A) These aren't drums it's a game.
B) It's a gimmick, it's just petty one-upmanship. It's not going to add anything to the gameplay it's just a little lick of paint to gloss over the fact it's a direct rock band rip-off. Once you start playing you won't care that this note is slightly louder than that note because you hit it harder, you'll be concentrating on hitting the notes. Besides that the levels in the game a balanced so that no instrument is dominant, this will be ruined by the whole dynamic drum volume thing, and just make the song sound weird.

Look it may be a game but it is extremely close to the real thing and im sure we've all seen the vids of ppl copying note charts from rock band on to real drumkits and it snds perfect except for the fact tht they have cymbals which makes the GH4 version of the drums even better, And as for the whole drum loudness things, it does make a difference to a real drummer like me.
Finally for everybody who keeps saying its a Rock band rip off, for starters isnt that how all games are invented and secondly, Drum mania anyone??? Gh4 is no more a rip off of rock band than rock band is of drum mania

There's a difference between being first and popularising the idea I know, but they still wouldn't have done it had Harmonix not done it first I dare say, and the difference is that drum mania was exclusive to arcades, as was all their other instrument based games (Guitar and I believe piano) Harmonix were the first to make a Guitar based game for homes with an affordable peripheral, and they did it again with Rock Band.

Yes, because it is, just because a price is higher than you'd like doesn't mean it's not affordable. And besides you ever tried to buy a DrumMania machine? You're looking at a price of £5000 so I'd say in comparison yes affordable.

I'm sorry does your dad own a bank or summit? If u look at the majority of gamers out there. 180 pounds is too much to spend on a game and a waste for most people and so is 140. A price like in america however would of opened this game up to a much wider audience.
And seriously 5k??? Where are you getting these figures from man. All an arcade is, is a console inside a box, i shud no i built one and stuck it in my attic. Me and my dad had a fun project on the go but we did our research and worked out how much it would cost to buy machines and well divide your value by bout 7 - 10 and u've got a much more realistic answer

I got these prices from an arcade machine catalogue, a friend of mine runs an arcade, in north east london. I know what an arcade machine is I've also built one, but for a start the companies that build them don't sell them at cost price they want a profit and also things like drum mania and silent scope are highly specialised machines and unlike home versions need to have highly durable hardware to withstand the abuse of people playing it. Also DrumMania has a pod that you sit in to make the music more audible in a noisy arcade.
No my dad's dead he does not own a bank, but as I said compared to the full arcade hardware it is cheap and it's obviously cheap enough to attract quite a few sales, and yes a lower price would have got more sales but you can say that about anything. While I feel the price is quite high it is still affordable, I simply weigh up how much fun I'd get out of it over cost, Assassin's Creed cost me £40 so 4.5X the Rock Band RRP but I'll get more than 4.5X the play time out of it. Assassin's Creed was an awesome game but it's replay value is a little low, I still didn't feel ripped off though, Rock Band will give me hours more enjoyment and so I'm more willing to pay a higher price. Granted I got my drums for £40 and already had the guitars so it wasn't that expensive anyway but still more than worth the £80 I paid for it.

Which is pretty much what everyone agrees on. It's worth the £80 or so that you paid for it, and it's worth the £80 or so that it costs in the US. What it isn't worth is the £180 EA are asking for it in the UK. |
