Default American excuse:

Quote:
All the best US athletes go to the NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL, so Congrats Brazil....your best athletes barely one a game vs our 2000th best athletes
This has to be the worst excuses in the world, I like rooting for the U.S. but I cringe every time I hear a comment like this. Why so much arrognace havent African teams proven that athletism isn't everything in football.

It's kinda true though, they're a big nation and other sports are usually favoured.

It's true to an extent. If football was a big sport in the States they would own.

How has Uruguay manage to stay competitive against the world with a population of 3 million. Keep in mind that half or those are women and that the 98% of that half are not footballers.

keep in mind that US has a population of 300 million.

Because they have a massive population which is sport mad, and they have the best resources too. Just look at some of their other athletes and you see that there is so much untapped talent in that country. In 10-20 years time they could be the best.

Because there is no other sport apart from football, in the USA there are 4 maybe 5 sports ahead of football.

Well if they were into football then they would be able to develop the skills like in Europe and South America.

It's not like they're all born to play Basketball, Baseball, Hockey and Handegg.

300 million people vs 3 million

In the U.S. I can find athletes to fill up NBA, MLB, NBA, Football, Arena football, TENIS, F-1 and other racing, and still will have better athletes than what is in Uruguay.

They don't have the resources or the athletisism. Chinese people are small and thin naturally, Americans have much more athletic prowess.

That doesn't mean you will be the best at the sport.

Why aren't the USA owning Ice Hockey then??

American Football and Baseball haven't really got a global sport status as only certain countries take them as one of their major sports. And they aren't even world champions of Basketball anymore!

It's a poor excuse and one of th reasons I didn't want USA to win....
