Sims 2 Nintendo DS glitch??? Why is the game still being sold

Last week I purchased The Sims2 for Nintendo DS Lite. I am a long standing Sims fan and have all the games for PC. I was happily enjoying my game until it froze for no reason when I went to my pockets. Searching around on the net I found that the response from EA Games was that you should never have your pockets filled full of items...why therefore are you able to do this? Also if this is indeed true then why does it not happen earlier in the game? MY pockets have been full many times throughout the game and this never happened before. Why if you have known about this glitch for a while have you not taken the product off the market and fixed the problem? Furthermore, having searched around the net and also spoken to a fellow owner of the Sims2 on DS, I know that this glitch does not only happen when the pockets are full and that it also happens when you fight the robot invasion, when you time travel and in my case its happened after I performed an alien autopsy (my Sim started walking as if they were drained off sanity despite the sanity meter being full).

Now understandably I am quite annoyed over this and would expect more from a reputable company like EA Games, I would have thought you would have had the foresight to take it off the market the minute a glitch was mentioned! Furthermore, with so many people experiencing this problem did you not do an investigation? What about getting your programmers to see how current owners of the game can fix the problem (without cost or having to start a new game)? Ever heard of a product recall? Just what is going on?

I had considered this morning going out and buying another game for the nintendo ds another Sims game (e.g Castaway) because I miss playing The Sims, however I decided not to. I do not particularly wish to get really far into Sims2 Castaway to discover there is a glitch. Please respond.

I'll move this over to the Sims Console board for you as it's the more appropriate forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced this problem, I don't play any of the console versions myself but I've seen this problem mentioned before. I haven't seen mention of any glitches with other console or DS Sims titles.

I'm sure the admin staff here will pass on your comments to the relevant people within EA, as part of the their forum feedback reports.

Quite a few console have bugs that i was surprised there wasnt a bug in MySIms DS

A list of bugs i experienced:
SIms bustin' out GBA: somehow you could pass the blocks underground and end up in the sea in the rodeo bar, and that the toilet blocks black background sometimes went white
Sims 2 DS: Something you do makes your sanity bar shoot down when your in the desert.
MySims DS: N/A
SIms 2 pets DS: you could upgrade the parken if im correct

sorry if i made msitakes, but i some reason have overtype on. Can anyone tell me how to turn it off on the internet and how it turns on in the first place?

It's the Insert Key (INS on some keyboards), it switches between Overtype Text and Insert text.

Thanks for the responses and forum move. I have not found any fixes whilst surfing the net, if anyone has found a fix then would they please let me know.

Does the game stop loading at the endorser screen like nintendogs bug? (loads the people who made it then stops)

No, when ever I load my game my sim is walking at a snails pace as if the sanity meter is really low (which it isn't) all the interactions are fast e.g taking a shower, but the walking is slow and the sim is walking funny. Also if I go into my pocket it shows as completely empty and then the game locks. Its really annoying. I was enjoying the game.

get a refund if you had it for 2 months* or under

*Or higher of lower depending on purchase place

I've jsut experienced the empty pocket lock situation... It has really annoyed me, as I had got quite far in my game.... The other slot that my friend plays on is fine... and whatever I do, the pockets stay empty, and keep on crashing.

So if there is a solution, I would love to see it... else I think my sims 2 DS game is going to start gathering dust... I don't have the time or sanity to play it all over again, especially if there's the chance of the empty pockets returning.

I have this game but have not encountered any problems on my game. I have filled my pockets to the brim, but encountered no glitch whatsoever. But to be honest, I never play the game anymore since I completed it and lost all interest in it.

You can always trade it in to a shop to get another game the same price (higher and you still have to pay, just not the full price. Like the DS game is some money) for anoither DS game

I've been playing the sims 2 for alittle over a week now, and all of a sudden when i went to my pocket my game froze, i tried everything to get it to work, and it does, i was pretty far into the game to and very disapointed because i absolutly love this game, if i knew this game would have this problem i wouldnt of wasted money on it, i now have a game that i want to complete but i cant because it freezes everytime i go to my pockets, i tried returning my game and I cant, i would really my game replaced with a new one so i can finish bc im not going to go out and spend money on the same game and encounter the same problem.

This is exactly the problem I am experiencing (and raised in another thread). I've already returned one DS card of this game in exchange for another. When I queried the fault it was certainly implied that it could have been caused by using a 'cheat'! The option I was offered was to return the game direct to EA for the princely sum of £15. I could buy a new one for less. Like others on this forum I'm a bit miffed

I noticed on the sims 2 on PSP... it will load up and my sim will be walking towards me on her own... making i difficult to play.

That thing has never happened to me in the game. neither has it freezed once.

So i'm happy. That's really bad that it kept freezing when you went into the pockets thing. I hope it never happens to me

I don't wanna swap my game to a different one. Because I like Sims 2.

omg the sme thing happened to mi, i had just got my mecanichal 5 ( soz mi spellins bd) and one of my guests needed a couch so i went to the store to get one, and i bought a green one and it didnt appear in my pockets insted it appeared in the corner and the the buttens went greem so i clicked the buy symbol again and the gme froze, wen i put it bk on an looked in my pokets it kept freezing. i went on it again and i didnt look in my pockets i went to the store and it sed my pockets wer full of mumified aliens so i went to the labratory to get rid of them and now i cn only walk lyk mi energrys drained but its full, it takes ages to get around and it keeps freezing im close to the end as welll WHHHYYYY!!!!!!!!

Isn't it soooo annoying when a game freezes on you, especially when you just completed something but not saved!

I got Sims 2 DS almost as soon as it was released and have never had any problems with it. But recently I starting playing it again and it froze twice in a row! And I know it wasn't my DS because its a DSi that I only recently got and its never happened with any of my other games! Its really annoying but im disappointed too, its a great game!

whenever I tried to move something in one of the rooms, the bottom screen went black and the game froze, it was so annoying that I stopped playing on it
