Hello,

I am buying a laptop for college next year and I need it for school but i also want to be able to play sims 3.

The computer's an HP Pavillion DV4-1220US Notebook computer
-AMD Turion x2 dual core RM-72
-250GB hard drive & 4gb memory
-14.1" 1280x800
-Vista Home Premium 64-bit w/SP1
-Ati 3200 graphics card.

The sales people tell me i can, but then again they'll say anything to get me to buy itfrom them....

Can someone please let me know asap so i don't buy the laptop only to find out it doesn't work...

Graphics card doesn't have enough memory, and I don't think the processor is fast enough.

Graphics card isn't on the supported list, so I don't think it works. And you didn't mention the Video Memory. You also didn't mention the processor speed. I'm not much at AMD, anyway. I searched it and it says the processor is 2.1ghz, but didn't mention any Video memory. Personally, I think 64-bit Windows has very good graphics, but it lags more easily.

It should work, but only on lowest graphics settings (HD3200 is a slow card).

How's this one? It's the HP Pavilion D7-1140ed

Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core - ZM-80.
Memory: 3072MB
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 with 512/1789 MB.

I think it will work, but will it work on the highest graphics settings?

The HD3450 will only run it smoothly on settings somewhere between low and medium.

Default Will this laptop run Sims 3?

Hi Rohannn,

Seeing as you've been so helpful to pages and pages of posters i was wondering if you would be able to tell me if this spec laptop will run Sims 3? And if so, on what settings do you think?

My laptop blew up recently, so seeing as i am replacing it, i would like to have something that would play Sims 3 - i'm not a big gamer so if it can Play Sims 3 on lower (peferably not lowest) or medium settings that would be great.

Processor: AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor QL64
Speed: 2.1GHz, 1MB Cache
Hard Drive: 320 GB
Graphics: ATi Radeon HD 3450
Graphics Memory: 512 MB

Thanks

It will run the game on settings somewhere between low and medium. Shouldn't have to use absolute lowest.

I am able to play the game with an ATI Radeon X1200, even though it is not in the " supported" list. Just wanted to inform the world about this.

Last edited by megacoolegast; 01-07-2009 at 01:04 AM.. Reason: I largely comply with alle the other requirements, though

Default Decent Computer to play the Sims 3.

I'm looking for a new computer to play the Sims 3 on, as my current one is just playing up and it's no good.

Can anyone recommend a decent computer, which they have or no off which is good to play the game. Possibly has good graphics and is at fast speed as well.

Thanks

EDIT: Would this one be any good?

Other recommendations would be helpful.
