Hey, really need some help! - crashing

I've had the sims 2 double deluxe for 2 days. and already it's constantly crashing. i have taken all the advice about closing background tasks and everything and it hasn't helped. When i click to open a town the screen is black with the cursor visible (and moving) please help!!

Does your computer meet the minimum requirements for the game?

Try Can You Run It? to see if there's any part of the game your computer cannot support.
