OMG! sooo excited. the only thing which is boggling my mind is the 'everything is playing all the time' aspect. so when you are playing one family all the other families in the neighbourhood are aging and carrying on with thier lives? but it doesn't make no sense because what if a sim is pregnant and your not playing them? they gunna pop a baby out and have no name? someone help sort this out for me i dont like being boggled xxx

There’s an option to turn off neighbourhood ageing.

I can't wait for the Sims3, and I soooo hate the fact that there was an event and I didn't know about it. Loved the Pictures and interview details, great info. Can anyone answer a couple of my questions though if possible... In Sims3 will it be easier to create Basements, I love doing that, also is the furniture now able to be placed along the diagonals and be useable without using boolprop, never used it myself just lived with the depression of not having the houses the way I liked, and creating circular rooms, possible or not, I am going nuts thinking about loads of things like this, but these are my top questions.

Haven't ready anything about different degrees of diagonal wall layout, or curved walls, or basements, so I am still without answers.
The walls can be expanded and retracted in one move though so thats an imrpovement.

I believe that in Sims3 while your playing one family if something happens with your other family then if something with the first happens like this there will probably be an interesting little window coming up showing you whats happening with the other Sim just like the Closeup window in Sims2 when something of importance happens, and there will probably be a link button so you can quickly switch to that Sim, as everything happening is real time there wont be load screen on the switching either.

yeh that makes sense. and i love the idea of no loadin screens. it will be so much better. my sims 2 started crashin with loaded screens so i had 2 delete most of my games, i av only got sims 2, seasons and apartments on it now ( i have got all the games apart frm the 'stuff' packs) because it was crashin all the time!

Although I can't diagnose what might be wrong with your computer I will tell you this, I had a similar problem as this when I first loaded the Sims2 EP's on my PC, I didn't update one of them and for some reason this impacted the running of my game. I Copied out the Save Game file and uninstalled all my EP's then the Base Game, Restarted my PC, Went to my motherboard creaters website and got the latest editon of drivers, then did the same for all my hardware components, Graphics, Monitor driver even. Then I restart my PC and Installed the Base game again, tried it out, then installed an EP, let it check and install updates, then tried it, and so on until I had installed all the EP's. Haven't had any problems since, Not saying this is gonna help you, but its worth a shot, Be aware though it takes a few hours to do it this way so Saturday morning start is probably a good way to go.

I have increased my education on Sims3 a bit more.
Apparently your correct Basements are indeed in the new game, and have been made easier to build, couldn't find much on how they done this but apparently they have. Also they have included a button which allows you to rotate any object 360deg so it can be placed at any angle... FANTASTIC now you can put your TV at an angle facing toward a couple of sofas and a chair so more people can watch it at once.
Imagine putting statues and stuff in corners but facing them at an angle facing towards the centre of the room.
Lights automatically adjust their brightness depending on weither you put them inside or outside, Their colour can also be set.... I'm soooooo looking forward to making a computer room with Blue Lighting.
There's miscelaneous objects like Perfume bottles, toilet roll holders and more which you can put in different places on units to completely personalise your particular Sims environment....
I have found out soooo much its ssooooooooooooo cool.

I had not heard about basements being easier to create, do you recall where you saw that information by any chance?

Well when characters not under your control have babies, the AI will choose their names I would think?

I don't think this game is designed where you play several families concurrently in parallel. You play only one family at a time and when you you select a family to control, you give up all control of any previous characters you formerly controlled (essentially turning them into NPCs), at least until you take control of them again.

If you want to control multiple families, they said you can have multiple save slots (a totally seperate version of the entire neighborhood where everything will happen differently for everyone), but you only control one family at a time and give up all rights and control of all characters outside that family/household while you are playing another family.

From this link

Sims 3 Info-The Sims 3 Information

last line under blue highlighted "Sims 3 info" section reads

There have also been small adjustments to the roof function and the basement building process that will make your game play even easier.

Thus far though thats as good a bit of info on basement building I have found.

Maybe you get to choose the name when you next play that family, and until then it is just called "baby"? I dunno! Its just one of those things where we'll have to wait and see...

I don't know if this is completely accurate I could be wrong but here goes anyway.
The idea of creating your own world is what Sims is all about, you can populate the entire neighbourhood with your own creations. Their lives will exist in time with the current family you are playing but if something interesting happens like a pregnancy then I recon there will be an (interest screen) pop up like there currently is in Sims2 like when the bills turn up, or your college prof turns up outside your dorm etc, though in Sims3 it probably has a button on it so you can switch from your current playing Sim to the one who is having the baby that way you wont miss interesting events from any of your characters... That's what I think might happen....

I agree, I don't think the creators would let important events such as pregnancies go unnoticed. I also believe that there will be a message and hopefully, the option to switch to that sim.

It's been established that there are loading screens for families, so you can't just switch from one sim to another that easily. At the moment, I play a huge number of families, so there is always something happening...it would suck if I had to choose between constant loading or missing important events. I'm not going to buy the game until I get more information on the cheat to turn off universal ageing.

There is no cheat to turn off automatic aging, why you ask, well EA realised that players were searching for that cheat alot for sims 2 so in Sims3 you can set the aging up from between 25 and 1000 days or turn it off completely, so no need for a cheat.... Just another little improvement they have made for our enjoyment.

If you have apartment life, you can adjust the height of the roofs,it's quite cool. Also I haven't seen anyone post about that when apartment life came out,I thought people would have liked that.
