Default Sim cities societies has died

Greetings all,
I installed Sim Cities Societies on my new windows 7 64 bit PC and updated to patch 5 and the game ran without problems for about 2 weeks. Then one day I got a message saying there was an update either to the download manager or the game itself - I don't know which - and since then the game will not start.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted the files from the hard disk and re-downloaded and reinstalled, tried with my antivirus / firewall turned of and with windows firewall set to allow it. I've created a new profile on my PC and tried it on that, but the game refuses to do anything.

When I try to run it all that happens is that the curser revolves for about 30 seconds then goes back to it's normal pointer and that's it!

I emailed support and have had no reply whatsoever - do they exist, is anyone out there - so I emailed various other options - accounts, cancellations/refunds and the likes - and still no reply.

I'm pretty annoyed over this and very frustrated. Does anyone have any idea either as to what's happened to the game or how to get a response from support.

</rant>

Thanks for listening.

John

They do exist, I promise. I am sorry to hear that you are having a frustrating time.

If you have a ticket number for your query then send it to me and I will see if I can find out for you. The other option would be to call EA Support and there are contact details in your game manual.

I have looked to see if I can find an answer for you but didn't find anything specific to your issue. However you may find some of the information on the Tilted Mill SimCity Societies forum to be helpful possibly:

Thank you for response. If you say they exist they must be somewhere, but they seem to be ignoring me.

By ticket number I presume the question reference is the same, which is 100124-030073. If you could get some result for me I would be extremely grateful.

I'm of to trawl the other forum for possible info, thanks for the pointer.

After going through the Titled mill forum (thanks again for the pointer) I found the answer to the non-start of SCS.

For those who might want to know and EA Support (who obviously don't) the answer is to reinstall but to edit the path to remove the TM form the path name. See Game wont start - Tilted Mill Community the answer by Tyrnn.

It's a pity that the people who sell the software won't support it and leave it to others to find answers, but I suppose it shows the type of company they work for ?!?

Thank you EAUK_Aurora for responding to my question/rant.
