With all this amazing stuff and I'm guessing, fantastic graphics, I'm assuming that our computers will DIE from one second of playing this game.
I hope not, because I really want this game. <3

ok with only reading the first paragraph (i will read further more though) i have to say the aging thing with the whole game in motion to your sims...sounds a bit too far, i mean if you have two housholds one will die and youve hardly played it, as youve been more into playing the other one. with this a sim will age alongside you, and will again will die without you playing them much...which sucks, i hope this is optional. if not i fear sims 3 is going to far with the genre

I think it's a good idea. What if you don't like the other family next door? Then you could just ignore them and see them go about their business.

yeah, i kinda like the "den" thing, it ensures i know where each sims i play is at. as for this whole living neighbourhood, it should be optional. like if theres an npc you like, or a sim you like and you wanna keep them, i see the whole evolving world would mean you dont play the sims as long and they die too quickly, one thing they could do is have sim live alonger life, not just more life stages but more time within them so they last longer.

i see it as they could have most if not all stages we have in life. but yes gradual aging, but not just that, they still have a bar to see how long they got. as in you see an adult, hes young, about 20s looking say, and as you play him, he nears the 30s, 40s stages middle aged and all, and you see him, like real people gradualy decay basicaly. so the bar is still there to let you know when to plan a birthday, or to change his life style due to his new age, should you want to...like each bar, represents a 5 or 10 sim years. so a new born will have its first bar as 5 however long, and in that time it gradualy turns into a bigger child (a sim equvillant of 5), then they get a 10 however long bar and you see them age into an older child, to young teenager and then when it gets to a sim equvillant of 15 (hence the 5 and 10 bars and all) it has another 5 bar to its 20s. then the rest are like say 10 however long bars or something....it may seem a bit buggy idea but i only just came up with it, that way if the world is constantly moving and you switch to another sim you can easily see how its aged and where its at, possibly without having to select them all the time. plus, it gives them longer lives (like say maybe a week or two is a sim year, so a new born will live 5 weeks, or ten weeks till its 5, so each week or couple, if you wanna you can celebrate a birthday, like when its 1, 2, 3 and such. kinda gives actuall ages i think to sims, rather than a new looking size) of course they probably have already some up with their own way of doing it, im just saying thats how i imagine it to work kinda...

Our special correspondent gives that! And this time it’s not for a Bon Voyage because he already found the treasures chart: the Sims 3.

If you thought that St. Valentine's Day was one of the strong time of February ... you disabuse! It is in secret in San Francisco that the international press was invited to discover for the first time: The Sims 3! Indeed, it is in the fabulous and vast Studio Sims of San Francisco that journalists of all the countries were invited for this preview, in the middle of which a small mouse of the French community was able to interfere in ... at EA France's invitation

An exceptional opportunity to discover the future generation of Sims, the innovations of this new game waiting by the fans.

In the course of this article, I am going to try to share my impressions, to make you discover the new thing which will propose The Sims 3.

The Sims 3 : the game thinking for the fans

The desires of the fans were heard and concretized. The Sims 3 is going to allow us to personalize our Sims and their universe in some clicks. The limits of the game were pushed away for more game's pleasure and comfort.

Sims more true than nature :

The C.A.S (Create a Sim) is turn into true laboratory of genetics. The Sims that you will create will be unique as much by their outward aspect as by their character. The faces will be more realistic and better animated : in particular the eyes, which will not be fixed any more. Numerous cursors will offer themselves to us to parametrize all the elements of the face.

It's the same for the bodys. We can combine the characteristics: a Sim can be fine and lean, obese and muscular, it even seemed to me see a gauge for the appearance of the pregnant women. Asian, African models will give more varieties and of wealth as for their origin.

The characters of our sims will be considerably more complex and varied. The Sims 2 offered 5 Trait of character to weighted, The Sims 3 will propose 80. A Sim can accumulate the Traits : kleptomaniac (your Sims could find at such a Sim's the objects which he have stole), lucky, dreamy, family, whiny, genius (who will learn faster) …

You can allocate precise preferences to a Sim : his favorite color, its music style, its favorite course …

The wardrobe will be customizable from the C.a.S. We can change the color of a top or bluntly make him unique with pattern from our choice. Just as, we can choose the shoes of our Sims, among numerous models and even make them walk barefoot.

Our Sims will be more beautiful, more realistic, the reflection of our desire, their behavior will depend on our choices.

A revolutionary environment:

A Sim’s neighborhood will no longer be divided into different lots to be loaded individually. A huge zoom will allow us to see our Sim in his bed but also to take back to see the whole neighborhood. This means that there will be less loading time (not to write no loading time) to move from one lot to another.
Our Sims could left their home and go to their neighbour’s house or to the town-center without loading time. They can fish in a lake, chatting in the streets with neighbors or strangers. This in an environment more beautiful, richer and more alive… for example, a breeze will move the trees, the water will be superbly rendered, and so on.

The Gameplay :

In the Sims 3, everything will be more realistic. The mood of the Sims will be directly influenced by their personality and their environment. For example, a Sim who loves nature, will be more comfortable on the outside to make friends.

The promotions system will be enriched. To have a promotion, a Sim will take care of his skills, his mood but also his relationship with his boss. Indeed, to find one job, a Sim can click directly on a trade.

When talking with a Sim good in cooking, a Sim can learn recipes: there will be no cooking competence, but rather a set of recipes to discover.

The Sims’ control panel had not yet been changed, personalized, decorated in the demo which has been presented. But we have noticed that when a need fall, a small bubble appears next to the head of the Sim in the control panel with a symbol representing the desire to satisfy (a packet of crisps when he is hungry, a pillow when he need to sleep). This will be very convenient for the player.

Lots not visited by the player will continue to live their lives guided by the aspiration of the Sims and their personality. So we will see births, relocations, new relationships all arrived in our absence. Fortunately, we could read the history of these events.

Artificial intelligence has been significantly expanded. We have seen it after the demo, thanks to a developer’s team, which give us the pleasure to show us several programs. The first program "who's the witch?” allows, by entering physical criteria, to ensure that a group identifies the" witch ", the person who best fits the criteria. This will allow to make the social relations and the system of preferences richer. A second program illustrates the richness of the Sims’ paintings: each creation will be unique. Another program showing a Sims’ neighborhood in two dimensions (a map of all the lots, all Sims are moving points on the map) show us new interactions, as criticizing the decoration of a house or a family ( "Your mother is a lama"), but also how when we play a neighborhood could evolve. About the relocations due to births, the new relationship between the neighbors. Also thanks to this last simulation program, we found that an action may currently been extended over time drag the icon representing it.

A simplified customization

You want to match the curtains and furniture to the walls, no problem! With a few clicks through a small window customization whose only the Sims Team has the secret, a palette will display and you could give free your imagination, choose among the proposed textures or completely innovate.

In summary:

The Sims 3, and the first presentation which we have been offered, is a version that pushes all the limits of Sims 2 and beyond, moves the game into a new dimension, unleashing the creativity of fans, personalization, developing artificial intelligence and the free will of our Sims. The game is greatly improved; the Sims will be more beautiful, more complex and customizable.

The Sims 3 offers a new generation of game. Each player will be able to create his own universe and unique Sims, but the combination of many additions opens new horizons to the Sims. This should significantly change the way we play and create, offering a deeper game play, while remaining accessible. In addition, permanent life and realism that will animate the opened world of the Sims 3, sounds like a bit like a persistent universe, offering a greater immersion to the players.

Can’t wait for the videos, so you can have your turn to discover tomorrow Sims: The Sims 3!

The questions left unanswered

When the game is about to be released? No specific date. Not before 2009.
Which configuration? We don’t know for now. The demo was running on a laptop… but do the Studio Sims PCs come from the same planet as us?

is it just me or does nothing look realistic anymore? Sims look too smooth, and unreal - and the furniture is just the same.

The new buildings look quite good though, but still not as real as ts2

I also think its a good idea. It makes it more realistic. It will be annoying in some ways but good in other ways.

I'm not sure if i like the sim graphics. They look a bit TOO realistic to me. They look kinda....freaky..

Well, having a read of the main article I realised I'm going to need a lot of memory on my computer!
the graphics on the buildings look more like age of empires graphics! Not that thats bad of coarse. i am just so incredably happy i no longer need a taxi(not the chocolate bar)!

i am going to upgrade my computer before i get it.

oh and whats so good about fat people???

looks like this one is directed at a slightly older audience, from some vids on youtube it looks like a 16+ !!!!

I can see where you are all coming from with the aging thing. Imo (for what it's worth) it is a mixed blessing. It can lead to disaster if all your sims die before you get to play them, but I would think there's bound to be a way to prevent that. At the moment it annoys me that someones older sister can end up being much younger than them.

that is a bit odd yeah, but at least i know when a household is paused, it wont screw up. it will with this game as you play another one, i can imagine at least one of two sim families you like to play as going to pot cus you cant be there for them all the time and they are always on basically. also i would like to think that to prevent this, a sim your not playing will have immensly overhauled ai so it wont get stuck in a doorway for all the sims day when your not looking at it. cus if not, and its still a relativly stupid sim, im not gonna be to pleased

After being a loyal Sims fan for sooooo long, I was almost dreading the Sims 3. It was a combination of many factors, not least the sheer expense of starting all over again. As my daughter is also a huge fan, we've treated ourselves to every expansion pack, or 'stuff' pack to be released and I didn't want to see them all sat on the shelf with our original Sims games, collecting dust!

However, EA has tempted us once again and the Sims 3 seems to contain almost everything we've ever desired. More varied body images, more realism and of course.. more flexibility within the game. Haven't we all longed for the opportunity to stroll down the street and call in on our neighbours??

In conclusion... we will continue to make the most of our Sims 2, but I have no doubts about the fact we will be overcome with excitement when they announce the release date of the Sims 3 and unable to resist the urge to progress
