The ones I could think of off the top of my head... Pavel Pardo (VfB Stuttgart), Aaron Galindo (Eintracht Frankfurt), and Omar Bravo came back to the Mexican League... Bravo is on loan from Deportivo... Efrain Juarez Valdez came back to the Mexican League (Pumas) from the Barca youth ranks... There are some other Mexicans in Hungary, last time I checked, and in other lower Euro Leagues, I think... There's one that used to be in the Spanish second division (Javier Iturriaga), but I don't know where he's at now... also, we have Jonathan dos Santos, captain of the Barca Juvenil A team... and a player in the AC Milan youth ranks... and another player that used to be in the Real Madrid youth ranks, who went to Lille in France, but I don't know anything else about him... I'd have to research more...

Not as many as I would have thought. Most then stay to play in Mexico then?

well, I only named the ones playing in the top tiers of each country's league, so I'd have to research more in depth about the ones in second divisions, youth squads, and the like... then there'e the issue of wages... players in the Mexican League are paid quite well, and in order for many of the Mexican players to make the jump to a Euro League, they sacrifice their wages and therefore suffer pay cuts... such is the case with Pavel Pardo, who went to play for Stuttgart (Germany), sacrificing his higher paychecks in Mexico... it was worth it, though... after 2 seasons as an undisputed starter, winning the League Championship the first season he was there, and even taking the captain's armband for a time, Pardo came back to Mexico as a true champion...

there are only a handful of Mexican players in europe, but of those, nearly half have won League Titles, and almost all of them are playing for important clubs in their respective country... so, I like to think of it as quality over quantity...

then again, there are a handful of other Mexican League players who have the potential to triumph in Europe, but the clubs they play for sometimes make it too hard for them to leave... Jose Antonio Castro was denied by Club America for the chance to play for Espanyol (Spain), Omar Bravo was denied a couple of years ago by Chivas to play for Recreativo Huelva (Spain), Gerardo Torrado was denied the opportunity to play in Europe again by Cruz Azul, this time for Espanyol (Spain)... Oswaldo Sanchez was denied by Chivas for the chance to play for Hannover 96 (Germany), and so on...

some Mexican Clubs also dish out millions to bring back certain players: Francisco Fonseca was lured back from Benfica (Portugal), as well as Aaron Galindo from Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany)... those guys were actually doing okay, but some Mexican Clubs spoiled it, by bringing them back before they could progress... also, some big clubs offered insultingly low amounts of money for Jared Borgetti several years ago (AC Milan), and Andres Guardado (Real Madrid, youth team)... so, naturally, the Mexican Clubs they played for didn't let them go...

also interesting to note that every Euro-based player I listed on the first page (in addition to previous players: Pardo, Galindo, Bravo, Borgetti, and Fonseca) all scored at least one goal each... Jared Borgetti was the only Bolton Wanderers (England) player to score in all 4 competitions Bolton was in during the season he was there...

Nery hasn't played much since his injury... my guess is that Shakhtar want him at 100% fitness before they play him more... hopefully he plays a full 90min soon...

Jonathan dos Santos is said to have even more potental than his older brother, Giovani dos Santos... He's been tipped as being a contender to joining the senior FC Barcelona squad in due time...

don't know an exact amount, but based on segments on sports news in español, the Mexican League clubs pay more than South American Leagues on average... Club America being one of the richest clubs in the FMF, if not the richest... this brings up another theory as to why so few Mexicans make the jump to Europe... European clubs have a budget, so they are careful with their money... Why try to match a said wage for a quality Mexican player, when they could sign a quality Brazilian or Argentine player for less? Pavel Pardo is a particularly good defensive midfielder, so he sacrificed his higher wages in Club America for lower paychecks at Stuttgart... This is not to say that ALL Mexican players make more than they would playing in South American and Euro clubs, but some 'star' players are paid well enough to stay financially content in the Mexican League, which is a decent league in its own right...

In the Confederations Cup 2005, the Mexican squad only had ONE player in a Euro League (Marquez at Barcelona), and during important matches (against Brazil and Germany), he was suspended... A full Mexican League-based squad defeated Brazil (1-0) and narrowly lost to Germany (3-4)... which is a paradox... now that Mexico has more players succeeding in Europe, the Mexico NT as a whole is taking a dive in form...

Yeah, although unlike our MLS, FMF has been here a while and has established a good financial backbone, not to mention being the "Europe" of South and Central America.

Im not really sure what the average salary is, but i read somewhere that the average salary of players in Argentina is between 50-150 thousand dollars...so i think its safe to say that most starting players make a six figure salary; maybe excluding the smaller teams like puebla, indios, uag, atlas etc...While teams like Club America, Monterrey, Tigres, Cruz Azul, etc have a several, if not the majority of their usual starters having salaries in or nearing the millions. Off the top of my head, i know Club America paid their former coach, Ramon Diaz, 3.5 million dollars (at one point was the highest paid coach in any sport throughout the Americas) and currently pay Pavel Pardo 4 million dollars. I believe Monterrey's Humberto Suazo is the highest paid player in mexico, making something between 4-5 million dollars a year.

Yeah, the league has a huge influence on that. Although, I thought with the skill level and such, that more would go and play overseas anyways. No problem though staying in their league though. Especially if you get paid nicely.
