Default Read this before buying the game!

In short - don't touch it with a bargepole! Reasons:

1. No matter how up to date your pc and graphics card is, chances are you'll have to turn down the in-game graphics setting to allow it to run with any semblance of smoothness. Not that this will make much difference (see point 2).

2. Random freezes and crashes that EA seem unable to sort out. This game appears to have been barely tested before release, it's galling to have to pay for the privilege of doing it for them instead.

3. It's basic to the point of imbecility and is the gaming equivalent of building a town in Lego - all very pretty but you're left with a feeling of 'so what?'

I truly wish I'd read this forum before shelling out my cash on this lame duck. Take my advice, don't make my mistake

Anybody reading the above should also realise that this is just one opinion.

Plenty of people are having a problem-free experience and enjoying the game for what it is.

If you're really unsure, wait for the demo in a couple of weeks and decide for yourself. Don't just take the word of those who have had bad experiences, they're clearly biased against the game (and rightly so, I suppose).

Those having problems are more than likely to be in a minority - it just seems like there are many more people having trouble with this game than not because those who have had problems are complaining, and those who haven't had problems are too busy playing.

But, welcome to the forums.

Aaron, what card have you got & what settings are you playing it at?

I'm scared to play it again as I want my Vista Reliability Monitor score to go back to 9-10 as it was before I played the game ---> christ what's with the stupid smileys on the right now?

Err, anyway, has it ever crashed when you're playing it?

If you're going to buy it, might I suggest you check the stores refund policy first, so that after you've tried it you can take it back and get your money back without a hassle.

I was very fortunate that I purchased my copy from EB Games and they happily gave me a refund (with proof of purchase).

Amazon also refunds money without question (and pays for return postage too). So get a game from them and treat it as a free fully-playable demo.

The fact that the game crashes every few minutes for some people isn't an opinion; it is fact.

Maybe so, but many more people have had no problems at all.

I accept that the number of people for whom the game crashes is a minority, but that does not mean that it should not be sorted out, nor that it will not affect sales. Unhappy customers are always more vociferous than happy ones. Just look at the negative comments on amazon.co.uk, for example - how many potential customers has that lost EA?

How can anyone know in advance if they are going to be lucky or unlucky, if even meeting the game's stated minimum specifications does not guarantee you'll be able to play it? EA really needs to work out what's going wrong and then either issue a patch or update the specification requirements.

I see, you have had quite a few bad experiances, but i suppose you did that and kept starting it up just to bakc up your claims, do you even have a patch? i've been nice, but this is getting on my nerves, sure you have an opinion but MANY other people have repeated it im sick of hearing how the game crashes, (even tho mines does to) hardly any of the people complaining have BOTHERED to take peoples advice on how to stop the some crashes and TAKEN NO time to explore the creativity of the game, that goes double for you mike, you just reported to us what many people already heard. If you think the games to simple i suggest you return it or try to explore the game like you are supposed to, ITS NOT ABOUT the business of the city expenses etc. its about expaniding your imagination, i myslef have amde authoritarian, haunted and cyber punk.

Well said!!!! Every one should take your advice before buy it. That includes me! Now I`m stuck with "white elephant". This game crashes all the time, besides it`s a horrible game.

I for one actually enjoy the game a lot - when it is not crashing.
Why do people have to turn this into "complainers don't take advice" discussion? I check the forum for a new patch and advice from other gamers almost every day, just hoping that someone can come with that one tip that may allow me to enjoy this game for more than 10 minutes at a time. I'm glad some people are not having their game crashing, but quite a lot are as well.
I think the clue for issues other than the frequent crashing (for some of us) is to not expect this to be anything like the SimCity games. In its own it is a pretty fun game.

Well, the same applies to others gamers who dont like the game. They check the forum to get to know what is going on, but not just with the "game", also to express what they think and feel about this realease. Just like you are searching for a patch, they are searching for opinions and likewise people. Thats why this is called a forum, so anyone can speak freely. I`m having crashes all the time. I couldnt fix them yet. EA support team doesnt seems to know what really is happenning to all these crashes.

I bought the game loaded it downloaded update 2 then started playing. game srtarted crashing in less than an hour. read about all the tweaks and messing around that one usaully does and decided it's not worth the hassle. EA get your act together how much more evidence do you need to realise that your game has some really fundamental crashing issues. stop wasting game players time and money with all this run of the mill advice which merely amounts to us doing all the work whilst you stay in denial about your games problems. by the way it is no longer a minority read the has your game crashed since update 2 thread.

The first comments are a bit strong i would enjoy the game if it didnt crash so much which is annoying. It is simple but thats why i bought it, it was something to take my mind off other things and have some fun which is what it would do if it worked

Now you see, if you use this link Nyaren, Has your SC™S crashed since Patch 2 poll?, then you'll be able to see, even though it's about Patch 2, that 80 or so percent of people are experiencing problems with this game.

80% of people who have posted here about the game, maybe.

If you went to a bar and asked who wanted a beer, I'm pretty sure 80% would say yes. Do the same thing at a WI meeting, and they'd throw their teapot at you.

Nobody sane and sober enough will buy this game even if it's been sold on Ebay. This game is a giant mistake. Totally ridiculous, juvenil, unintelligent and boring. That's it.
