Certainly an interesting way to combat having families you want to control aging on their own. I still think its going to be hard for the absolute control freaks, but with the multiple savegame option you could play the same scenario over and over.

I just wonder how big these savegames will be, for those of us that would probably soon have 10+ savegames for a bunch of different scenarios it could get quite space intensive.

I thought it would just mean you could have different saves, so if things go wrong, you can go back on yourself, or also have two separate games on the go (my wife plays a lot also, so all my Sims will be aging while she's playing - and vice-versa). Have you got any other ideas how thins might work?

This is one of those times when I wish I had a time machine so I can just travel to the next year and skip all this waiting.....

So you are saying there will be a butterfly affect.Say,you do something like go to the shops and that action might have bad affect for someone else in the neighbourhood?

As long as we're not going to be restricted to only having one family to control (and I can't think we will be as what will happen when the kids move out of home? Would you have to choose which household to control?) I'm pretty sure you'd be able to play one household per save slot. At least I can't think of any way they could prevent us doing it that way

As far as I can see this would be an independent save. Closer to having two neighbourhoods.

Say you are playing with 2 save slots, concentrating on Family A in one, and Family B i the other. If you play as Family A for 5 days of their lives, Family B will age (and develop) simultaneously by 5 days' worth in that version.
When you then load in slot 2, Family B will be as you left them when you last saved in slot 2, but so will Family A, not exhibiting any of the changes you manipulated with them in the run up to saving last in Slot 1.
So the house that Family A (in save slot 1) build up to a fantastic mansion, would still appear as a dowdy house in Family B's version.
I think!
So it would work, sort-of, but only if you were happy to have the two houses independent of each other.

I agree, I really think that's how it's going to work. I can't imagine having a town with 30 families in it and being able to click on any sim at any time to control them, I'd never be able to remember what I was planning to do with each one. Even if that's how it did end up, I can see myself using the game slots to control specific families, and stick to one family at a time.

I must say - the way they have thought about sims 3 is good...and I do agree, the sims do look worse for wear! but who are we to complain!?
Still wanted a washing machine, and a washing line =[ but oh well!

I can't wait for sims 3! I agree that the houses havn't changed dramatically but you can be alot more creative and I'm gonna see if I can make an almost exact replica of myself.

one thing that i am worried about that many others have mentioned is the thought of the whole neighbourhood aging at the same time. i suppose you could pause the whole neighbour give everyone tasks then un pause and let them do and just monitoring them. that would be a bit difficult if you just want to concentrate on the one family though. all the i love the idea it will take a while to get used to.i cant wait but yet i still can since i still have some expansion packs to get for the sims 2. maybe they will drop price after the release of the sims3. i also have another query. would i have to get a new graphics card or more memory since i will want to keep the sims 2 on my pc. anyone else might have the same problems? also do you think that they will have expansion packs too? i also hope that we will be able to choose shoes!

hopefully the sims themselves are still a work in progress as they do look a little cartoon-ish

i'm sure they still are though; as we will be waiting for about a year still!

This is starting to sound a bit complicated, i mean i normally have a lot of plans in the sims with each family, will they be able to go shopping without instruction for example?

I like the idea, but would we be able to keep up with the new Sims?

I found stuff tht tells u about the stuff in TS3 hope it helps!

Neighborhood:
- Seamless Nhood: Your Sim can visit neighbors, parks and shops without a loading screen.
- All the neighboring Sims will live their life and age simultaniously as your Sim (They'll get married, get jobs, etc).
- The game will ship with 1 Neighborhood.
- Several weeks after the launch, there will be a tool available to create your own Nhoods.
- That Nhood will consist of about 97 different lots.
- When the game is out, you can download towns, made by other people.
- All buildings in the Nhood can be interacted with, so no prop buildings.
- Confirmed community places are: Pool, Park, Bistro, Clothing store, City Hall and Bookstore.
- The Nhood can expand by users and/or by expansionpacks.
- You can zoom out to see the whole Nhood at once or zoom in to a single Sim.

Sims:
- Personality sliders are reduced from 8 to 3, one being a Fun to Stress meter. Bladder, Hygiene, etc. are still there but hidden.
- Sims 3 have Traits. Choose 5 from around 80 types like Dreamer, Evil, Playful, etc. These Traits will affect how a Sim behaves towards others and affects their moods, like the mood of an Outdoorsperson will raise when he/she is outside. An evil Sim may slap another Sim.
- Traits could be passed down, and actions a Sim does during her pregnancy will affect the traits of her offspring.
- Moodlets instead of a moodbar. If something happens like a marriage, the Sim gets a moodlet. These moodlets will affect your Sims' mood and give abilities like learning faster. An example: Getting fired will get you a long lasting, big impact moodlet, while going to a small party will get them a short, non-dramatic moodlet.
- They will look after themselves better.
- Sims have certain skills like cooking or fishing.
- You can fulfil needs by simply clicking on an icon.
- Instead of fixed interaction (like Talk or Joke), the options are filtered on your current Mood or your Traits.
- Sims can aquire Dreams. Like if your Sim sees that a Neigbor has a big tv, your Sim can get a Dream to want one too. You decide then, to turn it into a Promise. Ignoring a Dream is ok, but ignoring a Promise gives you negative repercussions.

Careers/Jobs:
- You can follow your Sim in its car to work. You won't see your Sim working though; He/She will disapear in the building.
- Advancing in career is changed as it depends on skills, personality, relationship with colleagues/boss and even certain goals that has to be fulfilled. For example taking work home.
- Confirmed careers are Chef, Science and Military.
- Sims can take part-time jobs.

CAS:
- Body can be shaped as faces were in Sims 2.
- There are sliders for weight and fitness.
- Arm and legs are seperate so you can have a fat body and thin arms.
- Sims you created fat, can become thin by exersizing, thin created people get fat by eating a lot.
- You can choose specific Asian and African models.
- You can choose a Sims' favorite color, music type, food, etc.
- Shoes are seperate and can also choose barefoot.
- Clothes are customizable from CAS; Change the color of a certain piece of clothes or use your own patterns.

Misc
- Sims can cook and fish. Buy groceries or grow the food yourself.
- The game has been made so that will also run smoothly on older PC's.
- Clothes, furniture and homes can be customized.
- You can use your own patterns/colours and then apply it to anything through a drag-and-drop interface.
- The game will have modding tools built into it.
- There's no online multiplayer
- You can pick up items (garbage, books, etc) yourself with a Hand cursor.
- Wind will move the trees.
- Paintings that a Sim makes, will be unique to each Sim. It's based on its personality and mood.

Things that will not change:
- Sims still talk in Simlish
- Sims can still pee their pants, die of hunger, etc.
- Confirmed ages: Baby, Children, Adult, Elder.
- There are still thought bubbles that tell which needs must be fulfilled like Hunger. These bubbles show in the control panel though and not hover over the Sims' head.
- Sims still have an inventory system to put things in like groceries.
- There will be expansions.
- There are still same-sex couples and they can still adopt children.
- You can still design, build, and furnish a home.

Thanx, that's a useful summary. I've read about it allowing different shapes, but I'll be disappointed if exercise sends them in a set direction (ie muscular but thin). People can be underweight or overweight, sure, but they can also be 'big-boned' or petite. I also want different heights but I'm not very hopeful on that either

Brilliant find!! You can now have your sims have a fave colour!!! Likes and dislikes!!! So you could have a sim with her fave colour as red for example, you buy her a blue couch, she might not like it, and if you exit the game, you go back in to find she has replaced the old blue couch you bought her, and bought herself a nice fancy red one!
Another sim could have a like of friendliness, or something similar, and if he meet a friendly sim (like the one mentioned before) he could make friends easily, whereas if he has a dislike of nasty sims and he meets a nasty sim, he could have a harder time making friends with that sim.
This is going to be SO cool! I've already planned out my sims lives

The only thing that really bothers me is that I spent all my money buying the EP's for TS2. And now they have brought out a whole new series. What can I do with my old discs..?

Still I can't wait. ^^

Sims 3 sounds fantastic! More control over how a sim looks, not just set body shapes. Maybe a height adjuster too - one can dream!

I wonder if Sim Burglars can be sent to jail and be taken out of circulation for a time.

Hello there, EA! Everyone, including me, is asking for a height adjuster. I'd really like different Sim heights. So would plenty of other people. Please, please, EA...
