Default What do you want to see in The Sims 3?

What items, interactions or new abilities would you like to see in The Sims 3?

To start us off, here's one I posted earlier:

I've listed a few of mine below but I'm sure I'll think of more over time.

Objects I'd like to see (or see return)

Spiral stairs
Children's outdoor climbing frame
Preserves station
Gnome workbench
Basketball hoop
Cold drinks vending machines

Interactions I'd like to see

'Call to..' interaction added to objects such as televisions, similar to the 'Call to meal' interaction we have now for serving platters. This would make it so much easier to call everyone around an item (such as the TV) instead of having to click on individuals.

Miscellaneous abilities for sims I'd like to see

Sims to be able to shop via the internet for some items.
Sims to be able to own more than one residential lot in the main neighbourhood, even rent them out to other sims, thus becoming landlords.
Sims to have individual bank accounts, take out mortgages/loans to pay for items.
Sims to have relationships across different base neighbourhoods.
Residential apartment blocks.
Sims to be more intelligent about the music they dance to (i.e. they'll not dance the same to classical and rock music).
Neighbourhood utilities, i.e. you get a free power plant with each neighbourhood and it can only power so many sims homes, after that you have have more sims paying for their power in order to buy another power station that can support more sims in the neighbourhood.
Sims buy the right ingredients before being able to cook certain meals, rather than just buying groceries.

Hopefully in the next incarnation (whenever it comes) we'll have a much better system for creating our own neighbourhoods, without having to use a 3rd program like Sim City 4 to add roads and landscaping etc. It would be so much better to have a world/neighbourhood editor built into the game.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head for now, feel free to add your own ideas.

A 12 month calendar, seasons and a time function like we use on Earth HH:MM:SS though you can have the opportunity to convert back to sims 2 style time if you wish.

Right! Here are my thoughts on how you could improve the game for sims 3:
-More variety in jobs
-More item recolours, and maybe a more hands-on customisation (like choose the base of a bed, then the headboard, then choose if you'd like it 4-poster etc)
-Keep University
-More life stages (suggested elsewhere, but i agreed with it)
-Private school to be clearly beneficial to the student, not just a Want.
-Height variety for sims; it's a joke when i make myself and my boyfriend in-game and we're the same height, in reality i'm 5 foot 1, he's 6 foot 3...

More freedom in house design:
-More points of rotation without cheats
-Curved walls (with window/door placement within, and perhaps a staircase that would fit around the edge so you can make a tower),
-Diagonal walls not just a decoration but just as usable as normal walls; items can be used flat against diagonal walls (due to more rotation points for items), so you don't end up with really zig-zaggy hallway decorations and wasted space..
-Items with space around them to be butted up against another item and still be usable (like perhaps instead of an item being 1x1 square and that is final; it has its base in that square but has a shaded area where interactions take place, any item next to the 1x1 item can sidle up next to it as long as it doesn't go into the shaded zone. I doubt this makes sense tbh, but it does in my mind!).
-Segmented stairs (and spiral!), but ones that go half a storey then turn 180 degrees to finish the ascent, like you'd find in most stairsets in public places.
-Garages that are ground level which can sit adjacent to a house on foundations; and ramped driveways too, leading up to a garage on foundations.
-Customisable neighbourhoods without simcity (again, suggested elsewhere by someone else, i just agree with it).

I know most of these are achievable with boolprop but that's a lot of effort and risky.. These incorporated into the gameplay would be much nicer!

Oh and Bella Goth in a hot air balloon, just to keep the speculation alive!

I'd like to be able to import sim families from The Sims 2 into The Sims 3

It seems to be looking great already!

I'd love an Space expansion pack for the game. But hell, the orginal has to be good.

I've read some things and can't wait to see screenshots.

At least the stuff from the good TS2 expansions, like seasons, pets, holidays, businesses - without that i'm not sure if i'd get TS3, just because i hated playing ts2 without those things from the old game and having to wait for expansions.

I would hope they include seasons/weather as standard in the Sims 3 base game, along with growing your own veg again, it would seem sensible to include it from the beginning next time.

I would be happy to see an Open For Business style expansion pack for Sims 3 at some point.

I would like to see a laundry system, more building tools such as escalators and curved walls, and flexibility for rotations, so you could build a house diagonally, and furnish it, without any cheats. id also like to see a bigger range of objects and products they can buy

I would also like weather, groceries, university and things from the sims 2 to be more of a base game thing with sims 3. I would also like pets to be included in that and see a lot more interaction and gameplay come from pets aswell.
I would like buggies for kids so you could take them out with you.

The height change would also be nice as the rule stands the same when I create me and my partner, aswell as my mother in father who have the same sort of height change.
I would like a lot more customisation in the way a sim looks and acts.
For you to choose and customise everything about your neighbourhood.

i wanna say i dont think the bank or power plant would be any good...mainly because, the idea of sims is to control a family and not its neighbourhood...we already have a game for that. also the bank thing would get a bit complicated, you might forget who has what amount of money, thinking you know and without checking, get them into a bad situation, then a sim would have to lend the other sim money and the other sim pay them back...then of which you might as well have an overall money amount for the household like we do now...the loans however could work, as they come from outside the house and you pay them back later...but as for individual accounts...not so
sure

ok, taken from what i said in another topic

yeah, also instead of seeing just seeing the neigbouring lots, like if its a house next to a house and you play the one of them you could see the other sim living there leaving the house for work and to go out and tuff and see them doing stuff outside like work and play. and if your sims outside theyll give a litle wave to them or something...also vehicles driving past the lots like in sims 1 would be pretty cool

i also rekon for dancing there could be different types. its a bit odd looking at a sim listening to my black and gothic metal on the radio and dancing like some cheesey nightclub dancer...so for that the dancing of head banging and throwing themselves about could be in it. and how about music concerts, like a metal concert, dance, pop, electronic (inculding industrial, gothic and other kinds) and rap stuff and all that and the stage and place its in can be decorated with certain things for that musical genre. like if its a black metal or gothic metal it could be in a sinister looking dark cathedral type place and for the rap/hip hop i guess it could be in a setting like graffiti coverd walls and a random car in the place or something. and the sims react to the music accordingly. and sims could also show off if they wanted to, in the middle of the floor they do moves according the music thats playing and like their skills and fitness depend on how well they do.

and for the bands and artists playing, there could be a stage and you pick a stage for the concert place you want to make like a metal stage, dance stage, pop stage, electronic or something and if you wanted multiple genres to play there just have different stages placed down (such as in the cathedral or something you could place a metal stage (able to choose its style too as metal isnt all black and gothic so the areas will have to be different to suit as well) and an electronic one (again choose its style) and a band and artists will spawn in that style and play (and for a bit more variety the members could change each time you attend so your not looking at the same guys all the time) also you could put your own music in to be played by them, and no doubt modders will make existing bands and artists for it....

and, the option for you sims to be in an actual band, like form one with some sims. it could be like a sort of interactive career track in ways, although you dont always have to apply (unless you walk past a poster looking for members) but just have a set of friends all form together at your request. be in any genre you want the band to be so when they form a box comes up and asks you what you want them to play (this can change) and they play and practise in the garage or house, go play at pubs, move up to conserts, then proper gigs and maybe make it all the way and appear on tv, have videos and such, but of course the appearing on tv will be optional. the gamell keep on asking though incase you change your mind...

also there needs to be more variety of clothing for sims, they shouldnt need expansions to give you good clothing. modders will make them regardless but i dont like buying a sims game and all the clothes that come with it...look the same

and something about cars, i want them to be placed on the street facing either direction, same with on the drive way, facing the road or away from it. also sideways off the road, facing either way. and if theres a driving car coming by (i hope so, itll just be nice) itll swerve to aboid a car parked on the road, and any other obsticle, slow down and stop to let others past (if your living in the centre of town, cars will be driving by all the time almost 24/7 but in a quiet suburbia they come less often)

I really like that Idea...But it should cost money the more you have on it, obviously. Also sheet materiel and wood with different prices. ect! It would get a bit tedious though!

An option to lengthen the hair, or mix the eye colours, say if you're creating a sim self, and you have greyish blue eyes, there could be a selection like on the c.a.s we have now, but with an extra option, and when you're picking hair too, you can also mix up the hair colours, so you have someone who is strawberry blonde (like me! ^_^) Also an option to add streaks, like black hair with blonde highlights or something similar, and add custom hair into the hair section too, with more options and different styles to add colours too.
And make the aging process gradual, instead of BAM you have a toddler in your arms instead of a baby, maybe keep the same idea of birthday cakes and stuff, but make them customisable, (sp ) so eventually you have a toddler in real life.
SWEETS!! You could make your own sweets and sell them, like Hermit mentioned before, maybe included into an expansion pack.
I could add aLOT more, but I have a headache. And my fingers are getting tired,

Some great ideas mentioned above.
I think I would like to see:
- A foundation that is the same height as half a wall.
- Curved walls! (as mentioned previously)
- Skylights could be nice too...
- Some really nice doors + windows!
- Quite a lot of quite modern furniture, but also some classic/ antique furniture.

erm...that's probably about all i can think of for now, oh and quite a few of the ones mentioned above I wouldn't mind seeing either

Little things like:
Credit cards/loans
Seperate accounts for teenagers/adults living in the same house-It's very annoying for them to move out with only 20k!
Washing machines-Don't you just love annoying your sims?
More items and interactions with babies and toddlers
Being able to connect foundations and walls and turn items 45 degrees without cheats!

There's lots of other things as well but I want to be able to select what I want in the game. So that when you start a new neibourhood, or even lot, you can select what features you want. You would be able to turn the telephone off for example or select how long sims stay toddlers or adults etc.

What about expansions?? This seems a bit forward considering sims 3 hasn't even been released but what would people like to see as expansion packs or improvments to the sims (2) ones?

Something else I forgot to mention, hopefully cars should be available as standard in the base game, not added with an expansion.

Being able to choose shoes
Choose the lengths of hair.
Be able to put highlights and layers in hair.
Different heights.
More body types.

I want seasons to be in the base game. I would also like University to be in the base game.

Yeah about driveways- more freedom with them, so for example you can have a sweeping semicircular driveway like infront of fancier houses lol. Half-wall height foundations is a great idea too, how about easier to make basements, like you build stairs down into the ground from the ground floor, then 'carve' out the basement from the ground, rather than having to fiddle about with double walls etc etc.

I'd like to be able to choose a few everyday outfits in Create A Sim, and you'd have to wash an outfit after wearing it for so long.

I think that you could put all the expansions and stuff packs from Sims 2 and put them all into one in Sims 3!

I've always wanted an inbetween age for adult sims, they should have a younger adult, middle-aged and then elder. Perhaps sims can gradually go grey, get wrinkles etc rather than all at once

I was about to post that when I saw your post!
I think it's so unrealistic that sims go from looking really young to having white hair and being really old in a few seconds
