Default How do I register my game/I've lost my serial code?

How do I register my game?

The ideal way to register your game is by using the electronic registration wizard that is installed with the game, this is because it will automatically send your serial code for you. The wizard is usually shown during the installation procedure and is the best time to use it, however you can also run it after the game is installed. To find it :
  • Click on the Start menu (the windows symbol for Vista users)
  • Select All Programs
  • Select EA GAMES
  • Select the title you want to register
  • Select Electronic Registration
  • Follow the on screen prompts
If you have problems using the Electronic registration wizard or if you prefer a manual method, you can also register your game(s) by visiting the EA Online Registration website, just select your platform and title, then click the NEXT button to sign in and follow the on screen prompts.

Please note that I've found that it can take several days for the Sims icons to appear on your My Sim page on the exchange, if you have trouble downloading after registering, please check again in a day or two and it may have resolved itself.

If you have any problems registering your game title, either using the Electronic Registration wizard or manually on the registration site, please contact the Electronic Arts Customer Support Team for further assistance, just click the CONTACT US tab.

I'd recommend you keep your manual and code in a safe place, should you need to reinstall the game at any time.

Note: Bon Voyage doesn't include the Electronic Registration wizard, instead it takes you to the EA Online Registration website.

I've lost or can't find my serial code!

If you are installing the game for the first time and cannot find the code, you should be able to find it on the back of the manual at the bottom, the manual should be inside the CD/DVD case, usually on the left hand side. If you purchased the game new from a local shop or online retailer and it didn't come with a manual, I would recommend that you contact them in the first instance to get a replacement.

If at any time you need to reinstall your game, maybe you are having a problem with it or perhaps you are moving computers, and can't find the manual or your code; there are several things you can try.

If you still have your game(s) installed on your computer then you can check in your computer's registry:
  • Click on Start and then click on Run.
  • In the text line type regedit, then click OK.
  • Click on the + next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • Click on the + next to SOFTWARE
  • Click on the + next to Electronic Arts
  • Click on the + next to EA Games
  • Click on the + next to Sims 2 or expansion(s) you want the code for
  • Click on ergc
In the right hand pane you will see your serial code for that game/pack.

Note: Be careful when looking through the registry that you don't alter or delete anything.

If you no longer have the game installed and you have registered it, you will be able to find it again in your EA account. Goto Your Account Page Here and log in. Enter your password again when asked to access your account. Goto the My Games tab to see a list of your registered games and the serial codes.

If none of these suggestions have solved your situation, you will need to contact the Electronic Arts Customer Support Team for further assistance, just click the CONTACT US tab.

Please Note: We cannot give out serial codes on this forum so please don't ask for one.

Firstly, as mentioned in the first post, if you register your games you can retrieve the codes again should you lose them and want to reinstall the game. Secondly, if you want to download from the exchange you'll need to register the base game or one expansion at least to get full access.

Well when I try to register it asks me for an access code, but I can't find one anywhere. This isn't the same as a serial number as I tried entering that but it wouldn't accept it.

Hmm, I have only heard of needing the long serial key to install before Has anyone else experienced this?

It would be worth you contacting EA Support using the link at the top of the forum or the details in your game manual to request advice
