a recent laptop, it's very likely it's fine anyway, and will run the game. However Intel cards are slow and will run the game on lowest graphics settings only.

Are you sure that's the same laptop? The HD3650 is a much better, dedicated card, made by a different company (ATI). Would probably run the game somewhere between medium and high. Intel cards will only ever work well on low unfortunately.

If you were originally looking at the laptop on a different site they might have the same one or at least a similar one with a different card.

Would the game run on this computer, and how good would the graphics be? Will it run smoothly and fast?

Packard Bell iMedia lalala18uk Desktop PC and TFT Monitor from PC World - Cheap Packard Bell Desktop Computers and the latest Packard Bell Desktop PC deals.

I'm just thinking of getting a new computer, and i want to know if this would be any good.

EDIT: If not i was thinking of this one, which is a little dearer, but which one would you recommend?

HP Pavilion p6047uk Desktop PC with 20" monitor - Order cheap HP computers online
The first one should run it well on medium, second one on high.
However you could get better value if you buy online, e.g. if you bought this from ebuyer and one of their £90-£140 monitors. That spec would then run the game better than either of the PCs you found. The only thing you miss out on is extras like a Blu-ray drive.

Others have bought from sites like PC Specialist, where you can completely customise your own spec, that could even be cheaper.

It should run with most things on medium, so something a bit like this.

Compared to highest.

There are also some more comparisons here.

Default Help!

I love The Sims2 so really want The Sims3

The Sims2 does not work with my new laptop, gameplay always freezes and locks up. I tried everything the Technical Support suggested but nothing work!

So I am just worried that The Sims3 wont work on my new laptop because of the Graphics Card.

Graphics Cards: 'Mobile Intel(r) 965 Express Chipset Family'

Does this Graphics Card work with The Sims 3? The memory and speed of the Card matches the requirements for the game and the computer requirements match the game too!

Please Help!!!

Intel 965 is a supported card for Sims 3, as long as you use low graphics settings.
Just make sure you have at least 1.5GB RAM or it will run very slowly.

If you are having crashes, you could try updating the graphics drivers, they're on Intel's site.

Thank your for you help!!

I tried that but I found out that my graphics driver is manufactured different for Dell or something like that (can't remember lol) so I can only get the upgrade by contacting the manufacturer.

Also I dont understand the 'Pixel Shader 2.0'. Is my graphics card supported by it and how do I get this?

Thanks,
Nic x

Yeah Intel 965 (or sometimes it's called X3100) has Pixel Shader 2.0 support and it's on the supported cards list.

If you go to the support section of Dell's site and click the option for drivers and downloads, you can probably get an updated graphics driver there.

That CPU is clearly good enough, CYRI doesnt seem to recognise dual core processors so unless you don't have a dual core, ignore it.
