Holman is a joke.

Should get Carney at RB for the next game, i rate him well.
**** performance but the jobs done. Going to try and stay awake for Qatar v Bahrain which is bound to be a borefest.

You want the left footed Carney playing right back?

When he's a left sided attacking midfielder?

Why not? It's only Qatar...
He started out as a defender you know.

I know where he started out. He was a junior where I live.

Maybe we could stick Mullen there or something. Surely we have a RB elsewhere in Europe.

Hopefully thats the last time we see Holman in a green and gold shirt. Ruka would have done a better job.
Not sure how Bresc missed that first opportunity but oh well. Whens the next qualifier?

Nah, Mullen isn't up to par yet. Usually i'd say someone like McClenahan who's been playing very well in the SPL but he did his ACL or something and is out for like 6 months unfortunately, but he's another fairly young player that could do a decent job

Carney is an average defender, playing as one when he was a kid has no relevance, he should never be played in defence. There's also Milligan though, he can play RB, so can North...we have a few options but i'd just play Neill there i suppose and throw Spiranovic if he's fit to play in central defence

Qatar are also scared sh*tless of us, we are like their bogey team they seem to be to scared everytime we play them so it's safe to say we might even be able to play lolman in defence

From what I remember, I thought Carney did pretty well when he was marked up against Messi in September '07 considering the differences in class.

For away qualifying matches do many Australians tend to travel to support the national team or do the distances prove too much of an obstacle?

Grain of salt. He's nothing like that anymore

Yeah quite a bit, i wouldn't say nearly as much as England sends over to other countries but there are always(depending on distance) at least 200 or 300 supporters. When we play somewhere like Bahrain or Qatar usually there's around 50 or 100(considering it's on the other side of the world, it's not that bad) but for big games like against Japan, we sent over 2000

We have Qatar next anyway. Should be another 4-0 win to keep the tradition

I reckon if want to play with more "pizaz" we need Nick Carle. Not sure how he's been doing at Crystal Palace but he is much more creative than Valeri. Valeri is a foul machine too. Carle also has alot more pace which is something we lack in the team. Thoughts?

Gotta love Kennedys goal celebration, whiping off the forehead sweat with the corner flag.

It's not so much pizazz that the people want. It's more to do with pressure football. A lot of the team play in the premier league and you'd expect them to play with an extremely high temp game with efficient passing - and by all accounts they should be but instead we are suffering by watching average passing with no pace, no nothing whatsoever. The second half really showed how quick Australia can play the ball and it's that kind of football - no matter what the formation - that people will enjoy and will be successful also.

Absolutely dominated that 2nd half but I think Uzbekistan may have been fatigued from their game on Saturday which helped our cause in that 2nd half

Id like to see pim play macca upfront with ruka/djite for the qatar game, we only need a point afterall. There is likely to be a few goals and i cant help but think once skippy gets a goal they will start flowing (witch we really need for the wc)

The way things are atm, if the wc was tomorrow we would have nothing upront, kennedy wont provide much agianst top defenders unless brought on late like last night, macca cant play the way we would like upfront by himself and we would be relying on timmy and kewell to pop up with something..

No matter what if want to score goals and take control of a game we need the two upfront for 3 quarters of the game with kennedy coming on late (as he did last wc)

Thought Garcia was average last night, only came to life in the 2nd half. Kewell was good when he had the ball, shame on the person who gave him a 6

With a full squad we would have smashed them, but eh what can you do?

Had some good build up play, Bresciano played fantastic again... Beauchump needs to be tighter but apart from that, an OK display.

I'd like to see Jade North get a run against Qatar.

The entire team was average in the first half. Garcia played well in the second and was willing to take on his man and beat him quite a few times, i think he's a far better option out wide than Bresciano who should always be in the middle. Kewell had an average game throughout and along with Chipperfield was our quietest player - even he admitted that.

Valeri impressed in the second half, it'll be interesting to see who out of him and Jedinak really steps up for that position because he's already hinted that Grosseto should sell him in the summer to a Serie A club which i reckon will spell the end of Grella with the NT(who's been pretty average lately, combined with age so he doesn't really have any important future with the NT post-2010) but at least we've got terrific replacements in the middle...now we just need defenders
