one thing def needed.. When diving to put the ball down (in 06) when you get tackled even in mid air your guy stands back up.. ive been pushed out of the try area 3 times in 1 game because of this its really annoying!

Default Musts for rugby 2010

same players for club and country! not just slight name changes! so annoying when you dnt get the same player and they arent as good.

make your own set pieces - eg. at a lineout shorten it and put some forwards in the back line such as impact players - makes the game more interesting and different

rucks, scrums and mauls need to be more different and easier to contest - brings players like martin williams into the game more and less predictable.

heineken cup and other comps should be included in the world league thing or just make a career mode like fifa - youth teams academies etc. more players in general would only make the game better

make the game harder! too easy to score - sidestepping with the scrum half off lineouts - scrums - all you have to do is pass to the blindside wing and you've scored!

if ea sports put as much time into rugby as fifa it would be a quality game

amen..
i enjoyed parts of the EA rugby game,
but it was the only rugby option given to me.
They need to make the sidesteps/hand offs faster, so you can do them on the sprint down the wings. Like Brian Habana gassing down the wing and cutting back inside at pace.
Need to put more effort into the game in general.
Is their research going to one match or something?
Need to watch more rugby (the dev's) and make a worthwhile game.
Need to be able to hold the ball up over the try line and make the defensive game better.

support from the defence should be faster. They need to introduce the idea of scramble defence. All the forwards just jog back when you still have an oppurtunity to defend/score. Another thing is the fullback being covered when he goes into contact. The wingers need to go back so there is a realistic counter when they kick to us.

Everyone wants a "FIFA" rugby game, but it's obvious they aren't doing it

A rugby game produced in the same format as FIFA, e.g be a pro mode, manager mode, quick set up matches, good gameplay etc.

career mode, single player mode e.g only be one player in a team(like fifa 09), guniess premiership with transfers and stuff, online play and create a team,
impact playerz who r quality not has beens and a few minigames - not like rugby 08 at all since itz jus simple wit no range of game modes !!!!

i agree with alot of things being said...
one thing that ticks me off other than the graphic problem etc. is the motion the players run in,,,when they get tackled they fall the complete wrong way eg. if a winger is running full pelt down the sideline and the gets tackled by the fullback, the winger either falls at the pace of a turtle, or gets dumped or knocked backwards! theyde fall down hard but foreward
another thing is say the fly-half kickes the ball to the fullback, and the fullback is near the ball were its landing, he'll drift/slide over to the ball!!

BUT another thing that no-ones brought up in this forum is the poor attension of detail with the crowd/ stadiums...when you look at the crowd on fifa, were you can see individuals, and not just 2D characters in lines that 1. dnt wear the team colours and 2. do not emphisis the realistic capacity or real seating arrangements in a stadium...capacity is another thing, you can have spain vs. portugal at the millenium stadium and it'll be packed to the rafters with people,,, wereas if it was 2 lower class teams on fifa, the stadium would be half empty
another thing about the stadiums is the spolights in a night match,,,on fifa you can't see the top seats in a stadium due to the sillhouete of the spotlights on shining on the pitch, wereas on rugby you can see the whole stadium as if its midday!!

Has anybody mentioned flat passes to put people through gaps in the midfield? or a change of the way the players tackle cuz on most of the rugby games so far they seem to be able to dive half way across the field to make tackles. and also a change in the way they ruck cuz (e.g say england take the ball in and there is 1 player from england and 3 or 4 players from new zealand at the breakdown, in the other games england probably would have won the ball but really 9 times out of 10 new zeland would have turned it over).

I don't think so, but it's a great idea, especially to make Perpignan tries against Stade Français

yes i'm loosing my mind expecting a new rugby game cause in the 2008 (basically the same as 2005 but new roster-not new ratings thought) i won by 50 points every match. The game has no similarity to reality, its really anoying. I dont think there is going to be a new one cause is no buissness for them when countries such as germany or usa and japan (mostly not everyone), etc..are no really rugby fans..and if there is a new game its gonna be similar to 2008.i'm very dissapointing..i'm from argentina and the pumas in 2008 dont have the shirt updated as the other teams, really lack of respect there, anyway EA PLEASE NEW RUGBY GAME.

i personally think(difficulty wise) it should be like madden 09 with the IQ method, you do like training at the start and they take results according to your ability to play the game, then it moves up and down accordingly!!

One way to make it more difficult is to play the first half as the opposition and try and come back. (Doesn't work in tournaments though )

or what it do is do nothing for a whole half and then try and win in the second half.
