rieras injured right now and was one of our best players last season.
It made sense bringing him in as well as at the time riera was probably one of the best if not the best LW/LM in la liga.

of course fergie has made plenty more mistakes, but the thing is Fergie has won regular trophies and have been at united for 23 years.

What has Rafa got to show for his 5 years? he is still riding on his champions league win, and that champions league ONLY 2 players Alonso and Garcia was brought into the team by rafa. and he also won the fa cup.

Look at the number of duds Rafa bought to liverpool!!!

1. unable to keep owen at liverpool
2. duds... Crouch, Sissoko, Zenden, Bellamy, Pennant, Gonzalez, Vorinin, Babel, keane, Dossena. thats all i could think of.

IMO Liverpool would be in a much better position if they didn't win the champions league... Gillett and hicks probably wouldn't of taken over Liverpool... rafa would of been fired... someone else would probably be a much better fit... The only good rafa brought to the club is torres... if Rafa wasn't there Torres would be playing for united!!! and United wouldn't of signed Berbatov the dud!!

look at the dominoes effect by rafa!!

Behind Vincente, Robben, Simao, Guardado, Pires, Henry and probably a few more (these were the ones I could remember off the top of my head)

He was not one of the best left wingers/Left midfielders in La Liga.

Vicente no (even a valencia fan who I was talking to said no not after 05), simao hes a Right footed footballer, im talking predominantly lefties, guardado definately not, and certainly not pires. Henry is a forward still and not a winger.

Oh right yeah, I totally forgot he brought reina, agger, alonso, mascherano, kuyt, johnson, skrtel, sissoko (never a dud, unless you've supported us for about 2 seasons),crouch, garcia

As for owen, he wanted the money of madrid he had no loyalties to liverpool.

Pires litterary saved Villareal. Riquleme was having a fuss, Villareal was out on their luck, and Pires was instrumental in getting Villareal back on their feet.

Both Messi and Simao are played on the wrong side (lefties playing on right and vica versa) so you can pick between either Simao or Messi. Both were better than Riera that season.

Vicente was better than Riera, his injuries kept him away from action a lot, but when he played he was definitely a good player. But I will give you that, although I personally disagree.

Guardado was Deportivo player of the year in 2007/2008, In my opinion he was indeed better than Riera.

more duds then good signings. Out of that list Alonso was probably the best player and he decided not to keep him and flirted with Barry to force alonso out of the club. Great work!!!

I don't support liverpool and sissoko wasn't that great. Mascherano only had 1 good season, he has been average this season. Johnson has only played a handful of games.

Owen was liverpool born and bred, he was Liverpool through and through and obviously liverpool didn't want him thats why he left for an opportunity at real madrid. Owen was top scorer for Liverpool for like all the seasons he was there. Only liverpool fans would say Owen was a traitor. Rafa had no intentions to keep him simple. and it was his mistake, he took a Nunez instead as part of the deal. Real Madrid didn't offer an excessive amount of owen (wage) it was quite close to what he was on at liverpool probably less. Only liverpool fans would say he went for money, when that was a total lie.

lol proving how good riera was before moving to liverpool doesn't help your case does it? because he has been quite average at liverpool

I'm not saying he's a bad player. But to say he was the best or one of the very best left wingers/midfielders in La Liga is just not true. A quality player, yes. The best? No.

the lad grew up a blue nose you muppit and he was born in mold wales (or at least borderline) not liverpool.
Nunez was forced upon him he had no choice, owen going was all parry's doing.

Id say mistake 14 though of rafa's is not starting riera all the time this season. Its not just a coincidence that alot of our results came when he played last season.
