We're offering UK Sims fans the chance to play the upcoming expansion pack for The Sims 3 on May 10th, nearly a month before the game releases!

No purchase of any goods or services is necessary to be eligible for entry into this competition. To enter go to The Sims™ 3 forums at The Sims 3 - Electronic Arts UK Community and send a Personal Message to EAUK_Competitions telling us in no more than 50 words what careers you are planning for your Sims in The Sims™ 3 Ambitions.

Entries will be judged against originality, artistic direction & creativity. Entrants must also provide the following information: Name, Age, Contact email address. This information will only be used for this promotion, will not be used for any other purpose and will be deleted after use.

The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into

We have 10 places available and we'll invite the winners down to HMV Gamerbase in Picadilly, London where they will be given access to the new game!

Please note - no travel, food or drink expenses will be covered so do consider this before you enter and make sure that you read the terms and conditions before entering.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

THE SIMS™ 3 AMBITIONS – COMMUNITY EVENTS MAY 2010

1. General
The opening time and date of the competition is Monday 26th April 2010 at 00:01 GMT, and the closing date and time for receipt of entries is Sunday 2nd May at 23:59 GMT. Entries submitted after this time will not be considered.


2. Restrictions
This prize draw is open to UK residents aged Thirteen (13) and over only. Entrants under 16 years will need parental consent plus be accompanied by parent/guardian on the day.
Employees (and members of their immediate family) of “Electronic Arts” (“EA”) (“Promoter”), their agents and anyone connected to this competition are not eligible to enter.

4. Prize(s)
Ten (10) winners will be invited to attend an invite-only preview event on Monday 10th May 2010 at HMV Gamerbase, Picadilly, London. The event will run from 12 noon to 4pm in which time invitees will be given a hands-on preview of The Sims™ 3 Ambitions. Timings may be subject to change.

The winners may each bring one (1) parent/guardian/friend with them to HMV Gamerbase but only the winner will be allocated time with the game. Winners under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

No travel, food or other expenses will be paid so please consider this before you enter.

All winners and their one (1) accompanying parent/guardian/friend will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and an Assignment of Rights. Entrants under 16 years will also need to sign a parental consent form.

There are no alternatives to these prizes. They are as stated and are non-transferable. If due to circumstances beyond the control of EA, EA is unable to provide the stated prizes, EA reserves the right to award substitute prizes of equal value. All prizes are subject to the terms and conditions of the supplier.


5. Results
The winners will be contacted via email by midnight Tuesday 4th May. If the winners of the prize cannot be traced after reasonable efforts have been made by EA, EA will be entitled to select alternative winner from among the entrants.

A full list of who won will be available for four (4) weeks following the day of the selection of winners. This list can be obtained by writing to The Sims 3 Ambitions, Preview Event Competition, CRM Department, Electronic Arts, Onslow House, Onslow Street, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 4TN

If proof of age is requested, and if satisfactory proof of age is not received, the Promoter reserves the rights to choose another winner.


6. General Conditions
Any entry, which does not comply with the rules, may be deemed invalid at the sole discretion of EA. EA is not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions, misdirected entries, lost or unavailable network connections, failed, incorrect, garbled, delayed electronic or other communications or other technical problems related to mobile entries. Proof of sending will not be deemed to be proof of delivery.

Entrants agree that they may be required to take part in publicity without further consent or payment. Such publicity may include their names and/or likeness.

7. Data protection
In order to participate in the competition participants must provide certain information on themselves. This personal information is collected and processed only for the purposes of organising, running and monitoring the campaign, as well as for carrying out publicity activities on it. The organising entity shall be considered the data controller for the database containing this personal information.

By entering this competition, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and by any other requirements set out in the promotional material, which may be amended or varied at any time by the Promoter.

The Promoter of this prize draw is EA Swiss Sàrl, Place du Molard 8, Geneva 1204,Switzerland. This prize draw is governed by and is in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

I'm thoroughly against this - would it be so much as hard to do it in the MIDDLE of the country and on a weekend. I'm EXTREMELY upset about this and have much annoyance to the fact that EA don't understand their customers.

Also, in terms of actual population density, London's pretty central Though having it on weekdays when the majority of their customers isn't the most sensible of ideas, but I'm thinking it's not something they have a huuuuge amount of control over.

I don't know whether similar events are held for fans in the US I'm afraid. I would imagine that if they are then they would be posted on thesims3.com or through any mailings that you might receive from EA.

I can hardly wait till the 10th even thou I want get to go. We'll probebly learn more info that one day then we've seen in a while. I hope new pictures are released. By then the game will have probebly gone gold.
