True not everyone likes them and your right it is a completely different genre of game, but why dont u just wait for guitar hero 4, in the end Guitar Hero has the best charts and its rumoured future guitar hero games will have drums and i wud assume mic and im completely prepared to wait for that than pay the ridiculous price ea has put for the UK release

I know how you feel, because I'm in the same position. I've been waiting for this game since before its US release, and the price announcement was a real kick in the nuts. But no, any amount that's knocked off doesn't make it more acceptable, because it makes no difference to the company setting the RRP. EA have priced this at such a point that retailers are marking it down to the price that going by traditional pricing they should have been marking it down from. No matter how much I want the game, I'm not going to tell EA that I agree with them doing that - and that's exactly what buying the game tells them. It's particularly offensive because they expect us to carry on paying them after buying the game, for downloads. I've got no objection to doing that - it's one of the more appealing parts of the game in some ways - but a game that operates on that pricing model should be selling for less up front, not more.

So I'm putting aside the money that I'd planned on using for Rock Band, and the moment EA does the right thing with the price, I'll buy it, and buy downloadable content along with it. Until then, I'm playing older games that I never got round to finishing, or deserve playing again. And if they never do the right thing, then I'll just buy Guitar Hero IV instead, and EA will have lost my custom completely. Sucks to be them.

So

To be fair though, I imagine GH4 will be a similar, if not identical price.

Activision have a history of following the traditional 50-60% markup in their pricing, including the Guitar Hero series. It's part of the trail of evidence that gives the lie to EA's excuses. If it's more expensive across the board then that's fine with me - what offends me with EA's pricing is the inconsistency between Europe and the US. I'm not willing to foot the bill for someone else to play games.

iapetus, you put up such a good reason,iv decided not to buy rock band either, sod EA,some other sucker can blow they're money on a six month old game, with shoddy peripherals.Im gonna spend my money,on a brand spankin new HD tv,and suprise suprise,it'll be cheaper, than a freaking copy of rock band...

EA,drop the price, otherwise, shove the box where the sun doesnt shine, and play us a nice solo with them colon muscles...cos thats about as much chance as you have of rock band being any kind of sucess here in the EU at the diabolical price you've set.

Default question

i was speaking to a manager of a branch of gamestation today when i was trying to pre-order this game.and he told me he got a mail off the makers of this game saying they have scraped the instrument bundle pack, instead they are changing individually for the instruments.

e.g.£60 for drums
£50-60 for EACH guitar
£29.99 for microphone
and £50 for the game.
and the usb port...guess what it sold individually

i was wondering if anyone else has heard this?or is this guy lying?
oh and one more thing, you cannot use the guitar hero 4 les paul guitar as they have made a new one.

lol thats mad, Gamestation might aswell not stock the game itself, im sure people are smart enough to buy it off play.com or Amazon rather than those rip off Uk high street game shops.

You'd be suprised. Games are pretty much ALWAYS cheaper online yet theres still loads of game shops open and plenty of people dont like shopping online. Not me though. I just use the shops to browse then go online to buy. Saved myself a fortune over the years

"Gamestation might aswell not stock the game itself"

I popped into my local game store and asked about Rockband. There is no advertising and the sales guy stated if I wanted one (which I’m not buying) to go to their website. Looks like they are not going to sell it in the shops.

Wow i really need to look at GH4 a bit more. Those drums look awesum compared to the cheap lalalala u get off ea. I could actually justify spending the same price on tht

I was in GAME on oxford street today just checking what they're final retail price for Rock band is gonna be.

I expressed my distaste at the full RRP and the guy said, "well you can use your 360 headset and get a 2nd hand guitar and then buy the drums and the game" (so £109.99 for the new stuff not counting the 2nd hand guitar).

And I just thought "you know thats right that is a cheaper way to do it. But why should I have to?"

Why should EU consumer be made to jump through loads more hoops and not even get the same product as the US consumers.

What did we do wrong EA? Did we offend you in some way by buying all those countless FIFA/NHL/NFL games over the years?

Oh and I got a reply from EAUK_Omni about the manual query, "If EA make a statement it will be made in the Rock Band forums".

Gotta love that "If" word huh?

I think thats all we get from Ea and from past experience:
IF = Ea will give no statement what so ever and will instead sit in their big office counting their money

Here's hoping it won't take all that long to count when Rock Band fails to sell spectacularly.

GAME are saying that their pre-order demand is far out stripping supply apparently. But according to one Eurogamer poster who works for GAME they never even started a company wide deposit scheme for Rock Band. So while they may have lots of Pre orders they have no guarantee of sales from the largest games retailer in the UK.

So here's hoping they barely sell at GAME and EA get the goddamn hint that the things over priced!

Ye. Here's hoping they have to move their office on to a council estate cuz they've lost so much from rock band non-existent sales

Unfortunately if the companies this lalalalalalaed at the moment that they can't see the games over priced i doubt very much that they will realise that even when they're going bankrupt.

Lets all just pray that Activision don't make the same mistake with GH4. Certainly looks alot better tho. u can even make ur own songs and upload them to guitar hero tunes. How cool is tht?

As much as I hate EA, I think the GH Drums look cheap. I mean look at the cymbals!

I don't care if the GH4 drums look cheap as long as they're better than the RB drums.

For anyone thats having trouble stopping themselves buying Rockband, just think about the fact that GH Aerosmith should be out in June!

It will be interesting to see how many EA have sold in the UK on release day. I've looked at both Amazon and Play and both have units for sale. So not a GTA4 out seller then!
