Default [GUIDE] Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack Guide - Updated!

Seeing as people are having similar problems i thought i'd make a thread with a few basic FAQ's in for the pack and people can post their questions as well

1. How do i bake Santa cookies and the Holiday Roast?
The Cookies are available when the Dessert menu appears on the refridgerator, you have to have one cooking skill to make them. For the Holiday Roast simply buy the Cornicopia from the decorative objects menu and it's under the Dinner menu.

2. How do i get Santa to come?
Simply bake some cookies and he'll visit your house at night. If anyone finds out some confirmed times let me know

3. Is the pack worth the money?
Depends on your personal opinion, a few of the new objects are available free on the Exchange but a lot more is available on the pack. You get to celebrate a New Years Bash and have Santa visit your house if you buy the pack, plus you get indoor sparklers, fireworks and other party essentials for normal parties as well.

4. What's this about being banned from the exchange if we upload houses with the new objects in?
This has all been sorted out now, you won't be banned from the exchange if you upload lots with the new objects on as people without the pack now won't be able to use them. However fansite owners cannot upload the objects to their websites as it is software piracy. Find more information over at the BBS.

5. How do i uninstall the Party Pack?
According to tech support you'll have to uninstall The Sims 2 to uninstall the pack. If you were to uninstall just the pack then it would cause possible problems with the game.

6. I've brought the cornicopia but still cannot make the new foods?
Firstly make sure you've got the right amount of cooking skills. 1 Point for the cookies and 7 points for the Holiday Roast. Make sure you are looking at the right time for the options, cookies are under desserts which appear with the lunch and dinner menus. Holiday Roast is under the Dinner menu which appears after 4pm.

Also make sure you have a cooker with an oven, the ShinyTyme Cooktop won't work as it doesn't have an oven.

If you're still having problems with only one family not being able to make the meals you can always try moving house with them, it's worked for Mizzystace here.

I've baked cookies without having the cornucopia, not tried the family feast though so it may just be that option you need it for, will check tomorrow

It doesn't need to be before 10:30pm Ermie as I had Santa come at 11:23pm after buying a tree and baking cookies.

As I said above, it was 11:23 when I went into the house and made the cookies, Santa came after that.

Since, as Ermie mentions, the game didn't come with any manual, there will probably be lots of speculation and theroies until players have tried out what will and won't work. I suppose if we take an optomistc view, it makes it more challenging.

You have to choose the option to throw a New Year's Bash before 8 o'clock at night.

Something very odd just happened in my game, I had Santa arrive one day - cookies made, house decorated and Santa left them a present. The next day no cookies house, still decorated (I like the tree so left it all as it was) got to 10pm, jingle bells sound, and santa appears checked all round the house there are no cookies anywhere. Santa left me a lump of coal with a message about how next time he'd like some of those nice cookies.

On a mission now to find out what why he's turned up again, could be one of the decorations, the tree has now been sold and I'm off to see if he turns up again

It's not the tree i've had that in my house over a few days and Santa hasn't arrived. I wonder if there's something else that prompts his arrival as you say.

Thanks Sentience

Does anybody else find it annoying that all these christmas objects we just paid for are being given away for free on the other sims site.

I doubt they will be given the wallpapers or flooring.

I meant to say yesterday Ermie, thanks for the guide, it's a great help. I've now added it to the FAQ thread.

Update on the Santa arrival issue, people seem to think you need both the Christmas Tree and bake cookies on the BBS. The times are varying from 8pm to 10.30pm for baking the cookies. Does anyone else have any ideas on the actual times?

I'd agree with needing the christmas tree and the cookies to get Santa, but again I think they are wrong about that time limit. One other thing I wondered is do you need a fireplace to get Santa, as I've always had one in the house at the time and haven't tried yet without one.

Something else I noticed earlier was that the cookies seem to be very filling for the sims, as well as getting some fun from eating them.

You don't need a fireplace, I've had Santa arrive without one.

And I think the reason for my second visit from Santa that confused me was because my sims didn't clear the cookies away until the next morning, it may have triggered his second arrival
