Come on get real. In the end its down to business. They're not required to make it so their compatible. How would you feel if people went and brought another game and then expected to make it so that your guitar worked with it..
But your entitled to your opinion. I'm sure we can agree on one thing though
We all hate EA

They didn't have to make them compatible. Harmonix had already done the work on that. It's a case of using legal threats to prevent consumers from using the items that they've purchased for other purposes, which always annoys the hell out of me.

Allowing the hardware to be compatible (which required no action on Activision's part) would have resulted in better sales of Guitar Hero - both software and hardware - as people picked it up for the combination of an extra game and a second guitar for Rock Band. Any benefit Rock Band could have gained from mutual compatibility, Guitar Hero could have gained too.

sorry to inform you but it was sony who stopped activision from releasing the update that would enable ps3 owners to use the GH3 guitar in rock band

You seem to have the story confused - Sony stopped the release at Activision's request. Activision weren't going to be releasing any update themselves - it came from Harmonix.

*Clap clap*
Well done EA.

I Wont be Buying Rockband at Release.

I really do hope EA Realise what a horrible mestake they have made when sales on the day are "0"

Get your act together EA. The UK Community deserves better. Especially after we've had to wait 6 months after the US to get our hands on the game.

message to play.com: WELL DONE, Good on you for bringing the price down somewhat.

Games here are like £40-£50, in USA thats like $80-$100.

What makes me so angry is that we are paying all this money (if we are?) and the guitar is wired not wireless, even the god darn PS2 version will come out with a wireless guitar.

Still not buying this game but personally as long as you've got a long wire on the guitar it would be all right, certainly saves on batteries
and before anyone says use rechargeables i do. just takes ages to charge

Anyone from EA want to release an official statement about why they're ****ing us over yet? Or still want to treat us like ****ing morons?

Default Disgraceful

The U.k/EU need to take a stand and not endorse this, anyone who pay's for this is saying "it's fine to rip us off".

The only way they will re-think there way's is if the game sells badly and it deserves too.

Are they trying to make most there profit through europe while the u.s get a reasonable price, trying to make up money for there terrible launch in the u.s.

I went to play.com today to pre-order the band in a box and seen it was reduced to £99.99 and i thought thats reasonable then i noticed you need to buy the game also so it £140($280) and thats the cheapest possible but still it's too much for me to endorse this, i can afford it very easily but it's the principle of the matter, so i will not be buying it untill i can get the band in a box and game for around £100 i would maybe pay £120 for the lot.

Whats annoying is the american version is $180 and it includes the game so its £90 in the u.s but we have to pay more just for the instruments which are useless without the game.

I'm just going to buy guitar hero instead.

It would be nice if this thread became 1000's of posts long then they would notice just how much money they are losing.

A member of harmonix tried to justify the price because of vat, which again is pathetic, so because of vat they need to charge double that of america.

The u.k always gets ripped and since i love gaming i usually put up with it but not this time.

Another thing that bugged me was in the description for the band in a box:

"Break Out Your Axe - Shred on guitar and bass like never before with the all-new Fender Stratocaster (to be confirmed) replica guitar."

Whats does to be confirmed mean, maybe you will not get the replica guitar instead getting a cheaper made fisher price toy, surely that should be worked out before allowing pre-order's as if i ordered it and it arrived with some other guitar inside i'd be even more annoyed.

TERRIBLE. I hope it only sells 50 copies or something, infact i hope all these potential rock band buyers go out and buy GH3 later this year there will be a GH4 with drums so i think we can wait six months or so.

This can't be said too many times. If you pay for this because it's just one game and you really want to play it, then all you're telling EA is that you'll be willing to pay it next time, and that you'll be willing to pay larger mark ups on all their other top titles.

The only way to avoid that is not to buy the game until they address the pricing.

Sadly, not everyone will read these posts. This means there will be a few people who go out and buy it on launch. Then of course there are the people who are too weak willed to not buy it, because they so desperately want it, these are the people who need a good slap to bring them to their senses.

I 100% Agree, people who lives in the UK really needs to take action with this one, the game is already delayed as we said and it costs double what the hell is going on!
I really hope people would not go out and buy this game on launch and just wait for the price to go down, you must be the biggest MUG if you buy this game at the full E.U RRP.

I mean c'mon, I was just browsing around both Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.com, and I hope customers in the UK site reviews this game as a 1 star!

Amazon Uk and US prices:
Rockband Special Edition, All 3 instruments (UK £99 without game + £40/£50 Game), (US $149, £80-£85! with the Game).
Errrm...... thats a massive difference there lol the UK is already suffering from the credit crunch and do they really think they are going to succeed with their plans.

And if you buy the instruments separately:
Drums (UK £69.99), (US $48.99) both of these are from Amazon Uk and US sites.
THIS price difference between this two items are CRAZY! £30 we are meants to pay for the drums and we are being charged £70!!! WHAT THE HELL is up with this world?!?!?
Well I guess theres nothing like this game out there at the moment to compete with this game, so its a bit of a MONOPOLY atm..

You do realise you can also take advantage of the rock band game being shipped separately to the instruments, if you have a 360 and some GH guitars then buy the drums from a US retailer or ebay (I got mine for £25 plus £25 shipping) and buy the UK version of the game, use you GH guitars and you US Rock Band drums and you get Rock band for under £100 whilst avoiding paying the ridiculous UK hardware price.

Sure, some people will end up buying it anyway. But everybody who doesn't buy the game and would have with a sane price or with a decent explanation from EA counts as a victory for the good guys - every sale EA lose reduces the profit they make from being such lalalalalalas.

True, we just have to hope EA start to take notice.

On a positive note even OXM have touched on the £180 price tag! This hopefully means the casual gamers, who just read magazines to decide what game to buy, will read about the price and decide to not buy Rock Band.

Damn... you can nearly buy a Brand New Nintendo Wii or the Xbox 360 Arcade for the price of this game, did they not do any research about MARKETING at all?....
Its like buying a car for £100, but the Keys for it costs £5000!

There's no "nearly" about it. The Xbox is cheaper and the Wii is the same price.

And you can get a real guitar and amp, a microphone and an electric drum machine for less than the RRP of this game.

I checked out the Amazon page for the game - the score is currently at two stars despite a lot of early 5-star reviews. As soon as the price hit, the 1-star reviews started flooding in. You can't buy Rock Band on Amazon now without seeing pages of reviews telling you not to because it's a rip-off, and that's the way it should be.

I think EA are still hoping some people buy it and will say how amazing it is, but in the end its just another mediocre game thats been hyped up so much because of the long delay. I think we should all just move on and wait till fable2 or gears of war 2 comes out, at least those companies wont rip us off. The worst thing about the pricing is that they've set the rrp for the game at 50 quid. I cant remember the last time i went in to a shop and saw a 50 quid price mark on a game unless it was EA, all the others are at 40 pounds or less.
Ea really needs to spend a bit more on its market research in the future if u ask me

Unfortunately,i truely have buckled under the immense anticipation for this game, and have some how managed to round up £200 for it (im only paying that much cos i get two guitars) but iv got like £110 off anyway,so i guess thats not too bad!I honestly just wish EA would open there eyes and see that the UK,and the rest of the EU aint ones for being ripped off...and the majority just wont buy RB.

Owell,there loss in the end.

I dont know about what your saying because not EVERYONE likes those 2 games you said, Rockband is a type of game which is targetted for a wide range of audience, I mean I like Gears of War myself, but you cant stop people to buying a completely different type of game.

They're not going to do that as long as idiots like you are willing to pay what they're asking even though they know it doesn't make sense. Want to do the right thing by yourself and other gamers? Cancel your order, put that money to one side, and wait for the price to drop. Learn some self-control or companies like EA will just walk all over you.
