Never heard of Pro Rugby manager 2 but there is online games like Blackoutrugby and rugby mania where you can manage your teams, its premium but you dont have to pay you may loose out on a few options and stats but nothing that would make that much of a difference

with EA's rugby track record id settle for one of those....... create a player is the dumbest thing iv seen, no matter what you do your player looks like one of those bobble heads you put in your car......their heads are about twice the size of any other players and look like they just had plastic surgery on their face

EA must not release the game on PS3,XBOX 360 only ,a lot of people still have their PS2s ,and EA would lose more money than they've already lost

Ea still tend to release on PS2 anyway, in the past they have made games for the xbox and ps2 while still having a graphical toned down version for the ps1, they have done it a few times with the ps3 with other games like Madden this year

Things I think need imprv. (sory for the length)

.Teams, you start in the 3rd div. in world league and they never have any of their internationals

Also (e.g.) Llanelli (just to pick 1 team) have players for them who actually left years ago like lee byrne and tal selley - where's regan king?

.Graphics, some of the players look stupidly unlike real
plus the slightly wider forwards in real life are just as thin on the game as some of the backs.

.World League, once you reach the elite league it is dull, no changes between seasons, you build your team with excellent players and then you don't want to buy anyone else and there is nothing to do except play matches (which i suppose is the idea though)

.There is never any difference in the tackles, there are about 5 different types of tackles and then they are all the same.

.Too easy to score, once you are away you can just gallop through the middle of the posts, plus the pack always moves in one group (everywhere, so annoying!)

Sorry for writing so much

It would be good if they introduced a tackling system where:

X was dive tackle
Square was a smother tackle
Circle was dump?
Triangle was ? stop tackle- not getting them to the ground but halting their momentum.

R1 for shoulder barge (illegal) and L1 for high tackle, imagine all the different tackles that would be cool.

Default Important updates for rugby 09 if ever made...

If Rugby 09 is ever released, EA needs to make major improvements in comparison to Rugby 08. First of all, would like to say that Sony(PS1&PS2) rugby was the only ones fully licensed except for pc of course. Would be very degrading if they didn't make a Rugby 09 on PS3 and even PS2(if they feel like it). Then, major improvements needed...such as:
1) Better player design and more accurate stats.
2) Better set plays...don't always want to do a preset play...would like to bust my own moves and plays.
3) Better ref, touch judge and hopefully tmo...making mistakes in decisions depending on their abbility(pro ref or amateur ref). And clearing what you did wrong when giving penalties etc.
4) Better commentary...getting a bit excited when braking the line and aming for the corner etc.
5) Better tackling form dangerous tackles(which should not always be a stiff arm) to hard hits and also crowds reaction to these tipes of tackles and also ref decision to award penalty, yellow card or even red and then a match ban considering how dangerous it was.
6) More challenging game play as even hard mode becomes piece of cake.
7) Possible for pick up and drive(dive for the line) when close enough.
No star players, just accurate stats...each player scoring a winning try, penalty, drop kick or conversion under pressure is a star player in my eyes.
9) When playing world league(which should be made manager or coach mode), more possibilities. Like when signing contract, deciding on sponsors etc. Total custome of jersey to place sponsor name, to keep up with ever changing rugby kits and players they should have a internet update etc.
10) Then maybe a bigger variety of cups...like the Heineken cup witch clashes with the european cup like it really does and also like in Fifa with the for example the premier league, champions league and FA cup. Also would like to see the currie cup and so forth...

I'm a EA sports fanatic. From tennis, tiger wood golf, fifa etc. Would just like to see EA do as much effort in the rugby as they do with fifa and yeah, I know football is more supported than rugby but if you design a great rugby game you can make one every 2 years...because quite frankly, fifa is also starting to be a bore as it's the same thing every year...with the exception of better graphics.

And you should be able to do it to the ref.

Maybe a mini "rucking" game where you move the anologue sticks around to kill the unfortunate back at the bottom of the ruck.

Im now withdrawing my support of EA and pleading for konami to make a pro evolution rugby! since the pro evo soccer games were introduced EA has had to step up their soccer games, a bit of competition never jurt anyone, the other rugby games have been desperate to say the least and everyone of the forum knows that Rugby 06 is the best game (after Johan Lomu of course)

That would be cool, especially if the odd time the ref lets play continue, i think he does the odd time when you illegially tackle another player, sometimes i get away with it! other times i just cant resist......take that HENSON! ....he spends to much time in church and not enough time playing rugby!

I didn't get that at first!

Maybe we could have a special "kill Henson" feature and could kill him with his waxing cream, his hairgel, his orange paint, his spiky hair from 2005 and bangin him on the head with his autobiography.

Oh and he has to listen to Charlotte Church permanetly.

Someone added a thing about colours of the strips, this is really good idea - I think they should also have some internet thing where when a new season comes up in real life and a team has a new shirt you should be able to update it on the game, not kidding it would be really good! Also they could try to get a few more people to sponsor them so they can put all the sponsors on the shirts.

Also the players face expressions should be able to change in gameplay.

And two of the really annoying things (most annoying things) are; when an attacker breaks the line and you're running along side them you can't tackle tem unless you get in front of them or slow down,
and; when you highlite a player just before they catch a kick or pass they ALWAYS drop it!!!!!!!! WHY????????????

Plus I think you should be able to train teams or players so that they can get better (up to a limit)

man ea have gotta step up...the difference from 04 to 06 was great but from 06 to 08 was nothing at all, commentary the same, tackles the same...basically every other ea sports games get a yearly game and changes dramaticly. the crowd needs to exist referees. key match ups, more aggression in internationals like aus Vs nz. rugby is one of the few games that i dont get sick of and since getting a 360 nothing has been done, ea has to listen to what needs to be done and not just slap a different year on the same game

i feel rugby 09 should include more teams and fill every league on the game because leeds wernt included in the guinness premiership and u dont have a great choice for ur world league team. it should include national division one and other competitions suc as sevens and possibly league as it is quicker paced. the players and kit should be updated and it should come out on more consoles and have a bigger track list. the commentators should change from match to match have more phrases and say stuff in time with the gameplay. the refs shouldnt notice every mistake and scrums, mauls and rucks shouldnt be as structed and clean. there should be buttons to stamp and scrape pull down line out jumpers and set plays to have of the ball players crossing. you should be able to have more control at the line out and be allowed to have decoy runners. impact players should be looked at and changed and should be rated on there current performance. the create a player should be better with more options and there should be a create a team feature where you can also create youth teams so people can make the teams they play for and there should be great options for creating kits. the ref should talk more there should be a TMO and the refs assistants injurys should be more realistic and players should be able to bleed and there should be blood subs. there should be greater choice with set plays and better forwards. there should be a career mode or at least add youth acadamys into world league. you should be able to manage international teams for seasons as a career instead of just competitions. in world league you should be able to arrange frendilies. in every match even on play now players ratings should grow based on match perfomance like on fifa 08

there should be proper refs with ratings. Higher the rating; better the ref!

im not a huge fan of create a player because of the unlimeted stats but they shuld at leats make carrear mode and u pik a country and u play super 14 or the european comps and u get picked to play for 1 australian team and make ur way to internationals.

the difficulty is the biggest fault because even on elite im winning games by more than 30 points and with 5 minute halves. look at how many levels of difficulty there are on fifa and other games and the top level is at least a challange. and also the momentum gauge, if the cpu has more momentum it shuld make a difference thats shul at least be 3 points.

Default Listen To Me!

WHAT IS NEEDED IN THE NEXT RUGBY GAME IS:

- online play!

- create a tournament mode (like on fifa08 u can make a tournament with your mates and even play this tournament online if your mates are overseas)

- unlock hidden teams/players - legendary team/players like christian cullen, jonah lomu, campese, olden day Wales team, world cup winning teams

- ability 2 hold players up in-goal

- updated star players

- just one 7's tournament would be cool

- something similar to fifa lounge that keeps multiplayer stats and rankings

i think drop goals are fine, not too much has 2 be changed, 08 is an awesome game just these key additions would be great

-

Thats it a special illegal move just for Henson that when you hit him it knocks the fake tan off him! you also have to have him adjusting the hair everytime he picks himself up from a tackle

  • install more realistic chip kicks with unpredictable bounces.
  • major update on player ratings and impact players.(Hernandez should be a star, along with- Castriovanni,Paul O' Connell ,Luke McAlister,Juan Smith, Vincent Clerc and Yannick Jauzion should not continue to be an impact player.)
  • Update younger Player ratings(Danny Cipriani and James Haskell)and also update what club a player belongs to(Stephen Jones does not play for Clermont,Rua Tipoki-possible impact player,Lifemi Mafi,Doug Howlet should all play for munster.Luke McAlister for Sale Sharks,Byron Kelleher for Toulouse.)
  • Make players running with momentum retain quick ball for their side if they are tackled.
  • More formidable set plays(Decoy runner loop).
  • Rate teams according to iRB world rankings.
  • Obtain rights for the top 14 french league and Celtic league for more fully-licesenced teams.
  • Due to the appointment of the 13 Experimental Law Variations , install all the new proper rules for the right competitions.
EA Sports should read this taking some things into debait others are welcome to tell me what they think
