Career Rewards - A Brief Guide This guide contains a brief overview of the Career rewards in The Sims 2 and it's expansions, and how to use them. It is not intended to be exhaustive and additional information may be found by searching or asking in the forum. General Information Each career track grants your sim a special reward object once they reach a certain level within that career. Some of these rewards (those that ship with the basic The Sims 2 game)offer your sims the ability to build their skills at much faster rates than the normal build mode objects do. Other career rewards may offer your sims extra functions such as raising the dead or printing their own money for example. Some career rewards also offer an additional benefit. They can be used to teach sims less skilled in that objects skill area. Sims being taught with the reward object will learn that skill at a very high rate. If they have a personality trait which leads then to quick learning in a particular skill, then the rate of skill building is increased still further. Not all the reward objects may offer the ability to learn or teach skills as some just offer extra functionality. Of those that do offer skill building, they usually have several interactions in common:
Note On The Thinking Cap The thinking cap is an aspiration reward object that accelerates general skill building (for more details see The Thinking Cap). The thinking cap can be combined with your career reward objects when skill building to further increase the rate of learning. You can increase it even further if both parties in a teach interaction are wearing the cap. Since all the various rate increases are accumulative, you can end up with sims with personalities which accelerate the learning of a particular skill, wearing a thinking cap whilst being taught on a career reward object by someone with full skill points in that skill area who is also wearing a thinking cap; learning at an incredibly dizzying speed. Description It uses ultraviolet radiation to quickly and easily dust for prints everywhere, then displays the iron clad evidence on the viewscreen.
With the scan for prints interaction, your sim chooses a random object on any floor of your lot and begins to scan. If the scan is successful, your sim should display a picture of the last sim to use that object; this will depend though on your sim's current skill level. If no sim has used the selected object, a random neighbour will be identified instead. The scanner fills your sims fun at level four and can fill it up to a max of 70 fun points. |

Description Do your sims love gardening as a creative outlet yet hate kneeling in the soil and getting dirt under their fingernails? well, they don't have to anymore with this hydroponic garden. The AquaGreen ensures that plants receive adequate moisture and lots of light, so your sims get the fruit without the labour. It's a slackers dream.
Initially the only interaction available will be the Plant interaction. This fills the pots with seeds, after which there will be no interactions available for several hours until the plants have sprouted. Once sprouted the Tend interaction becomes available. The plants must be tended regularly for them to reach their full potential and grow into the next stage. If you have successfully tended your plants, they will grow into leafy plants that can be harvested when the interaction becomes available. How long this takes depends on the tending sim's current skill level. Your harvested plants can be used straight away as normal houseplants and can be moved in the buy and build mode the same way as other houseplants. If you prefer, you can sell them in the buy mode in the same way as other plants. Once your plants are harvested, the pots are then available for replanting. The tend interaction fills your sims fun at level four and can fill it up to a max of 70 fun points. Some sims (may depend on their outgoing or neat score) can also have an additional interaction available if they are close to bladder failure. Clicking on the garden when they are near failure will bring up the 'use' interaction which should allow them to relieve themselves in the plants. |

Description After a long day at the military base, why not extend the hard work with a run through the Selfflog obstacle course? From Exerto, a leading manufacturer of fitness equipment, this home obstacle course tests your ability to leap 3-foot hurdles, crawl under a canopy of simulated gunfire and scramble over a fence; all in the name of fun and fitness.
Two sims can run at the same time with this reward object. As well as building the body skill, this object will increase your sim's fitness at the same time. How good they are at running the course depends on their current skill level. The obstacle course fills your sims fun at level four and can fill it up to a max of 70 fun points |

Description Don't let the inconvenience of truth interfere with your career ambitions! Hone the skills to lie, cheat and steal with the SensoTwitch Lie Finder. Its patented Brainwave Twitch Needle detects even the tiniest mental nervous tic. Fool the Lie Finder and you can fool anyone!
There's not much to add with this object. Your sims will occasionally receive an electric shock when he/she is caught lying, but this is completely harmless. How often this occurs depends on your sim's current skill level. Interestingly, to date this is the only career reward that I have personally seen break down and need repairing, which was fixed in the same way as other objects are. |

Description Float like a moth and sting like a yellowjacket! With the Exerto Punching Bag, athletic sims can punch away to relieve tension and keep in shape while building a career skill.
Initially your sim is limited to just punching the bag. However, once they reach body skill level 5, they will begin to kick the bag as well. An additional feature of the punching bag is that increases your sims fitness at the same time as skill building. The punching bag fills your sims fun at level six and can fill it up to a max of 80 fun points if they are punching, and 70 fun points if they are teaching a sim. |

Description Why should your sims sit through boring business lunches when they can play golf instead? The Execuputter features imported synthetic imitation grass, along with simulated water and sand traps so that sims can work on their swing while building charisma points, and hobnobbing with important business contacts.
There is little extra to say for this career reward other than the Execuputter fills your sims fun at level four and can fill it up to a max of 70 fun points |

Description Sims venturing into the medical field can sharpen up their mechanical skills with the 'incision precision'. The true to life features include genuinely clammy fake organs and a functioning circulatory system. Dive into the faux gall bladder, small intestine, pancreas, inferior epigastric vessels and other organs, making them new again.
This is one of the skill objects that children cannot use alone; they must have an adult use the teach interaction with them. Based on your sim's current mechanical skill, your sim may pull out something he/she shouldn't have done, setting off an alarm. Your sim will try to resuscitate the dummy with mixed results. It's irrelevant anyway if they save the dummy or not as they will continue regardless. The trauma station fills your sims fun at level four and can fill it up to a max of 70 fun points |

Description Stand tall, furrow your brow, and just say the words with the Bushmaster Tele-Prompter. Transparent overlays display text at varying speeds form 'tortoise' slow to 'hare' fast. Adjust the font size to ease those aching eyes. Exercise your verbal skills with the Bushmaster Tele-Prompter.
This reward object has some interesting additional interactions. Firstly, your children have the opportunity to use the play interaction (something they will do autonomously too) to fulfill their fun need. It does have the added downside of irritating any nearby sims within range as they hear your children burping into the microphone. Secondly, your sims also have a listen interaction (which they can do autonomously too) to fulfill their fun need. Wether or not they approve of your sim's speech depends on the current speakers charisma skill level. The different fun interactions yield the following results: Play - fun level five up to 75 fun points; Practice - fun level three up to 60 fun points; Listen - fun level 5 up to a maximum of 90 fun points. |

Description Fatten your sim's bank account ( and their friends and families too) with this finely engineered machine. Designed by world renowned chocolatiers at Bavarian Meltonwerks, the Schokolade 890 produces high quality chocolates that sims can pop into their mouths or pop into a box and sell in the $7 Billion a year chocolate industry!
Initially when your sim's cooking skill is low, it is unlikely they will be able to use the Schokolade machine correctly, leaving instead puddles of chocolate on the floor. As their skills improve, they will be able to start to sell the candies created, eventually bringing in as much as $4 a box. The spilt chocolate needn't go to waste though. If you have a toddler around they can autonomously steal that spilt candy, giving them a hunger and energy boost whilst making them hyperactive for a time too. The Schokolade machine fills your sims fun at level one and can fill it up to a max of 70 fun points |

Description Your sims are sure to succeed in the world of science with the Simsanto Inc. Biotech Station! Sims can study old microbes and invent new ones, gaining logic skill points and advancing their careers in the process. Includes a microscope, a computer and a refrigerator for storing samples.
This is one of the objects that children cannot use on their own. They must be accompanied by an adult in the teach interaction. Adults using the biotech Station should ensure that they have a few logic skill points first and they are in a good mood. If a sim's current logic skill is low or they have low hygiene, low mood or are of a grouchy personality, it's likely that the medicine will fail and be unusable. In a worst case scenario they could even produce a dangerous virus and mishandle it, making themselves ill in the process. Successful vials of medicine are coloured blue. The higher the logic skill and the mood of the sim, the darker the blue will be and the higher the sale price will be for the medicine. Unsuccessful vials containing a virus will be colored green. Unsuccessful medicines or virii should be disposed of. If any member of the household becomes ill, you have the option to give them medicine instead of selling it. This becomes more important for children as they are unable to get the medicine for themselves. Older members of the household will have the get interaction if a successful vial of medicine has been left in the machine. You may have to take more than one vial of medicine to cure any illness. It will depend on the strength of the medicine. It therefore pays to make sure the sim with the highest logic skill and best mood, is responsible for the making of medicines. If no one in your household is ill, then the get or give medicine interactions will not be available. The Biotech Station fills your sims fun at level four and can fill it up to a max of 70 fun points |

Description No need to mourn the passing of your loved ones. Not only is this telephone a stylish accessory to any stylish realm, but it also provides a direct line to the Grim Reaper. For nary the price of your soul, Mr Reaper will gladly bring anyone back from the beyond. But beware: if you don't offer a competitive bid for this service, your resurrected loved one may be...incomplete.
The paranormal career is only available to university graduates, so your sim would need to go to college to achieve the Resurrect-O-Nomitron. Once you call the grim reaper, you will be presented with a window showing all the dead sims your sim knows, and whose urn or headstone still exists in the neighbourhood. If you are calling from a college town, you will only be presented with dead sims whose urn or headstone exists in that college town. The same is true if you call in the normal base neighbourhood. If your household already has 8 members, then you will not get the interaction to raise the dead as your household cannot normally hold more than eight members. How your dead sims are returned depends entirely on how much you (or your sims) are prepared to pay the reaper. Payment To The Grim Reaper

Description Does your sim have a face only a mother could love? If so, it's time to take advantage of today's technological breakthroughs in medicine. Forget forking out thousand's of simoleons for unreliable plastic surgery, as performed by an error-prone 'real' doctor. Trust Dr Vu's latest insidious creation to make precise facial modifications as only a computer can. A few minutes of your time can result in a new, beautiful face that will last a lifetime!
The show business career is only available to university graduates, so your sim would need to go to college to achieve Dr Vu's Automated Cosmetic Surgeon. Your sims can change their facial structure with this career reward. If successful, you will be taken to the facial creation controls usually found in the create a sim mode. There is also a 20% chance that you will be unsuccessful and if this is the case, you will not be presented with the facial controls, instead your sim will be horribly disfigured. Once you (and your sim) get over the shock, you can always repeat the procedure to try again. These changes are only skin deep insomuch as they don't affect genetics. Your sims will still pass on the genes they were born with. |

Description This bizarre bovine vegetation is large enough to swallow your next door neighbour whole. In fact, it WILL eat your neighbours. Your friends will be hard pressed to resist the tantalizing vine cake of the carnivorous Laganaphyllis Simnovorii. After it has consumed some prey, milk it for sweet, rejuvenating nectar of life. A swig of this liquid refreshment will add precious days to a sim's life and wash away any regret they may have had over their neighbour's fate.
The Natural Scientist career is only available to university graduates, so your sim would need to go to college to achieve the Laganaphyllis Simnovorii. The 'Cow Plant' needs feeding every 12 hours and can be fed by any sim from child upwards, costing $35 per feed. Feed it regularly and it will be a harmless piece of decoration. If you fail to feed it every 12 hours however, it can become a very dangerous animal..erm plant (or very useful if you choose to see it that way). When hungry, the Simnovorii extends a very tantalizing piece of cake to lure unsuspecting guests into range of it's maw. Your household sims will remain unaffected by the lure of the cake tongue although you still have the option to direct them to the grab the cake if you wish to. Once your guest is within range and tries to take the cake, he/she will be swallowed whole by the plant, after which it regurgitates a headstone to remind you. After your plant has fed on a sim, the udders under it's chin will become enlarged as they become filled with the essence of sim; essentially the elixir of life. Your sims can milk this elixir to receive five days extra to their lifespan. If you don't milk the plant the udders remain filled with the elixir and will not need feeding until it has been milked. Also note that as this is a career reward, it is not affected by the gold aspiration requirements that the Elixir of Life aspiration reward is. Keeping the udders full is a good way of keeping it dormant without feeding, as well as having a supply of elixir on hand ready to be milked by a child or older. You can also keep it surrounded by a fence or wall in order to prevent your guests getting to the lure should it be extended. |

Description What a find! This upright vintage camera hails from the days of yore, when cameras didn't fit into your pocket. Gather your sim's family and friends to pose for a picture together, or just take snapshots of your sim's favourite scenes from around the house. Sell photos for simoleons or click on them in buy mode to conveniently hang on any wall, or place on a table or counter.
The Artist career is only available to university graduates, so your sim would need to go to college to achieve the Luminous Pro Antique Camera. When selecting the shoot picture interaction, you will be given the choice to shoot a landscape or a portrait picture. You will also be given the chance to choose from various photographic effects (Normal, Lighting Bloom, Film Grain, Letterbox or Vignette). Once you have made your choice you will get the same picture framing box that you get with the painting easel. Just frame your shot and press the C button. The location of the camera takes no effect on what you actually photograph and you may find it easier if you go into the camera mode by pressing the TAB key. Using the pose interaction you can place your sims in a various array of different poses, whether normal or zany. The sim will stay in that pose for as long as their needs allow. If their needs decay too much they will come out of the interaction themselves. While your sims are posed, if you select another unposed sim and click on the posed sim, you will have the option to have your selected sim go and stand next to the posed sim. You can then continue and pose this sim as well. Posed sims will turn their heads to look towards the camera (they look at you the player, not the camera object) as you move your camera view around with the normal play mode controls. Once you have taken your photograph with your new camera, you can unpose your sims if you posed them and go to the next step; which is getting your new photo. To do this you will need to go into buy mode. At this point it can sometimes be a bit tricky as you will need to grab the image off the side of the camera. The best way to do that is to zoom in close on the camera object whilst in the buy mode. If you look carefully at your camera you will see a small flattened dark object sticking out of the side. This is your recently taken photo. Using the buy mode hand tool, carefully take off the photo from the side of the camera. Now that you have your photo in your buy mode hand, what do you do with it. Basically you have three options. Firstly you can sell it if you wish in the same way you would sell other objects. If you would prefer to keep it, you can place it up against any blank portion of wall in a similar fashion to other buy mode paintings and photographs, watching as the photograph receives a new frame just before you hang it. Alternatively, if you hold the photo near an empty table or countertop, you will see that it receives a new tabletop frame and you can now rest the photo on the surface. Remember that your photographs don't appreciate in value in the same fashion as your paintings do, but if you want to have your sims spend time taking lots of photos, you can make enough cash from selling them to be comparable to a low level job in a normal career. |

Description The Golden Skull of Jumbok IV was liberated from the ancient ruins discovered just outside of Riverblossom Hills. Jumbok IV, conqueror of the ancient regions Pleasantview and Veronaville, was known as a cruel, loud, and smelly ruler. Nevertheless, his skull, which has been coated in gold and enlarged to enhance it's aesthetic beauty, is fitting for any home and inspiring to all. It can definitely be said that standing next to Jumbok's golden skull is better for you than standing next to the conquering Jumbok of old!
This reward's primary ability is to slowly increase the needs over time. Sims who are in the vicinity of the Jumbok Skull will see their needs slowly replenished; they also stack on top of anything your sim may be doing that normally fills a need. For example, if your sim is receiving fun and comfort from sitting and watching the tv while the Jumbok Skull is nearby, the comfort and fun would be increased faster than normal because of the effect of the Jumbok Skull. Viewing the Golden Skull can fill your sims' fun to a maximum of 95 fun points. |

Description Boom! The flames lick skyward as the metallic ball races for points and ultimately, the high score! Ding! Ping! Clang! Be careful, as you may anger the Tiki spirits. They demand the ultimate high score. That volcano will ooze the lava of your demise. Hiss! Sizzle! Crackle! Enjoy, have fun, and earn some Simoleons!
This is very much the same as any of the other pinball machines in The Sims 2 - with one exception, every few seconds your sims earns §5 while playing the game. If two sims are playing, the sim with the highest body and/or mechanical skill wins the game. The fun fills at level 10 if playing and level 3 for sims who may be watching. |

Description The ruthless and justice-filled oak from which this podium was built, has served three generations of brilliant lawyers. Passed down over the years, this podium is regarded by many as both sacred and lawful - a powerful combination. Few lawyers who've had the privilege to speak from the podium find themselves on the losing side of a jury's decision. As far as charisma building goes, nobody can object to the "I object" Litigator Podium.
This reward object has some interesting additional interactions. Your sims will earn §5 every few seconds while they are using it. Description The Gootentaugen award is reserved for those who demonstrate an excellent gift with the written word, or those who show great potential for greatness. The finest writers, as they lay dying on their deathbeds, can point to a shelf full of Gootentaugens, and say "I have written great things". Then their pen drops, and only the Gootentaugens remain. Stand in the presence of this fantastic award and watch your mood improve!
This reward's primary ability is to slowly increase the needs over time. Description The guitar that defined the music of a generation is now yours to thrash, own, and rip up on stage. Every musician dreams to touch, nigh, smell the catgut strings of this blessed weapon of rock. You are lucky to be chosen for The Rock Hammer - do not defy the rock, lest you find yourself jamming to country.
Practising sims play by themselves and learn the creativity skill at a faster rate, their skill level determines the quality of the tune played. If you have the University expansion installed, your sim can use the Perform interaction to perform for funds, on their own or in unison with other sims playing on other instruments in the same room. Practising or Performing sims can max their fun at level 10. Watching sims can click on the instrument while it is being played and dance gaining fun at level 8 and to a maximum of 75 fun points. Two sims can dance together and gain social, as well as fun at level 8 and up to a maximum of 85 fun points. Watching sims can gain fun at level 4. |

Description Books First, the revolutionary new education system sweeping the community is now ready to enter the homes of working educators with A Bookshelf of Education. Knowledge can be obtained for any discipline via the Golden Book of Cornelius Von Schtoop. Taking the first step to a life of learning is like the first step in a candy store - delicious.
In most respects this bookcase looks and acts just like any other bookcase in your sims' household. The difference with this reward is that your sims can use the bookcase to study all seven skills, and at a faster rate than a normal bookcase. Sims reading, reading to or being read to will gain fun at level 1 and to a maximum of 75 fun points. Sims writing in diary gain social, fun at level 2 and comfort at level 2. |
