Oh how me and some of my friends have been chomping at the bit for this game to get a UK release. We was already planning some BBQ's in the summer (if we get a summer this year) and then seeing how many noise violation warnings we get from having some very drunk people playing noisy music games so very badly.

After seeing the game released in the US, working the price out between £80-£90 to get the whole deal, my friends were willing to chip in some of their hard earned moolah for a game they might only play two times in a year. I pointed out we normally pay a premium in the UK, probably end up being £120ish as we're always ripped off. They didn't seem to deterred and accepted my clever guesstimate.

And here we are today. To buy the whole package, which at today's prices costs £85 in the US, we're being asked to pay £180.

Any chance someone working from EA can come round to my house and kiss me? I always like a bit of foreplay before I'm ****ed.

Either that or they've misread their calender and thought it was last Tuesday's date....

Well I for one will definetely not be purchasing on release day.
Will have to wait yet another couple of months to see if price comes down.
I would urge everyone who is considering buying the game to do the same and try and send a message to these robbing *******s at EA.

Well I am completely disgusted by this price, I guessed it would be over £100 and I was ok with that but £180 there is no way I will be buying it. I might wait to see if the price comes down, but I reckon it wont till next year.

So well done EA in my opinion you have just priced your game well out of the market.

No.
Not a chance.
And especially not with the price of the DLC on top of that.

This is insane.

And the DLC's at the heart of the thing. It's in EA's interests to get the hardware out there as widely as possible, because digitally distributed songs have got to be pretty much all profit after the initial licensing hit. That's why this pricing seems like such a bad idea to me - they're cutting themselves out of all the DLC purchases...

Only on this forum to say one thing. Up until today I was a guaranteed sale for this game. Now that EA have showed their usual grubby greedy ways I will be withholding my puchase of this game until the price has dropped considerably. I refuse to pay more than 30% more than an American for this game regardless of the current economic situation in the US.

EA can take a long walk off a short pier with that price point.
I won't even buy skate2 in protest.

Confirmed purchase from Ireland here now GONE unless this changes.

there is no bloody excuse for that kind of pricing, forcing players to buy two seperate packs for the full game is ridiculous.

It actually doesnt make sense?

How is such a price justified?

i payed 200 quid for it because i posted in these forums a while back saying that the price would be inflated like this my guess was 150 only 30 pound out! so now i dont feel so hard done by. Any ps3 users that dont wanna wait can pay the same price as it will be for xbox 360 on 23rd may but u also get the us copy with it

special edition £180.00 at 365games.com

If your bothered about exclusive tracks just wait a few months like the magazine tracks that were released are now coming out for d/l.

I feel bad for the 360 owners hope it gets cut to something a little more reasonable.

DLC and warranty issues are big concerns, though. Not to mention the fact that I don't feel much like giving EA my money in any region right now.

As European gamers weve had to get used to getting the short end of the stick, having to wait longer to get the game and having to pay more to buy it etc. This is beyond the usual shoddy treatment, I honestly cannot believe were expected to pay over twice the US retail price. Im certain we all expected a mark up on the price but this is insane.

As others have said you can actually buy an Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii console for that kind of money. As much as I was looking forward to playing Rock Band I honestly dont feel I can justifyspending £180 for the privilege. At least some of us will have the choice of wether or not to buy the games, im sure there are younger gamers out there who simply will not be able to afford it.

Just joined here to express my disgust in the UK getting ripped off. I will NOT be buying this game now or ANY other EA games from now on if the pricing is correct. I'm boycotting ALL of their products. Well done for voting with your wallets people!

Another newbie here who just registered to say that he won't be buying Rock Band now.

I was waiting so long for Rock Band and until recently I thought I would buy it for sure. But not for this prize.

I could easily afford it, but hell, I'm not throwing my money out of the window or giving it to greedy companies.

Now, I'm in no position to comment on the price of Rock Band (don't ask)

I just thought you guys might be interested in what the community over at the Harmonix Rock Band forums think of this:

European and Australian Rock Band pricing boycott/petition - Rock Band - Forums

They are trying to organise a boycott at the current price.

Again, I'm not complaining myself as I'm not really in the right circumstances to comment.

The ***** Monkeys are quite happy to warn me for swearing, but do not have the balls to respond to anyone questions.
But I shouldn't be suprised really, it is EA after all, what do customers matter when theres money to be made?

I also just joined to say, EA, WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!? Were you even thinking at all? You couldnt have. Srsly, 180£? Thats ridiculous. But alos the part about its only coming out in UK, Germany and France. So, Europe for you is, those 3 countries? Man, you guys need to get hold of a Globe or something. What about Denmark, (Where im from) Sweden, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, manye other countries just being pooped on by you. You have lost a billion customers by doing this, and you will not earn any money AT ALL. Price it down, and you will earn money.

yup im another person who has signed up to the site exclusively to voice my disgust at the price of rock band.

to expect us brits to pay over double the price of the US rock band is simply ridicoulous. i expected to pay maybe 130ish for this (round up the US's £75 to £100 for the conversion, and then 30 extra just for the hell of it) but there is no way in hell im going to pay 180 quid for it.

i remember harmonix originally stated that they wanted to make it affordable, yet still good quality, and if EA think that 180quid is 'affordable' then theyre living in a dreamworld. they can obviously afford to sell it for much less and still make a profit, so where the hell has this £100 price rise come from?!?

i was really looking forward to buying and playing this, but EA have lost 180quid from me, and surely hundreds of other people easily.

ill just buy it second hand at half the price at some point so then EA dont get any kind of royalties from the resale of one of their products just to make it hurt even more.

A die-hard fan has been lost.

Well DONE EA.

I hope so much money is lost over this fiasco, the brainiac in charge of this loses their job.

What the hell is this?!? You delay the game for 6 months and then charge us double what the US have to pay?!?!

Are you not surprised that people are so upset about this?

God I hope EA NEVER gets a hold of GTA.

Keep complaining, keep writing, keep posting. EA may not want anyone else to join, but the Internets are doing the work for us! *-)

I've just joined, so not sure why people think you can't register.

But apart from that....I joined to say there is no way in hell I will be buying this game at that price.

Was looking forward to getting it for my girlfriend as she is a drummer. But not at that ridiculous price.
