Default Launcher Reading Version 0.0.0.0 and Base Game Incompatibility

It has come to our attention that some of our fellow Simmers are encountering issues after the latest update. First off we want to apologise in advance for the inconvenience and want to do everything possible to get you back in the game!

For those with these issues it is highly recommended to follow these steps.

· Uninstall EA Download Manager

· Reboot your machine

· Obtain the latest available version here http://eastore.ea.com/eadm

· Open EA Download Manager to ensure that the Download Manager is fully up to date

· Open The Sims 3 Launcher

At this point the Launcher should prompt you that there is another available update and all products will be properly in sync.

If you followed the above directions to no avail, please post below with as much information as possible. This information will help us to troubleshoot the issues that Simmers are experiencing as efficiently as possible.

Please include:

Packs installed

o Base Game

o World Adventures

o Design and High-Tech Stuff

o Ambitions

Version of each product which can be found by opening the skuversion.txt file

o These are located in the corresponding folder for Base Game and/or Expansion Packs and Stuff Packs

§ Example: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\skuversion.txt

§ Example: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Ambitions\Game\Bin\skuversion.txt

o The important information to include in your post is the first line of the Text document that reads: Gameversion = 1.12.70.006001

o DXDiag

Is it OK that I have the 0.0.0.0 error but I can still run the game normally?

Had this problem myself after downloading the recent patches last night, uninstalling the EADM and installing the version posted above changed nothing. I solved it by uninstalling High End Stuff and World Adventures, updating the base game, then reinstalling World Adventures and allowing the launcher to update it, reinstalling High End stuff and allowing the launcher to update again. Works okay now, just hope there are no more problems when I install Ambitions.

... that's quite a lot of effort to fix one patch.

I dream of the day when we'll have a patch that doesn't break the game.

I've about had it with this now. Every patch has caused some kind of problem. You can see the fans are getting sick of it just looking at the posts. The Sims is getting a repuation for being one of EA's most rushed, cheap and badly supported games.

Like I honestly know how to do all of that. That just seems like a bit too much work for one stupid little update that clearly did not have enough work done on it before it was released. This is stupid and I'm starting to get pretty angry. EA should be fixing the problem, not making it complicated for the people that buy their products. I'm not smart with computers, so this isn't going to work for me and this is certainly not fair or fun.

After trying to install the patch, and after re-installing the Download Manager, I couldn't even open up the Game Launcher. In fact, the game has completely disappeared from my Start Menu - all that remains in my Electronic Arts folder is the EADM.. I'm removing the games from my computer a different way, but it's ridiculous that this has happened. Even without my peculiar problem, it's still ridiculous that yet another game update has caused problems..

My sister couldn't even reinstall the SIMS3 as the installation proces kept getting stuck at some Fullbuildpackage file. Technical support recommended to fully copy the SIMS3 files to a folder on the desktop. But that didn't even work.

Now I have transferred my FullBuildPackage files to her pc and that fixed it. But as you may understand my sister is not too jumpy ever installing a Sims3 update again.

A patch making it impossible to run the game..that's not a patch..that's a VIRUS!!

I done this:

Remove World Adventures, Reinstall EA Download Manager, Patch game, install World Adventures - all works

No reboot required.

That really annoyed me, say if you haven't been on the game for about 4 months say, and there are about 5 patches in a row, I wish they would all install at once!!!!! But how many times have EA had this problem with the games, it's either rushed or they have just not edited it properly, you never kbow what kinda bugs get acidently put in game

It didn't work what Nicky posted up there,I followed the instructions carefully and it did the same damn thing!! I have all the games released so far!!!

Wow I haven't updated yet because I just started playing last week.
Now I'm thinking of not updating because of the risky difficult problems.

1.14.11.007002. Is that the playing up patch? Coz, if it is, I have fixed it!!!
i might be a genius. If it is, and if the first scenario wasn't working, re-install all expansions and stuffs. U might have a notice come up, after 2 tries, it should work. Only if the version above is the dodgy patch. So I am not updating until I know

I just reinstalled Windows, went through and reinstalled all my Sims 3 games, installed a fresh copy of EADM, and now I'm getting this error. I didn't attempt to open the game or launcher at all between installing all the packs.

So I figured I'd try again. After reading maxgotnotail's post, I uninstalled Ambitions (left the other packs installed), and opened the launcher. I got the error, but game version wasn't 0.0.0.0 and then it went to the updates area and it let me download some patches. Progress!

After it installed those patches, the Design And High Tech Stuff launcher no longer had the error. I reinstalled Ambitions and when I opened the launcher I immediately got the popup asking me if I wanted to update. It's just installed the update, and the launcher now works. Not only that but I'm playing my game again now! Perfect

Also happens after I install any expansion pack, just the update from the exp kills the sims. Was working great on my laptop untill it broke. Dont know if it's my computer but I highly doubt it.

Games installed:
The Sims 3 CE - version 1.0.631.00002 (unpatched)

Games I have but refuse to install utill there is a fixed patch:
World Adventures - base version
High End Loft Stuff - base version

Well I suffered this issue on the last update but I haven't tried to play again until now. It really puts me off wanting to play when you patch the game and it breaks.

Anyway

Packs Installed:
Base (Of course ) - GameVersion = 1.12.70.006017
The Sims™ 3 World Adventures - GameVersion = 2.0.86.002017
The Sims™ 3 High-End Loft Stuff - GameVersion = 3.3.11.006017
The Sims™ 3 Ambitions - GameVersion = 4.0.87.006017

Any help? Tried the EADM thing but it didn't do anything.

Did you try uninstalling Ambitions (through Programs and Features on the Windows Control Panel), launching the launcher for HELS, and seeing if that would update? That worked for me, then when I reinstalled Ambitions it correctly updated everything else.

Make a backup of your save data before you uninstall, in case you make a mistake. You'll find it in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

If it doesn't work, I guess uninstall the packs in reverse order, and try the launcher again each time to see if it will let you update. Then if it does, do the update, reinstall the next pack, launch, update, etlalalalail you're all installed again.

Still get the same error I got before.

Forgot to mention the error message is: "There was an error during startup. Please see the Log for more details".

Does the log even exist?

Decided to just uninstall them all and do a full re-install.

Ah then that's not the same error that this thread is about Sorry - I thought you had a different error completely!

Hope the full uninstall and re-install works for you!

Ah, Well I assumed it was something to do with this because I have the 0000 version thing.

The uninstall/reinstall didn't work first time around so I am trying it yet again..

It only happened after I installed the last patch though.

I had this problem so followed the steps in this thread and completely reinstalled and downloaded a new EADM etc... That didn't work so had to completely reinstall agaaain,
Most annoying thing ever.
But i eventually got it to work but now whenever i open the Game Launcher, this message comes up;

EA Download Manager tried to launch an external application but the path was invalid. Please try again, or reinstall EADM.

i Have not tried to reinstall yet but will that actually sort the problem or is there something else i could try? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I open the launcher and it keeps saying my game is up to date. It isn't!! And I've just downloaded Fast Lane and it says I have to update my game before I can install!
