Sydney FC, founded in 2004, is an Australian football (soccer) club based in Sydney and competes in Australia's premier competition, the A-League.
Sydney FC won the inaugural A-League Championship in 2005–06 by defeating the Central Coast Mariners 1-0 in the Grand Final. After winning the 2004–05 Oceania Club Championship, Sydney FC competed in and finished fifth (of six teams) in the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship in December 2005. As inaugural A-League Champions, Sydney FC competed in the 2007 AFC Champions League, and finished 2nd in its group behind Japanese giants Urawa Red Diamonds. Sydney FC also went on to compete in the 2008 Pan-Pacific Championship in Hawaii as the representative of Australia and its A-League. In February 2009, Sydney FC again made Australian football history when its Youth Squad won the inaugural 2008-09 National Youth League Championship.
Its home ground is Sydney Football Stadium, a 45,500 seat multi-use venue in the suburb of Moore Park. Right from the beginning Sydney FC was marketed as the "glamour club" of the new competition, with the involvement of the club's high-profile personnel, including investor and actor Anthony LaPaglia, ex-Manchester United star Dwight Yorke as the team's first "marquee player" and 1990 FIFA World Cup winner Pierre Littbarski as manager in the first season. Sydney went on to sign Former English International defender Terry Butcher as the 2006/07 season coach, Brazilian superstar midfielder Juninho Paulista in the 2007/08 season, and Socceroos legend John Aloisi as striker in their 2008/09 season, with each as the highest paid footballer in Australia in their respective seasons. Strikers Benito Carbone of Italy, and Japanese legend Kazuyoshi Miura have also made appearances in the sky blue jersey.

90% of Sydney fans would rather shoot Aloisi then to see him continue to be our marquee.

Why is Grant listed as a defender when the closest he comes to it would be holding midfielder.

He's one of my mates best friends so I could ask. I don't think I will seems a bit touchy.

But, I'm not sure. If it were that serious a case he'd already be in jail and Sydney wouldn't have signed him.

What's his charge again?

Being with a younger girl?

It's not like he raped her so it's nothing too bad.

Just a charge and a Sex with a minor scar on his record.

Problem is that she was clearly willing to partake in it. Unlucky for him.

yea she was supposedly 13 at the time and he was 18, i think that is statutory rape but i could be wrong. I really dont think he did anything, i dont know how you could think a 13yr old was of legal age

Come on Sydney, big game tonight against Gold Coast who are without the league's far and away best player Jason Culina. I think we can win 1-0..

We can beat Gold Coast, they're on bad form after losing to Newcastle. I can imagine 2-1 win to us - Kofi and Aloisi with the goals.

Good to see a Sydney thread, how many fans do we have on here anyway, 5?

Thought I'd bring this thread back to life with some exciting news

Sydney are interested in signing retired Portuguese winger Luis Figo, who could change his mind and come out of retirement. In the meantime, Sydney coach Dave Mason told local media sources that he is already in contact with Figo's agent Rob Jansen.

Please let this happen
