Default Body shapes

according to some articles (cant remember which) sims 3 offers a great deal of body shape adjustments, I recall reading somewhere a few weeks ago that you'd be able to modify a body just as much as a face in the older sims...

well to my dissapointment this seems like a lot of BS...
on the screens I've seen there is only a skinny to fat slider
and a muscle slider...

seriously this is not total body control they claim, why the hack would every sim in the same age category have the same height?
sure some people are significantly bigger or smaller than others,
have a bigger behind, thinner legs but wider shoulders
huge feet or larger breasts...

hopefully some more modification will be possible if they really want you to be able to create someone you know, or at least very diverse characters...

Well atleast Body Shop is in the game then aye. But we've hardly seen any of the CAS body enhancements we cannot say anything just yet. As above just wait for more information

I totally agree with everything you said :3

They can't call it "total customization" if every sim in a patricular age group is the same height, or if every female sim has the same bust-size.

It's still a huge step up from the Sims 2, where you only had TWO options, either fat or skinny.
It would be nice to have total control of what the body will look like, rather than just a muscle/fat slider, but i'm greatful that at least they did something to make it better.

I was going to post this myself.

Really, before, they were telling us that you could have a Sim with fat legs and skinny arms.. things like that.. and now it's all been reduced to a slider.
Maybe they thought it was too much of a hassle; maybe we are just getting ahead of ourselves. We'll see.

Maybe they have something like..

um..

example:
[You click on the sims arms and you use the sliders to adjust the muscle/fatness]

i think that would work..

I believe the reason for standard non-customizable sim heights is because it would be too hard for them to programme the animations for interactions and items usage if there was infinite variety. Even with only 3 heights, thats still 3 lots of animations for each item, and all the possible combinations for sim-to-sim interactions. It would just be an impossible job with custom heights, think of all those kisses that would miss by a mile!

if animation would be a problem, the only reason would be that polygons start going through eachother (or not line up perfectly with other objects), but since you can go from skinny to pretty fat I'm sure that'd happen anyway. If a skinny girl cuddles a skinny guy they're probably pretty close to eachother, if the same girl cuddles a fat guy the polys'd start going through eachother, and since we have seen a fatness slider (no fixed steps) there are lots of fatnesses, so I'm sure they don't have a different animation for each tiny value of the slider. My point is they'd need to fix that horizontal problem with fatness the same way as a vertical height problem. So if one goes, to me the other should to.

It would be great to custimize every single thing on the body. Instead of the whole body.
