On the page on thesims3.com it's listed under "supported graphics cards". And also on the back of the game box

Yes, that meets the requirements
You will probably have to use low graphics settings in the game though.

Hi,

Yes it will.

As the graphics card is low end you may need to run on lowest settings thou.

Your CPU is also Duo Core, it is basically two Processors in one so it double the clock speed.

I know some of these scanners don't recognise duo core etc and sometimes says it failed althou it hasn't.

Hey, I'm thinking about purchasing a computer as my laptop could probably run The Sims 3, but very slowly. I don't want to spend that much money, so here's what I'm looking at:

Future Shop: Computers: Desktop Computers: HP Intel Pentium Processor E2220 2.40GHz Computer with HP 20" LCD Monitor (A6834F-B)

Is it good enough to run TS3 in high/medium settings?

Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory: 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256MB

Oui?

If you want the game to run smoothly on those settings, you really need a better graphics card.

For high, something like: nvidia 8600 or higher numbered, 9500 or higher, GT 120 or higher; or ATI HD 3650 or higher, or HD 4650 or higher.

Should I get XP or Vista on the new computer? I'm just wondering if I really need the room for an extra 2GB of RAM with Vista, and I don't know what other benefits there are to the newer system. Also, I've occasionally heard Vista's terrible..

Also, XP to XP cables available? Or can I just use those marketed for XP to Vista?

I would get whatever's newest at the time, so that's Vista now. XP is a bit out of date. Of course Vista will be replaced with Windows 7 in a few months (I think in a few weeks they start the "buy a PC with Vista now and get free Windows 7 upgrade on release" programme). Vista isn't bad in my experience, especially with service pack 2, though I haven't used it for a long period of time. I've run it on a PC with only 1GB RAM and it seemed fine.

Are you talking about those USB file transfer cables?
If so, you don't need one if you have wireless internet (you can transfer the files over the network) or even just a spare network cable to connect the two PCs together directly. I don't really know much about the transfer cables though.

Yes it will, no problem.
You won't be able to use the highest graphics settings but should have no problems with things on at least medium

Medium settings look fine, it's what I use on my PC and I don't have any problem with it

There are comparison screenshots here:

It should work fine, as long as you keep to low graphics settings.

ok thanks .
i checked it on system requirements lab and it said everything worked except the CPU speed which was too low.I have a intel pentinum dual processor @1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz. i dont really understand this as i thought if it was dual it would be double it and therefore work?
everything else seems alright but i dont want to waste £30 if it doesnt work.
Thanks again

It should work fine, for your graphics card the official minimum requirement is 1.8GHz dual-core, but people with less (e.g. 1.6GHz or 1.73GHz) have found it still runs OK.
