200 pound though, no chance.

Thanks guys I posted the specs on another forum and someone told me I shouldn't bother coz it was Quad Core and the graphics card isn't that great but I'm not looking for the best graphics ever, as long as it runs smoothly I'm happy

Oh and I'm from Glasgow

Check this pc from there - Intel Quad Q9550 (2.83ghz), 4Gb RAM and a gtx280 1gig, £1000, that would cost near enough 2 grand anywhere else.

That pc spec i put up was just a 400quid base unit, you can adjust and change the spec and improve it no end, just showing that peep a decent pc for decent money.

8GB RAM
160 gb hard drive
1024 GeForce 9800GT graphics

£776

If you have a desktop, you could upgrade the RAM and graphics card, then you'd meet the requirements. It definitely should be under £200 to do that, although that's just the cost of the parts, it's assuming you don't have to pay for someone to do the work for you.

If you have XP, that's fine, if you have Vista you will need to upgrade your RAM.

I know this will be a pain in the neck for most but I need to ask anyway.

I read the laptop requirements for Vista machines and would like to ask opinions on my laptop:
2.4Ghz Pentium4 Processor or 2400+ Processor
I have: Intel Core2 Duo CPU T7250 2.00Ghz

2Gb RAM
I have: 2Gb RAM

128Mb Video Card (GeForce 6200 or Radeon Mobile 9600)
I have: NVidia GeForce 8400M GT

6.5Gb Hard Drive Space (+1Gb for custom content)
I have: 95Gb free at the moment but will be clearing up more when I delete some rubbish.
The only problem I can see is the 0.4 drop in Ghz for the processor, I have had games before where as long as settings were low a 0.1-0.5Ghz drop in processor was fine, but will this be alright with The Sims 3?

I really would appreciate anyones input on this.

Gary

Your processor is fine, its a core 2 duo, the 2.4 is referring to a pentium 4 processor, yours will be equivalent to like a 3GHz P4.

The processor requirement is a 2.4GHz Pentium 4, or equivalent.

A 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo is equivalent in terms of speed to at least a 3.0GHz Pentium 4 due to its better design, and that's even before you consider the fact that the core 2 duo has two cores.

So you should have no problem

It's not really certain at this point, at least from how I'm reading the minimum specs. The requirements state that the minimum supported card is the 6200, your 6100 is slower than this and every other card on the list, unfortunately.

But then afterwards there's a line that states:
Quote:
Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily.
It's not really specific but the 6100 fits that definition the way I'm reading it, so that would suggest it should work. As far as I know, the only thing that the 6100 is lacking is speed, it has all of the features needed to run the game. So unless the game rejects it based on it being too slow, which isn't something common in games, I think it will probably work
