Default A new way to play the Sims 2

UPDATED 8th November:

Hello everyone,

This thread now documents the WishLinia Alpha Family Race. Please see my other thread for discussion of the AFR concept in general. The WishLinia AFR is the original example of my unique way of playing the Sims 2.

Five turn cycles have been played so far at the time of writing, and quite a lot of progress has been made. The most recent version of the journal can be found right here

Have fun reading, and please comment

sounds fun especially for people who are getting bored of TS2! But also on the other hand it looks to be really difficult and for people who like playing one family through a life time might not like this as it seems like you need to be able to play all families seperatly for the same amount of time?

Hope this helps!

Hey

Thanks for your input. I know lots of people like to focus on one family - I do. problem is I do it too much. I'm trying to multi task, so that I don't get too bored playing one family all the time. I thoughts this'd be good for anybody who felt the same way.

As for difficulty...it's certainly not easy, but it's easier than keeping track of a legacy....all those points and things.

Have you picked a favourite family?

Cheers

I do have a favorite family on my 2nd generation (im not doing legacy but i want to get paslalala for the first time)

I agree with it being easier than legacy though D

I love the idea! I'd just like to make a tiny, tiny suggestion - make it so that the time limit is simmish - 1 Sim Week. I think that is much better (people might have interruptions if they play 45Mins proper) that way.

That's a great suggestion! If I do any more before Christmas (Sims 3 time), then I certainly will do sim weeks.

I mean it's really up to the player how they want the turns to pan out.

And now I'm just about to start the Caira's third turn.

Who do you want to win?
Arden, Boomer, Caira, Diras or Endevur?

And also
Now that Sims 2 has been succeeded, are there many regulars on the Sims 2 forum here any more?

And EAUK_Aurora - what influence does she have here? I used to run forums, so I know about the principles, but is she moderator, administrator or just somebody picked to represent this wishes of the community?

Thanks,
WishLine

All of the above really. My responsibility is partly to the community through keeping the forum a happy and active place to be, aiming to answer questions where possible or help the members where I can, and also to feedback thoughts, ideas, bugs etc, from the community to the tech, marketing and dev teams. I also am involved in some activity for EA with social networking sites and I am a SimGuru on thesims3.com plus I help to arrange competitions and events on occasions for fans of the series.

This looks great. Might try it.

So just wondering. Do we create our own neighbourhood and families?

Wow.,. This has got quite a bit of interest. let's see...

Aurora - Wow, you lead a busy forum-life. That must be quite a good job to have.

Lizcon - Thanks. I like the Endevurs too...grudgingly (they're a bit too cold for my liking). I hope the Cairas win, but the Boomers are quite fun to play. The Ardens are very middle-of-the-road. Oh and their baby Owen is really grouchy. He puts the Endevurs to shame with only one Nice/Grouchy point,

latinasteph1 I'm very interested to see what people think about the whole idea too. And if I find out how people do when they have a go, that's even better .

Jessie and lizcon Glad you could be giving this a go. The neighbourhood is Three Lakes, but the families are your choice (I did ABCDE to help remember the order). I'd make 2-3 community lots, and a graveyard. Make 4 or 5 'stages' for your families to climb, laid out in blank plots in clumps with the same Road/Street name. Have them snaking up the hill, and do it so that each clump has tiny/small, just small, medium, large and huge lots. Use the biggest lot available for your equivalent of 'Alpha-House Accommodation'. Set the monetary 'score' needed to progress to each level (IE 'To move house to the second level, the sims must have 55,000 simoleons). Build your families' houses before they move in to save money. Remember that Mr Humble gives you the computer if you have FreeTime. Start your families off as 20,000 married couples.

Got that? (I see what lucybabe means, it IS complicated when it's put like that )

I have plenty of ideas, yes xD. Whether they'd work or anybody else likes them depends. I seem to have struck onto a winner here

Which of my five families do you like from the WishLinia AFR then, Lucy? Arden, Boomer, Caira, Diras or Endevur.

Wow, Recludere. That's a good game you have going on. The week frame is probably a good idea. I'm probably going to make it three day loops on my next AFR. It's interesting how your family is shaping up. I have to say...you did seriously well to make a house on 20,000 which looks that good. I'm very impressed. has anybody else started one yet?
